  1.
  2. Pokemon Fire Red / Leaf Green
  3.
  4. Platform: GBA
  5. Released (d.m.y):
  6. 29.01.2004 (J)
  7. 07.09.2004 (NA)
  8. 01.10.2004 (EU)
  9.
  10. Based on: European version [AGB-BPGP-EUR] (LG) / [AGB-BPRP-EUR] (FR)
  11.
  12.
  13.
  14. - I recommend playing the game on a GameCube using a Game Boy Player.
  15. The input lag has no significant impact in a game like this.
  16. - If you need Master Balls, replaying FRLG is the best way to get them.
  17. - You can carry up to 42 different items in your Bag and store up to 30
  18. different items on your PC.
  19. - When you get a game over, you lose an amount of money that's affected
  20. by the number of Badges you have and the level of your highest level
  21. Pokemon.
  22. - There's no Macho Brace in FRLG (unless you transfer one), which makes
  23. EP training very slow.
  24. - There are no Contests, and Ribbons are hidden (ie. even if you have them,
  25. you can't check them). Incidentally, the only Ribbon you can obtain here
  26. is the one from beating the league.
  27. - You can't trade with Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald until after you've
  28. beaten the game and completed some of the post-game events (ie. the
  29. seven islands). You also can't trade in any post-Nat Pokemon until
  30. you've obtained the NatDex.
  31. - Synchronize does *not* affect Nature in FRLG.
  32. - The new evolutions introduced in Generation 2 won't occur until you've
  33. obtained the NatDex.
  34. - There are a bunch of Move Tutors in FRLG who can teach a certain move
  35. to a Pokemon. They can only do it once and, indeed, serve to replace
  36. Gen 1 TMs that no longer exist.
  37. - You can only buy two of the special Poke Balls in FRLG and only at the
  38. very end.
  39. - You can't grow berries in FRLG (there's no RTC). Aside from using
  40. Pickup, you can also obtain an endless number of random berries at the
  41. Berry Forest, where berries have a chance of respawning every 1500 steps.
  42. - If you want Legendaries from the GBA games with good stats, it's now
  43. easier to get them from HGSS instead, as you can use Synchronize there
  44. (but not on Runners).

  555. - If you need levels, your best bet is fighting the Elite Four without
  556. actually beating your rival. If you're not comfortable with the idea of

  577. the Islands, go to Vermilion and catch a ride from there. You can fly
  578. between some of the islands (1-2-3, 4-5 and 6-7), but you can't fly
  579. between the mainland and the islands.
  580. - One of the three legendary beasts from GSC can now be found running

  583. Bulbasaur | Entei
  584. Charmander | Suicune
  585. Squirtle | Raikou
  586. × Do *not* trap Raikou or Entei. Due to a programming error, if they
  587. use Roar, they will despawn.
  588. - You can now also use Waterfall on the field (if you raised a Goldeen,
  589. you may already have it). There's only one place where you need it, though.

  627. - If you need cash, you may want to flash your Vs Seeker on this island

  703. - A pretty good place to level up. Watch out for exploding Electrodes,
  704. though. Wobbuffets are also fairly unpleasant (Counter, Mirror Coat,
  705. Destiny Bond, Shadow Tag).
  706. - If and when you plan to catch Mewtwo, don't forget the usual preparations:
  707. max 5 party, the Master Ball and a fair amount of patience.
  708. - Ideal stats:
  709. 250 HP, 180 Atk, 152 Def, 240 SAT, 152 SDF, 207 Spd (Neutral)
  710. - It's got Psychic (10), Swift (20), Recover (20) and Safeguard (25).
  711. If you're not using a Master Ball, you need to get that paralysis in
  712. before it uses Safeguard. If your paralyzer can't take a single hit,
  713. just keep retrying until it doesn't kill it on the first turn. You
  714. could also equip the Quick Claw. Afterwards, drain its Recover, then
  715. just use a Sableye.
