  7. -Magic and its role in the Universe-

  9. Also known as Magia, Magi, or sometimes Mana. Magic is the term given to the energy which envelop us all; You are filled with Magic, so is your neighbour, your family and so is the rest of the universe.

  11. Nobody knows the whys or hows, but at some point this magic essence was filtred into our dimension and created the universe as we know it. In time, it created stars, it created earth and it then created life. Some creatures even posses the ability to be reborn after perishing due to their magical essence being scattered into the universe and reforming sometime later.

Magi is not only part of our tissue, but it can also be harnessed from the enviroment by different means: Whatever is from Crystals; Spells and Enchantments, or even being extracted from the source itself, Caldera. This has allowed the races of the universe to develop their technology in an accelerated rate, granting them the gift of MagiTechnology and Inter-Stellar travel.

  19. -Caldera: The Wellspring of Magic-

  21. While the powers of Magic are part of all that is around us, that is not to say that these powers are fully native to our universe. In fact, these forces come from rifts in time and space which lead into another dimension known as Caldera.

  23. Caldera is a dimension composed of only magic in its purest form, where nothing solid seems to exist. Its from rifts into this dimension where the magic flows into ours and grants life and matter across the universe. Still, Caldera remains a mystery, as its unstable and dangerous nature has only allowed us to explore just a small fraction of its complex enviroment.

  29. -Magic Siphoning-

  31. As explained before, In order to utilize Magic, it is necessary to harness its power with the use of Crystals or by extracting it from rifts into Caldera. However, recent projects have allowed to artificially generate these rifts via the complicated procedure of Magic Siphoning.

With the use of a clash of Light and Dark Magic Artes, the "layer" of reality is weakened, allowing for a machine to drill and cut into Caldera and allowing a stream of Magic energy to flow through. Once its course and intensity has been stabilized, the magic its then extracted and injected into TechnoMagi Reactors; Which condence the energy and transforms them into a usable force before being distribuyed across the cosmos.

  35. This is not only an fairly recent discovery, but also a incredible delicate and dangerous procedure. One minor slip in the process can lead to the rift becoming unstable and cause a massive spill of untamed concentrated magic across the quadrant, making it untraversable and hassarous to life around it. These errors can be eventually fixed, but it takes a long time before the magic can be pushed back and the damage caused by it be repaired.

  37. As of now, only a few of these projects have been completed with outstanding results and have been accessible to sections of the galaxy with much more advanced-technology. Still, who knows what the future may bring...

  41. -Crystals: The Magical Ore-

  43. Who doesn't know what Crystals are? they are on pretty much everything that uses MagiTechnology. From Weapondry, to armor; to vehicles and gardets. Heck, I'm sure everyone at some point have thought how good would a magic-powered coffee maker work, haha...

  45. ...Anyways. Crystals are believed to be Magic in solid form; A hard mineral shell containing a limited supply of magic power inside. These usually grow underground and are mined to be proceeced and delivered to people around the worlds.

  47. There are a huge ammount of different Crystal types; varieties of colors, sizes, power and uses. Some are easily breakable but easy to find, while others are tougher but much rare. Some types can also be used as vessels for magic; that is, once empty can be re-filled with Magic to be used once more. These are mostly common in MAgictech Weapondry as ammo supply.

  49. Overall, Crystals power most of the machines of today and are a mineral that is desirable all across the universe.

  53. -TechnoMagi Reactors-

  55. These gigantic pieces of machinery are powered by multi-elemental crystal cores with the purpose of absorbing and story magic, for then convert it into usable energy for MagiTechnology. Most high-advanced planets and cities tends to have them as they are quite hard and expensive to produce, but generally necessary for a constant supply of usable Magic.

  61. Magicores are part of almost every piece of MagiTechnology in this side of the galaxy. In some way a smaller and public-friendly version of a TechnoMagi Reactor, these cores, usually powered by Crystals, distribute the magic energy across the circuitry, making the machines work.

  63. An invention that is now part of everyone's lives. Easy to manage and adapt.

  67. -Grimoires: Sorcerers of a new age-
  68.  
  69. As explained before, the only way to harness the powers of Magi is by the use of MagiTechnology. But, there is a rare set of individuals with the ability to tap into the magic wellspring with their own bodies. These people are known as Grimoires.

  71. Nobody knows for sure what determinds a person to be born with the abilities of a Grimoire (thought the probability does increase if said leneage had very good Grimoires in the past.), but these set of people are more "attuned" with magi than the average person and do now need for crystals and other trinkets to act as power-source.

  73. This grants them the ability to use unique spells, or Artes, in and out of combat. The ability to use Artes is a tough one, and it requires a lot of concentration. Grimoires tend to use certain tools to facilitate a better focus: Staves, Caster Gloves and other gadgets. Either way casting too much spells and ability may also bring out fatigue on the Grimorie who uses them, so a good Grimorie must learn what to use at the right time rather than just spam magic missiles every five seconds.

While records of Grimoires have been marked across history, there has been a fairly-recent movement, after the historical event known as The Dark Artes War, to find and motivate Grimories across the Galaxy to learn to harness their special abilities in order to fight for the people's rights as members of ICARUS, trained in big schools known as Academias.

  77. At the same time, Anit-Grimoire movements also exist at certain sections of the galaxy, fearing their ability to directly use magic may lead into an opression of MagiTech users. Meanwhile, some other Grimoires prefer to continue their studies unaffiliated with ICARUS out of distrust or just lack of interest for it.

  80. -I.C.A.R.U.S. (Intersetllar Coalition for Arrest, Restribution and Unified Security)-

  82. The Inter-planetary and multi-cultural organization know as ICARUS was formed many years ago by a council of different species, with the intention of maintaining peace and security across the known civilizations of the galaxy.

  84. Its hierarchy and service branches are vast and plentiful. Some sections of ICARUS are in charge of developing and researching new tools and discoveries that can be used for the protection of the galaxy; Others are in charge of maintaining an elite army to be deployed in catastrophic scenarios; And others are simply branches of law-enforcement, sent to different worlds to keep the peace around its inhabitants. Each of these squadrons and groups are usually marked by the color-scheme in their armor and uniforms.

  86. Some of its leaders and founders have been famous warriors who have been able to fight against impossible odds. These super heroes have implemented programs and systems into ICARUS to reward and develop future heroes, with the potential to fight for what's right and defend the innocent.

  90. -The Dark Artes War-

  92. This is an important and dreadful date in the history books. In the early years of ICARUS and MagiTechnology, not so many years ago, an enormous war emerged as the galaxy was ovewhelmed by the influence of an arcane cult known as the Court of Zeroma; composed of members of multiple races who called upon the powers of forbidden and mysterious Dark Artes..

  94. Entire planets soon became entire battlegrounds as the Zeroma forces increased; Tempting weak minds with their mysterious magics that, to this day, are still a mystery. War raged for years, until the efforts of one squadron leaded by the famous Udyr hero, Captain Milleanth Animus.

  96. He had discovered that the talents of particular individuals known as Grmoires, could be used to to counter the vile Artes of the Court of Zeroma, eventually striking upon their leaders and destroying the knowledge of these abhorrent incantations forever.

  98. Years after the end of the war, Captain Animus proposed the idea of searching and teaching these young magic adepts to hone their abilities and compose part of the main squads of their organization, hereby creating the ICARUS' Grimoire Academia Program for Young Adepts.

  100. However the aftermath of the war created a downside that still lasts to this day. The fear of Dark Artes had been grown into people's minds thanks to the horrible acts made by the Court of Zeroma; which eventually labeled said kind of practice as dangerous and untrustworthy. It's thinking like that which has, most of all, befallen upon the Yami race; whose natural use of the Dark Artes have made them feared or hated by other races.

  104. -The Discovery of MagiTechnology and its effect on History-

  106. MagiTechnology is something that is still fairly new to universe, believe it or not. Quite some time has indeed passed since its discovery, and it does feel that at this point it has become an indispensable part of our lives, but that has been due to the high adaptation of the races across the ages.

  108. Some of the first races to have discovered the powers of Magi are the Avvoltaire, but the idea of utilizing machines to harness it has been a concept pioneered by the Juvel for quite some time, as their lack of magical aptitude left them with an over-dependence on machinery. Eventually it became a common thing for everyone, jumpstarting entire civilizations years into the future age.

  110. The Ciels were pretty late, but still not the last, when it came to learn about MagiTechnology. But their mastery over it has make them spread across the galaxy at a rapid rate; Becoming one of the most common races in the entire cosmos. This has come with a downside as it has gained some hatred from other races.

The power of MagiTechnology may have not reached its full potential as of yet, and some of its more massive and amazing features are still something just the most powerful and wealthy can posses, but there's no denial that this wonderful discovery has accelerated our lives into a brighter future...

  117. The Magia-Net is the massive database of information that is connected to almost every computer and hi-magitech devices this side of the galaxy. the INTERNET, as you'd known.

  119. From the mundane to the informative, from vast knowledge of the universe to funny feline pictures; there is so much inside the Magia-Net that a simple entry could not give it justice.

  121. ...just make sure to be careful. As welcoming as some sites in, some can be...perverted.

  125. -Orres-
  126.  
  127. Orres are the name given to the currency of the galaxy, created to have a simplified economy across all races. Orres can be stored and trasnfered both physically (In cards) or by transfering through the Magia-Net.

  129. There are still other types of currency among certain societies and sectors of the galaxy, but the Orres remain as the main one.

  133. -Academia: Training for a bright Future-

  135. The Academias are grand institutions all across the galaxy, founded and supported by a special branch of ICARUS with the purpose of educating young minds about the universe and the use of Magic and MagiTechnology.

  137. Originally founded from the ICARUS' Grimoire Academia Program for Young Adepts, the Academias branched into a full institution to both teach knowledge and also to train future defenders, workers, researchers and bright minds of all kinds and sizes.

Being much better equipped and filled with more benefits than the average education organization like simple schools, academies and universities, the Academias have just recently been expanding into new worlds and can be still quite expensive when a special scholarship or admission by a higher-chair are not available. Still, the Academia makes sure to find potential adepts across the cosmos, inviting them to expand their horizons and learn with them, securing them cushy jobs and titles.

  141. This goes specially at Grimoires all over the galaxy, as the Academia's primary function is to enrich and enlist future spell users to protect the worlds.

  145. -Gemball-
  146.  
  147. Gemball is a popular sport played across certain regions of the galaxy. A Team event in which two sides compete inside an arena, with the objective of leading the Gemball (As its name state, an spherical ball with the appearance of a gemstone) into the opposite team's area and score by impacting the ball through the opponent's target.

  149. Each team is granted special armor and weapons, constructed specially to not cause extreme harm to other players, that can be used on the field. From shields, to stun clubs, to Kinetic Cannons (Cannons that launch a kinetic blast that pushes the target.) among others, the players use them to stop the opponents from crossing, though physical contact like tackling is still authorized.

  151. Each uniform armor contains an amount of usable energy. After its has taken a certain amount of punishment, the uniform locks down, and the player is temporarily out of commission until the shield recharges. Said energy also allows to perform Energy throws; charging the energy into the Gemball to launch it with great length and power to the other side.

  153. Gemball has become very popular in this past few years, gaining inter-planetary tournaments across the galaxy.

  156. -Crimson Scales: A Toxiceron Legend-

  158. Crimson Scales are a rare-condition on Toxiceron folk which causes the individual to be born with crimson red-colored scale and skin pigmentation. Rather than looked down as a deformity, Toxiceron tradition greets these rare breed as a blessing and cheer.

According to Toxiceron folklore, the Crimson Scales are chosen by their ancestral spirits to carry a vast potential of adapting and evolving their bio-abilities above their normal kind, and many old tales involve these special kind of Toxiceron pulling a mighty feat. Entire festivals are even held dedicated to the crimson Scales of past times.

  162. Even the Neo Lizards, much more settled on the technological and less on the old ways and believes, still consider this mark as of one who can rise to be a part of history.

  166. -Toxiceron's War: Neo Scales vs. Arch Lizards-

  168. It is very well-known that the Toxiceron race is one that is very split from one another. This goes back to many many years ago when the races were still very separate.

  170. Two factions of the Toxiceron fell into a never-ending argument about the future path they should take after the discovery of MagiTechnology. One side believed to be the next step of their evolution, greeting the change into the modern and technological over their latent abilities as a species. The other side, however, believed in carrying on their old ways on the belief MagiTechnology would take a full control of their lives; That their bio-abilities are unique to them for a reason and that they should keep it as such.

  172. As so, these two factions grew more and more and eventually separated from one another. The Neo Toxiceron Movement, or Neo Scales, are the followers of the path of Technology, focusing in creating new tools and devices and the interaction with other species. Meanwhile the Arcane Keepers, or Arch Lizards, follow the path of nature and bio-adaptability; sheltering themselves from other much more modern societies and limiting themselves on how much technology they allow into their lives (Some decrees even stop certain merchant ships to interact with Ancient Lizard tribes, resorting to just a few lines of transport and supply that they accept.

Even with these two big faction, there are still plenty of Toxiceron folk who don't fully agree on either side; Some still improve themselves with technology while at the same time keep evolving their bio-abilities while others still follow in the more nature-loving teachings of their elders but continue to interact with other groups and races.

  178. -The Shadow Mother: A Yami Legend-
  179.  
  180. The Legend of the Shadow Mother is an old Yami story that has been passed from generation to generation among certain colonies of Yami people about the life and teachings of the "Shadow Mother". While not all of their kind believe to be truth, is still considered a high religion and following for certain Yami groups.

  182. According to the tale, the first (now lost) homeworld of the Yami was nothing but a barren and desolated planet. No animal nor plant existed across miles, until from the primordial dark matter, the first Yami was born: A Male.

  184. On the day of his creation, as magic created flora & fauna around him, the first Yami felt lonely, as there was noone like him who could understand him and share this life with him. Looking down at his feet he laid eyes on his shadow reflected on the earth and continued to stare at it as time went by, feeling attached to it like it was his only friend.

  186. Days went by and the young man continued to stare at his shadow for contort. The universe then took compassion over his desolated life and granted him the ability to control his shadow, which he then used to shape it and give it life; making it in his opposite image: A Woman.

  188. The two fell madly in love and lived together for days after days, eventually bringing to the world dozens of children. But after so much time, the Male Yami eventually grew tired of the constant care needed for his children and the undoubted love of his mate. And so, he left one fateful full moon night.

  190. The Shadow Mother, knowing her time in this world wouldn't last long without her male, used the last of her power to split her soul into millions of pieces of shade, which were absorbed into the souls and shadows of every born Yami.

  192. Yami people believe that, when they perish, their souls are reunited with the Shadow Mother, who then takes them to her paradise at the end of the universe from where they came from. This tale also told to young male Yami to understand they role of protecting and caring for their race; to not leave them and make the same mistake as the primal Yami once did.

  196. -Armor MagiCores-

  198. The universe can be a pretty dangerous place. Creatures roaming every planet; lowlifes causing trouble across the cosmos; The easy accessibility of weaponry; and whatever lies beyond can be a little bit frightening. Luckily, scientists and scholars have made sure to invent new ways to help us stay protected against any dangers that space unfolds. One of these inventions are the armor MagiCores, which come in different varieties.

  200. Usually most Armor MagiCores are connected with an suit of armor for extra protection. The MagiCore creates a coating of magical energy that can help someone survive certain dangers that could easily kill somebody in an instant. Being also armors in their own right grants you that extra protection, specially against environmental dangers like extreme heat, cold or the vacuum of space.

  202. There are also another type of Armor MagiCore which, while granting slightly less protection, it allows for a greater versatility. These kind of Armor MagiCores can be implemented into clothing, connecting via special fibers that react with the magic, becoming more rigid whenever it receives impact. This allow for a more fashionable and comfortable piece of equipment that can still protect you from danger.

  204. An example of these special clothing can be seen in the uniforms of the Academia's students. Specially design to be both pleasant and efficient.

  207. -Magia Gates-

  209. These are superficial breaches into the channels of Magic Energy that flow through the universe. This allows whoever crosses these tunnels to travel across vast distances in a short amount of time

  211. Magi Gates are opened in different ways: whatever it is by means of a Spell or by the use of MagiTechnology created specifically to create them. Usually, they appear as floating spinning magic circles with a crossing tunnel of energy at the center. The locations of where said magic circle is generate depends on the use.

Besides the obvious use of teleportation spells (which alone are incredibly rare when they involve something more that small distances), some machines allow for fast-travel across different points of the galaxy. Things like space ship Magi-Drive generators (Which catapults the vessel through a self-generated Magia Gate for a period of time.) or big constructions located in key points of a sector that works as hyperspace highways; allowing a vast amount of ships to cross through these big gates into a farther spot in the cosmos.

  215. Thanks to Magia Gates, our known universe has become more and more accessible with the passing years; Allowing for a better interaction and understanding of everyone around us.

  219. -A Creature's Life Cycle-

  221. As previously mentioned, the wildlife of the galaxy seem to have an unique connection with the powers of Magi than some of the more sentient races.

While the argument of whatever we do or do not become part of the wellspring of magic when we pass away has been debated by different factions for centuries, there is not much disagreement that some creatures have developed a self-preservation cycle of life to guarantee future generations of said species to survive in one way or another.

  225. When a Creature perishes, its body starts to slowly decompose into particles of magic which are eventually casted away by invisible flows unknown by the humanoid eye. This energy eventually returns to the earth, to put it in some way; reincarnating into a new creature of the same species or its magic crossing with a series of streams to become a completely new thing: whatever it is flora or fauna.

The magical decomposing process' speed depend on the state of the body and soul at the time its lifespan was ended. things like the environment, the preservation of the corpse or even the cause of death can determine how much energy is returned to the flow of magic or if any at all, as some cases have been proven of a creature's demise have not been reincarnated; MEaning that the method is not in any way perfect and a balance must be struck so a particular species does not face extinction.

  229. Both Scientists and Mystics are still baffled at what is it that grants these examples the ability of such an astonishing survival mechanism. But one cannot be unimpressed as how the forces of magic grants us the chance to live in such a strange but marvelous universe.

  235. The Tran-Stellar Communicator, better known as the TSC, is one of the most used devices across the galaxy. This goes beyond just a simple communication device, as it also has a integrated computer which lets the user save information, connect to the MagiaNet, activate maps, and many other fucntions that can be modified or installed into the device. The TSC comes in a series of different models and sizes; varying from phones to wristbands, among many other forms. No space traveler should leave home without one!

  239. -The Omega Magi Spill Incident-

  241. A well known desaster that happened 5 years ago. A malfunction in the abck-then-new Omega Magia Siphoning station cause it to break apart and explode, causion tons of casualties on the staff and created a massive "pill" of cocnentrated energy, manifesting like a nebula around a chunk of the Octave Sector.

  243. This spill of Magi is incredibly dense and dangerous, and only special types of ship can cross it. It has also causes anormalities to the worlds caught in the radius, elaving them different than they once were.

  245. While the cleaning process has gone quite well, there's still a lot of discussion regarding the incoming Magi Siphoning projects, as they could result in an event such as this. The news of the incident havign just come out lately has only made said discussion much fierce.

Due to the nature of their powers and past history related to the event known as The Dark Artes War, some people mantain a careful or down-right aggresive attitude towards Yami. this ahs elad to phsyical and verbal abuse by many; One of said verbal abuses being commongly knows as claling them "Space Demons" or "Star Devilspawn".

  253. This has only fueled most Yami to stay with their own people and avoid expansion to toehr worlds. However, there are plenty of aprt sin the galaxy where Yami are accepted with no predjuice.

  259. A celebration that marks the start of Summer for Viridi Valley. with the warmth of the summer night, the population of Spritefires come out in their illuminating glory to glow all across the skies.
