  1. Jump 457: Batman: Arkham Asylum
  2. >Five of Swords (Defeat): A success earned through personal degradation.
  3. I think being chased around like this counts, yes.
  4. >Age: 18
  5. >Location: Arkham Asylum
  6. >Identity: Bat-Family
  7. More like the extended branch. Going back to the Crow identity for this one, rather than Sentinel, but we've gotta have SOME sort of continuity!
  8. >Drawbacks: (+700) Riddler'ed, Tick-Tock Croc
  9. Dealing with the Riddler is enough of a pain in the ass, but having Killer Croc chasing me through the asylum the whole time is a drawback that is worth every single one of those six hundred points, in this world. OUCH.
  10. >Rumor Mill (1600)
  11. Assuming I'll have enough time to listen to those idiots chatter when they should be paying attention.
  12. >Second Chance (1500)
  13. >Must Be Stupid (1300)
  14. And here I assumed these were both purposeful. I mean, don't the crooks have a union and everything?
  15. >It's Me, Remember? (Free, Bat-Family)
  16. Come on, I was in that one... issue... with the guy. Definitely not just shoehorned DLC.
  17. >World’s Greatest Detective (1200, Bat-Family)
  18. In other words, I actually pay attention and can draw a reasonable conclusion from things. It's... distressingly more rare than you'd think.
  19. >Enough To Kill 10 Men (1000, Bat-Family)
  20. Fear gas? Pff. That's an occupational hazard in Gotham, honestly, you build up a tolerance after a while.
  21. >Martial Arts Grandmaster (700, Bat-Family)
  22. First you learn to kill. Then you learn not to. Mercy can only be granted with sufficient skill.
  23. >Belt O' Tools (Free, Bat-Family)
  24. Well, of COURSE you need tools. It would be silly not to have them, in this city.
  25. >Bat Cave (400, Bat-Family)
  26. Bat Cave? More like the Crow's Nest. HEYOOOOO
  27. >Companion Import (x8) (0)
  28. Might as well bring in some friends. Hey, Batman's got tons of people on his side too.
  29.
  30. So... essentially I'm there throughout the first of the Arkham games, with various cameos. And Killer Croc doing his best Juggernaut impression as he breaks through walls and comes after me. After that, I'm pretty much gone. Right up to Arkham Knight, where I can probably be heard in the distant background screaming "YYOUU DENSE MOTHERFUCKER" every time someone is perplexed by the Knight's identity.
  31.
  32. And so it continues until the climax of the game: the Scarecrow is ready to unmask Batman on live television. Which is all well and good until the video feeds all go down, though Scarecrow seems that he doesn't notice. Gordon is already opening Batman's mask, and as Crane recognizes him, there's a crash in the distance. He pays no mind to it, jabs Batman with fear toxin, then a second time when Batman laughs at him, then a third time when he realizes Batman still isn't afraid. After that... he gets the fear toxin treatment himself after Jason Todd shoots one of Batman's restraints away, before the attention snaps to the doorway with a much closer crash. I run through, utterly ignoring everyone including the Scarecrow as he starts shooting at me. And with another crash, Killer Croc breaks through the entryway which had been a bit too narrow for him. Which throws everything into complete chaos. Because he's been chasing me around Arkham for YEARS AND EVERYONE FORGOT YOU DENSE MOTHERFUCKERS I ASKED FOR HELP.
  33.
  34. In the confusion, Scarecrow panics, Gordon frees Batman, Batman frees Robin, and both of them grab Gordon and run. I run back through the room again, pursued by Killer Croc, before tackling the still-screaming Scarecrow. Professor Crane is unmasked, I throw my mask on him, and throw him toward the slightly confused but still enraged Croc. At which point he charges one more time, grabs him, and tears his throat out before he can protest. At which point Jason Todd and I ran like hell.
  35.
  36. Because nobody in their right mind wants to deal with Killer Croc when he's hungry.
  37.
  38. Also, on the plus side, without Bruce Wayne getting unmasked, nobody else is going to look at the Justice League too closely. I mean, that DOES exist in this universe, right?
