  1. Komadori sighed. Fashion was something she had, at most, a passing relationship with. Looking good was just something that did not come naturally to her. When she was young, she was kinda dumpy looking, and now as an adult, she'd been more set on mastering her skills as a gunslinger than looking good doing so. In fact, after all her time in the desert, even keeping clean and hygenic had become a challenge. Komadori had developed a nihilistic view at keeping clean. Why bother washing yourself when a heatwave or a sandstorm could come at a moment's notice and ruin everything?
  2.
  3. And now, here she is, at a Beauty Paegent of all things. Her sworn enemy turned bitter rival Gaku was helping coach her and giving her advice, but truthfully the werewolf was not that much better than her when it came to fashion. She was certain his entire experience with it came from video games and anime. "Well, he knows what looks cool, at least," she thought to herself. Petrov, a very large and imposing Todoroki and private detective, had become her father figure in recent years and she really wished he was here to support her, but it was her idea to have him get the dirt on the competition. He'd be around later, but that's only assuming she made it through the first round.
  4.
  5. Gaku bit his lip, looking at Komadori's final getup. He eyed her from head to toe. Frankly, Komadori's outfit for this round wasn't much different than what she normally wore, just a bit more stylized. "The first round is to introduce yourself, basically, and this should do it," Gaku said. Komadori sighed. "I still feel ridiculous," she said. "Hm. Is it the skirt? Was that too far?" Gaku questioned. "No, I'm grateful I get to wear something I'd probably wear anyways," Komadori began calmly, "but just... going out on stage and relying on my looks... that's not something I have any experience with. When I learned gunslinging, I set myself up for humiliation time and time again, but I was never judged for it." She sped up as she talked, her voice beginning to tremble a little, "this competition... I'm going out there with no experience up in front of judges and an audience!"
  6.
  7. Gaku sighed. "Look, there's no shame in defeat, here. If people could die of embarassment, nobody would live past their teenage years. The worst that will happen is you will be eliminated, and you'll most certainly live to fight, or dress up, another day," he said. "... When did you become so wise?" Komadori said flatly with a hint of contempt, but noticeably less tremble. "Believe me, I'm not," Gaku said, looking off to the side, "I just have experience with being mocked."
  8.
  9. Komadori got off her stool and wandered across the dressing room. It wouldn't be long before she had to go out there. "You remember why you're here, right?" Gaku asked. "... I lost a sparring match against you, and this was the stakes," she grumbled. "Right, so you better embarass yourself at least a little. Otherwise, it's no fun for me!" Gaku said, with a sly smile. "Oh fuck you," Komadori said, exasperadly.
  10.
  11. Gaku noticed something out of the corner of his eye, a pair of heeled boots sitting in the corner, untouched. He tilted his head, then looked at Komadori's feet. She was wearing a perfectly sensible pair of riding boots. "Hey... aren't you supposed to be wearing those heeled boots?" Gaku said, pointing at them. "No. Heeled boots are completely senseless and even with my supernatural physicality running in them is hard and painful. I'll wear these boots and these boots only." Gaku gave an exaggerated sigh, "you're not going out there to fight, you're walking the catwalk! Sensibility is the least of your concerns...." Komadori gave a loud, dramatic "Uuuugh."
  12.
  13. "Fine then," Gaku said, "you have everything else you need?" Komadori held up one of her own flintlock pistols. "Yeah." Gaku leapt towards her, shouting "wait, wait, wait! You can't go out there with a real gun!" Komadori tilted her head and said, "oh, right." Gaku scrambled around the room, before pulling out a Nerf pistol from a box. "Here, take this, and get out there, it's time," he said, passing the pistol to her and taking her own back. Komadori took a deep breath in, her hair tentacles coiling up, and said "alright, I'll go break a leg out there." Gaku, carefully holding the flintlock, gave her a resounding, "good luck!"
  14.
  15. As Komadori walked out onto the stage, Gaku looked at the flintlock. "She didn't even have the safety on!"
