  1. One day in 1996, I bought a copy of Splatterhouse 3. When I put the cartridge into my Sega Genesis, everything was normal at first. I beat the game for the first time, but when I chose "Start" again, instead of saying "Stage 1: Mansion 1st Floor", it said "Stage Z", it then faded to black for a few seconds.
  2. It was just Rick (the character you play as in the game) walking to the right on a black screen, for split seconds digitized images of dead bodies of people that flashed on screen, I couldn’t tell who they were, because their faces were covered in some kind of bag or something. It faded to a cutscene that showed, "Evil One: Time to release the Dark Stone! Did you know I killed the people in those images?" I was horrified at what he said. It faded to the battle with The Evil One, I had only one life left in-game. The fight was kind of difficult, it was the regular battle with The Evil One in the regular game, but it was slightly easier, he had less health than normal. Surprisingly I beat him with barely any health on my health bar left in-game.
  3. The game froze, I then reset the console but it didn't work, I turned off the console and TV, but that didn’t work either. Then very bad quality low pitched music was playing, I recognized it was a bad quality low pitched version of Infected Jennifer, an actual music song from the game. About a couple minutes later I had the idea of unplugging the console, when I unplugged the console, my console along with the cartridge burst into flames. I put out the fire by pouring on it with a cup filled water, I threw the console’s and cartridge’s remains into the trash.
  4. I was very shocked and frightened after I played this game, for the reasons I will list. (1) It wasn’t even the actual game. (2) Were those dead bodies actually real? (3) Why weren’t the “Reset” and “Power” button working? (4) How did the console and cartridge burst into flames after I unplugged the system? Electronic devices do not work that way.
  5. I didn’t want to tell anyone about this event at the time. I had kind of forgotten about this some months after the event had happened. Just recently, a day ago, I was watching boss rush videos on Youtube (videos that show gameplay of someone beating all bosses in a video game), I saw a Splatterhouse 3 boss rush video, and that’s when the memories of that event rushed back to me. This story is what I could remember about this event.
