  1. [ALERT] Barakah Nuclear Power Plant Shuts Down
  2.
  3. ***Reuters*** -
  4.
  5. >The Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the United Kingdom of Arabia shut down late last night after a series of internal explosions crippled the plant's operating capability. It has not resulted in a meltdown situation, but the costs to repair the plant are estimated to be considerable, and some officials have questioned if it's worth it to do so - particularly given the high expenses of the recent war in Yemen. A $30 billion, 5,000+ MW, 8-year project, the Barakah Plant was a major facet of the UKA's effort to switch away from extreme oil reliance, but this has set them back considerably in that respect.
  6.
  7. >Initial examinations suggest that the damage caused to the plant were potentially not the result of malfunction but sabotage. There are many possible responsible candidates given the destruction of several major groups in Yemen as of late, and it will be difficult if not impossible to determine if there was truly a responsible foreign party, or if it was the work of a renegade citizen of the UKA.
