  1. >"Once again, the magic of friendship proves to be your greatest weakness" Tirek's voice boomed.
  2. (Line from episode omitted in greentext: "A fitting end to your pathetic story.")
  3. >The three villains held Twilight still and prepared to take her apart piece by piece.
  4. >Twilight, who was still bracing herself for the first blow, looked like she had just come to a sudden realization.
  5. "...What?" she asked in a very confused manner.
  6. >Chrysalis giggled like a school girl.
  7. >"Because of your pathetically predictable actions, Princess."
  8. >"We have overcome your so-called "Power of Friendship"" the bug queen hissed.
  9. >"Hehe, yeah!" Cozy chimed in as smugly hovered at eye level.
  10. >They all went back to their original poses.
  11. >Preparing to finish everything.
  12. >However, Twilight didn't resume her cowering stance.
  13. >Her demeanor did an entire 180.
  14. >Like a light switch had just been flipped on.
  15. "...Do you know how many times you three have said that to us?" the princess asked flippantly.
  16. >The smugness drained off the three villains's faces.
  17. >Instead replaced with frustrated confusion.
  18. >"What do mean!?" Tirek roared.
  19. >"Your armies are in ruin!"
  20. >"Your kingdom is demolished" Chrysalis glared through gritted teeth.
  21. >"And you don't have anymore tricks up your sleeve!" Cozy shrieked.
  22. >Tirek brought the indignant purple pony close to his face.
  23. >"The magic of friendship has lost this day, Princess."
  24. >"You've lost" the smugness returning to his words.
  25. >Like venom dripping from his tongue.
  26. >All Twilight did in reaction was roll her eyes and sigh.
  27. "You didn't answer my question, but okay" she looked down to the floor and back up to Tirek.
  28. "Do you mind?" Twilight asked very impatiently.
  29. >Tirek lost his edge once more and appeared dumbfounded.
  30. >Not really knowing what else to do he set Twilight down on the ground.
  31. "Thank you, now" she began.
  32. "Will you please answer my question from earlier?"
  33. >Cozy and Tirek started look awkwardly around at all the fallen ponies and destruction.
  34. >Chrissy was hovering in place huffing and puffing with her legs crossed.
  35.
  36. "Do you know how many times all three of you have said those disgustingly, stupid words?" Twilight said as if she were disciplining three dumb children.
  37. >Tirek and Cozy were still looking around hoping to find whoever gave this pony a sudden spine.
  38. >Twilight's annoyed glare found itself looking at Chrysalis.
  39. "You've been beaten by the power of friendship, love, and the power of friendship love."
  40. "We even stopped one of your stupid plans without even knowing you were doing anything." Twilight let that rest for a second.
  41. >Chrissy just huffed even more as her cheeks turned from black to crimson and black.
  42. >Twilight's accusing hoof turned to Tirek.
  43. >A drop of sweat rolled down the side of his face.
  44. "Rainbow power" was all she said as Twilight squinted her eyes towards the now trembling centaur..
  45. >Tirek gulped audibly.
  46. "And as for you, Cozy"
  47. >The little filly used a bit of Tirek's mane to hide behind.
  48. "You, better than these two, should understand the magic of friendship." her wing rubbed the bridge of her nose.
  49. >She sighed.
  50. "More importantly, you should have realized the power of our friendship" the increasingly agitated alicorn gestured from her to her friends behind her.
  51. "I figured either one of those two would tell you all about that." she sighed once more as Tirek's face poured out sweat.
  52. >Twilight brought a hoof to her face and took a deep breath in.
  53. "Basically, you three can preach, and laugh about how might is right or whatever."
  54. "Go to the ends of Equestria screaming that until your deaths."
  55. "But know, that time and time again" she took a dramatic pause.
  56. >The fire in her eyes was immense.
  57. "The power of friendship has utterly and totally defeated all three of you."
  58. "Over, and over, and over again"
  59. >The three villains stood frozen.
  60. >Perhaps now remembering every loss started off the same way.
  61. >When they started to brag.
  62. >Twilight's eyes began to glow.
  63. "Perhaps in another world you three would reign without worry.
  64. >Cozy hid behind the other two
  65.
  66. "One where you conquer through every obstacle with sheer power."
  67. >Tirek hid behind Chrysalis.
  68. "One where the magic of friendship doesn't mean anything." Twilight and her friends formed a heart.
  69. >Eyes pure white when a small smirk appeared on her lips.
  70. >Tirek and Chrysalis turned pale as they realized what was to come.
  71. >Cozy was just locked onto her cohort's faces.
  72. >Bracing for whatever was happening.
  73. "Too bad you three ended up here." Twilight continued as the humming of the rainbow intensified.
  74. "Where friendship."
  75. "Is."
  76. "Magic!" she triumphantly finished.
  77. >The same old song and dance followed.
  78. >An annihilating rainbow laser crashed upon the three.
  79. >Stripping them of their ill-gotten power.
  80. >They lost.
  81. >Again.
  82.
  83. >A scrawny Tirek, a still pissed of Chrysalis, and a terrified Cozy Glow were all that remained from the rainbow.
  84. >Twilight and the girls returned to the ground.
  85. >The blue sky tore through the grey and let the Sun finally shine.
  86. >Twilight looked upon the three defeated bad guys.
  87. >"You still haven't won yet y-you fool!" Chrysalis was still running her mouth.
  88. >Twilight felt a strange tingle run down her spine seeing such a sight.
  89. >Even through all the trouble and mayhem they've caused.
  90. >Perhaps she was feeling pity for them.
  91. >Maybe guilt for not doing something to help them reform sooner.
  92. >Before another word could be spoke, Princess Celestia stamped her front hoof down in a mighty crash.
  93. >Silencing the fallen queen.
  94. >Princess Luna, and Celestia looked down upon the three baddies.
  95. >Fury and fire in their eyes.
  96. >Twilight felt slight unease.
  97. "The princesses know what they're doing" she thought.
  98. >Her heart's pace quickened as Discord teleported between the two Princesses and whispered something in their ears.
  99. >Princess Celestia in particular enjoyed hearing whatever it was.
  100. >With finality humming in the air.
  101. >Discord teleported once more beside the two princesses.
  102. >Twilight's head felt like it was going split.
  103. >Deep down inside, she could feel an overwhelming urge kicking her insides.
  104. >Trying to push her in the right direction.
  105. >The powerful hum of magic began to fill the air.
  106. >Twilight's legs remained stone-like.
  107. >She couldn't move them.
  108. >But her horn.
  109. >Focusing as hard as her willpower would let her.
  110. >Her horn came to life with a sudden blip of magic.
  111. >Moving her right in front of the villains and the firing squad before them.
  112. "WAIT!" her vocal cords paralyzed no more now shouted her command.
  113. >Booming all around her.
  114. >Through the haze around her eyes she saw the extremely surprised expressions of Celestia, Luna, and Discord.
  115. >By now Twilight's chest was heaving in and out heavily.
  116. >Every feeling amplified as if one hundred times over.
  117. >All eyes were on her
  118.
  119. >She had drawn the attention with the soapbox she raised.
  120. >Now she had to follow through.
  121. >"What is the meaning of this, Twilight Sparkle?" Princess Luna spat out astonished.
  122. >The night princess's brow furrowed.
  123. >"Surely, you do not feel sympathy to such horrid creatures!"
  124. >Luna's harsh words caused Twilight's spirit to waver slightly.
  125. >The drive that made her do such a thing was beginning to leave.
  126. >However, Twilight saw a white hoof rest itself on Princess Luna's shoulder.
  127. >"Twilight..." Princess Celestia practically whispered.
  128. >The younger sister turned to Celestia and saw her face.
  129. >Unsure, and doubtful.
  130. >Through some weird source of motivation, Twilight finally felt her thoughts had some form of order.
  131. >She closed her eyes and let out a deep breath.
  132. "My title is "Princess of Friendship", correct?" she plainly asked.
  133. >Both the princesses looked from one another.
  134. >"Indeed, you are the princess of friendship, Twilight." Her idol's words spoke with certainty
  135. "Good, then can I ask another question?"
  136. >Everyone at this point was hanging off every word Twilight spoke.
  137. >Celestia's stoic face nodded.
  138. >A small part of her knew what was coming next.
  139. >Twilight stood tall even if her limbs felt like rubber.
  140. >She cleared her throat.
  141. "What kind of friendship is this?"
  142. >The silence was mind-numbing.
  143. "What are we doing?"
  144. >Her face turned back to the trio of villainy.
  145. >Each one on edge.
  146. >But each one listening.
  147. >Discord popped the silence like an overfilled balloon as he teleported in front of Twilight.
  148. "Oh puh-lease, you're not really going to try and defend them now." His eye stared right into Twilight's soul.
  149. "Are you Twilight?"
  150. >Twilight's wings flared in response.
  151. >But Discord blipped back by Celestia's side before she could say anything.
  152. "For the good of Equestria this has to be done." his tone absolute.
  153. "Right Celly?"
  154.
  155. >No response from the elder sister.
  156. >Princess Luna looked up once more at her face.
  157. >"Sister, as much as I hate agreeing with Discord, I do not see hope in reforming those three."
  158. >Celestia sighed.
  159. >"You have our attention, Twilight" her voice was stern.
  160. >Discord's exasperated expression once more greeted Twilight's vision.
  161. >"We will respect your piece before we declare our judgement."
  162. >A pit of unease form all around with Celestia's princess speak.
  163. >For it meant Twilight had maybe minutes at most to say anything.
  164. >Do anything.
  165. >She listened to her heart.
  166. >It had taken her this far.
  167. >Maybe it could get her a little further.
  168. "...I know, I know it sounds like I'm defending their actions." she began.
  169. "But, I'm not."
  170. >Twilight's friends looked upon her with varying emotions.
  171. >Most filled with concern.
  172. "I didn't defend Starlight's actions when she almost destroyed time itself."
  173. >"I didn't defend Sunset Shimmer's actions when she almost enslaved another world plus our own."
  174. >Her anxiety ridden heart was pounding in her ears.
  175. >Twilight felt like she was on a roll.
  176. "I stopped them" she stated
  177. "And when I realized they were going down a dark path" the purple princess paused.
  178. "Well, I showed them that there was another way."
  179. >For the first time today, Twilight felt a smile creep on her face.
  180. "They just needed a friend to show them is all." Twilight spoke with hopes high.
  181. >Discord interjected once again.
  182. >Clapping sarcastically.
  183. "Yesyes, and without baconhair and Glimmer, Equestria would have fallen ten times over blahblah-blah." He spoke not trying to hide the annoyance in his tone
  184. >He appeared fully formed in between Twilight and the princesses.
  185. "But, and this is a big but, everyone you reformed Ms. Friendship had accepted your olive branch." His lion paw turned into a stick and jabbed into Twilight's side.
  186. "Eventually, even moi." he pointed at himself.
  187. >He jabbed his branch hand at the villains.
  188. "Meanwhile, those three keep fighting you every step of the way."
  189.
  190. >Twilight's stone-like gaze never left Discord's form.
  191. >Her eyes narrowed as her determined face took over.
  192. "Funny thing Discord, I seem to remember another, certain, draconequus who "fought" me on the magic of friendship."
  193. >Discord shrank himself down upon hearing such words.
  194. "Believing power to be friendship just like those three."
  195. >The chaos lord of mischief grew mouse ears and squeaked guilty.
  196. "Then...do you want to tell what happens next?"
  197. >Twilight asked her ace-in-the-hole question.
  198. >Discord reappeared normal sized and non-mouse eared.
  199. "I got betrayed by moose tracks over there and you gave me a second chance despite everything." the lord of chaos crossed his arms and pouted.
  200. "Is that what you wanted to hear, princess?"
  201. >All Twilight could do in response is smile albeit smugly.
  202. >Before Twilight could gloat however, Princess Celestia abruptly cleared her throat.
  203. >Bringing everyone's attention back to the two sisters.
  204. >"Twilight, I see where you're going with this..." she trailed off as if to pick her next words carefully.
  205. >The smugness eased off of Twilight's face.
  206. >"...How do you suggest they be reformed?" the elder sister bluntly stated.
  207. >Princess Luna's head swiveled to her side as quick as a whip.
  208. >Worry coated her expression.
  209. >"Sister?" She said as if Celestia had gone mad.
  210. >She had raised her hoof to silence her younger sibling.
  211. >Even if no one felt it.
  212. >She knew what she was doing.
  213. >Hopefully.
  214.
  215. >>"...How do you suggest they be reformed?" the elder sister bluntly stated.
  216. "I don't.
  217.
  218. "You can't force creatures to change, or to accept your friendship. Some creatures never will. But that doesn't mean that you stop treating them like living beings. Are you going to seal your nephew in stone too?
  219.
  220. "When a creature rejects your friendship, you offer it to them again. And again, and again, every chance you get. That's what being Princess of Friendship means.
  221.
  222. "We can give them each a choice. Tirek can go back to Tartarus, or home to the Nether Lands. Chrysalis can go with Tirek, or into Thorax's custody. Cozy can go with one or the other. Or any of them can stay with me, and I'll take full responsibility for them."
