- Attacker(s): 20+ unknown black males.
- Description: Denton and Lauren went with another couple to the local college McDonalds, unaware that it was a hotspot for drug dealing and gang activity at night, and that there were approximately 400 young black men at the location. Denton and his male friend went inside to use the bathroom, while the girls went through the drive through. On the way out of the bathroom Tanner heard someone say: “You’re in the wrong neck of the woods, cowboys.” Tanner was punched in the face by a random member of the mob, then Denton tried to save his friend, only to be hit from behind and knocked to the floor, where he was set upon by at least 20 black males who kicked him in the head, neck, chin, and even jumped on top of his body.
- Tanner and the girls attempted to get him to the hospital, but in the panic Samantha ran a red light, and a truck hit the rear of the vehicle, killing Lauren.
- One unknown male served 90 days in connection with the assault on Tanner, but no other arrests were made.
