  1. Today is the 19th of Daedalan, 579 years after the fall of the Seleucarian
  2. Empire.
  3.
  4. Amunet arrives from the in.
  5.
  6. A fanfaronade of string music resounds throughout the courtyard, marking the
  7. commencement of a majestic march.
  8.
  9. Amidst a crescendo of violin and viola, Amunet appears, the train of her gown
  10. trailing extravagantly behind her as she makes her way through the throng of
  11. onlookers at a slow, regal pace.
  12.
  13. Her face alight with an exuberant smile, Amunet takes a final, deliberate step,
  14. falling into place beside Orklanishkal.
  15.
  16. Flair's mouth turns up as his face breaks into a smile.
  17.
  18. Sachiel beams broadly.
  19.
  20. Orklanishkal flashes Amunet a joyous smile.
  21.
  22. Flair clears his throat, beseeching for silence as he gazes out across the
  23. audience.
  24.
  25. Flair waits for the murmers of the crowd to subside to whispers then begins to
  26. read solemnly from a weathered book clutched shakily within his arthritic hands.
  27.
  28. Mordanyconus idly produces a corroded chain from a hidden fold of his robes and
  29. watches the proceedings with three unblinking eyes.
  30.
  31. Prophet of Babel, Flair Ze'Dekiah says, "When everything began, when Ayar became
  32. Ayar and called forth reality from the abyss, it was in the shape of the Twin.
  33. The Twin is Creation and Chaos, parallel, mirroring one another perfectly. It is
  34. a power that echoes down through the ages in endless repetition. It is Light and
  35. Darkness, Male and Female, Good and Evil, Active and Passive, Time and Space,
  36. Change and Continuity."
  37.
  38. Prophet of Babel, Flair Ze'Dekiah says, "The true truth of the Twin, however, is
  39. that it is a lie. Though the two were intended to be separate, they could not
  40. stay thus. They always come together. Sometimes it happens swiftly. Sometimes it
  41. takes centuries. But when it happens, it happens with consequences. When the
  42. Horror met Maya, it was such a moment. When Ayar met Proteus, it was such a
  43. moment. When Servelan met the Unnamable, it was such a moment. When Maya met
  44. Makali, it was such a moment. When the opposites touch, there is always
  45. explosive change."
  46.
  47. Flair glances up at the crowd, closing the book soundly as he continues to speak.
  48.
  49. Prophet of Babel, Flair Ze'Dekiah says, "In daily life, it is rare that the Twin
  50. is represented more obviously than in marriage - a solemnised agreement in which
  51. two separate entities are bound together by an irresistible compulsion to keep
  52. one another's company. Though love is as tempestuous as Chaos itself, and
  53. marriage can be as ephemeral as the mortal lives that enter into it, no
  54. individual has ever walked away from such a union as the same person they were
  55. upon saying their vows. Whether a couple divorces after a year, or ends up
  56. sharing a coffin, their wedding day served as the end of one existence, and in
  57. that end, a new beginning - potential - was found."
  58.
  59. Prophet of Babel, Flair Ze'Dekiah says, "And so, friends, we have gathered to
  60. celebrate a union that was as inevitable as Oblivion...and has kept us waiting
  61. just as long."
  62.
  63. Flair flashes a grin at the couple standing before him, his teeth dripping
  64. gruesomely with ichor.
  65.
  66. Prophet of Babel, Flair Ze'Dekiah says, "Today, Orklanishkal Eruu'Yul and Amunet
  67. Viatrix, two lifelong servants of Chaos, come together in matrimony. They shall
  68. tear asunder the world that has for so long kept them apart, to lay the
  69. foundations of a more powerful realm in which they shall live as one. These two
  70. people - my dearest friends - have accomplished so much alone that it is both
  71. wondrous and terrifying to think of what they may achieve as husband and wife.
  72. If ever Creation has had reason to tremble, this marriage is it."
  73.
  74. Prophet of Babel, Flair Ze'Dekiah says, "If anyone has cause to object, here is
  75. your final chance."
  76.
  77. Orklanishkal smirks.
  78.
  79. Isis says with a mild Ashtani accent, "I object.
  80.
  81. A miniature monkey raises his hand in the air.
  82.
  83. Agrias says in a hallowed voice, "Climb up, monkey."
  84. A miniature monkey jumps up into Agrias's arms.
  85.
  86. Corbeaux raises an eyebrow questioningly.
  87.
  88. Prophet of Babel, Flair Ze'Dekiah says, "Please file all objection in Cyrene."
  89.
  90. Orklanishkal utters a deep, rumbling laugh.
  91.
  92. You smirk.
  93. The corners of Isis's mouth turn up as she grins mischievously.
  94. The corners of Amunet's mouth turn up as she grins mischievously.
  95. Sachiel snickers softly to himself.
  96. Corbeaux smirks.
  97. The corners of Agrias's mouth turn up as he grins mischievously.
  98.
  99. Flair begins to wield an obsidian dagger in his left hand.
  100.
  101. Flair produces a dagger from within the folds of his robe, kneeling unsteadily
  102. upon the ground as his ravaged joints creak in protest. He begins to chant in a
  103. low voice, the whispered words resounding with eldritch power that permeates
  104. even the furthest edges of the courtyard.
  105.
  106. Flair plunges the blade deeply into the grass and begins to slice a circle
  107. around the feet of the couple.
  108.
  109. Flair stands with some difficulty as the circle is closed. The chant upon his
  110. lips slowly fades as he pulls himself to his full height.
  111.
  112. Prophet of Babel, Flair Ze'Dekiah says, "If either of you would like to say
  113. anything to each other, now may be your last chance."
  114.
  115. Amunet smiles brilliantly as she turns to look at Orklanishkal, unrestrained
  116. elation swimming within her chocolate eyes as she begins to speak.
  117.
  118. Amunet says in a chic, liquored voice, "A long time ago--much longer than I
  119. would prefer to admit--I met a very young man with whom I fell madly in love."
  120.
  121. Amunet says in a chic, liquored voice, "Over the years, I followed him devotedly.
  122. His mere presence seemed to resonate with my soul, and although he rarely
  123. reciprocated my affection, there was no need--it was more than enough just to be
  124. near him. I tried, sometimes, to pursue other, lesser men, but I always felt
  125. myself drawn back to his side. It was much greater than a compulsion. It was a
  126. necessity."
  127.
  128. Amunet rubs her thumb fondly over the battered tin surface of her engagement
  129. ring as she says softly, The moment he put this ring on my finger was the
  130. happiest of my life.
  131.
  132. Amunet hands a bouquet of Zaphar lilies to you before clasping both of
  133. Orklanishkal's hands tightly within her own.
  134.
  135. Amunet says fervidly to Orklanishkal in a chic, liquored voice, "Compared to my
  136. love for you, all other affections are but an insubstantial facsimile. I have
  137. known since the moment we met, when I first lost myself within your eyes, to
  138. whom my heart truly belonged. Though I would have stood with you to the end,
  139. even if you had never asked for my hand, I am honoured to give myself to you
  140. today--to be yours, formally and completely. When the time comes to walk into
  141. Oblivion, I can bid farewell to this world knowing that I carry with me the most
  142. precious treasure this mortal life had to offer."
  143.
  144. As a serene smile toys at the corners of her lips, Amunet slips a handsome
  145. wedding band of white gold onto Orklanishkal's finger.
  146.
  147. Orklanishkal says in a soft, raspy voice, "For nearly two hundred years, my dear
  148. Amunet, you have stood by my side."
  149.
  150. Orklanishkal smiles softly at Amunet, his eyes glistening as he looks directly
  151. into Amunet's gaze.
  152.
  153. Orklanishkal says in a soft, raspy voice, "At any moment, whenever I've needed
  154. you, you've been there. Throughout my exile, my triumphs, my defeats, and my
  155. journeys, you have been the one constant in my life."
  156.
  157. Orklanishkal says in a soft, raspy voice, "Although, I must confess, I did not
  158. always recognize what you meant to me, you stayed true. You have been a wife to
  159. me since long before we contemplated this step."
  160.
  161. Orklanishkal takes a deep breath, and a wicked grin works its way onto his face,
  162. his confidence seeming to return.
  163.
  164. Orklanishkal says in a soft, raspy voice, "I am honoured to know you, and
  165. honoured to stand here, at this place, with you. I swear to you, and to all
  166. gathered, that I will spend my life earning the sharing of it with you."
  167.
  168. Orklanishkal says in a soft, raspy voice, "I promise, that wherever life takes
  169. us, unto Oblivion, I will not forsake our bond."
  170.
  171. Orklanishkal says in a soft, raspy voice, "I promise to love you, to cherish you,
  172. and to support you, throughout our lives. Wherever your path takes you, I will
  173. follow."
  174.
  175. Orklanishkal gives a conspicuous diamond-paved wedding band to Amunet.
  176.
  177. Prophet of Babel, Flair Ze'Dekiah says, "We call upon the power of Chaos to bind
  178. these individuals to one another. In the name of Babel, I consecrate Amunet and
  179. Orklanishkal as the Twin. Though born separate, they shall become one."
  180.
  181. Flair's eyes glow with violet flame as he raises on gnarled hand to trace the
  182. Mark of the Twin in the air in front of the couple.
  183.
  184. The caw of a raven echoes in the air as the Prophet of Babel calls upon the name
  185. of the ineffable Inevitability.
  186.
  187. Orklanishkal laces the fingers of his hands together with Amunet's, his eyes
  188. locking with hers as he begins a soft incantation.
  189.
  190. Orklanishkal chants quietly in Human in a soft, raspy voice, "Dal Ekawr nninn
  191. khata zhus balbauka drao."
  192.
  193. Tendrils of viridian energy unfurl from between Orklanishkal's fingers, writhing
  194. around the couple's entwined hands before making its way slowly up Amunet's arms.
  195.
  196. Amunet chants in Human in a chic, liquored voice, "Dys ain Ekawr nnin khata oibh
  197. mar."
  198.
  199. Sanguineous wisps smoulder across the pale flesh of Amunet's hands, joining the
  200. emerald energy in a mesmerising dance before beginning its ascent toward
  201. Orklanishkal's elbows.
  202.
  203. Mordanyconus tilts his head thoughtfully, running a hand along the length of the
  204. corroded chain he bears.
  205.
  206. Orklanishkal chants in Human in a soft, raspy voice, "Laqpila lil lageple dys
  207. lil ula."
  208.
  209. Amunet chants in Human in a chic, liquored voice, "Piga qui thio daruen oibh ai
  210. laq."
  211.
  212. Luminous ropes of crimson and green slither across the couple's bodies,
  213. spiralling wildly about their torsos toward the ground below.
  214.
  215. Orklanishkal chants in Human in a soft, raspy voice, "Xxal thio daip ai khaar
  216. lostamh ulo thi."
  217.
  218. Amunet chants in Human in a chic, liquored voice, "Xxal thio daip ai khar
  219. lostamh ulo thi."
  220.
  221. As the glowing ribbons reach the ground, the circle carved around them floods
  222. with incandescence. A helix of power surges around the couple, shooting toward
  223. the sky in a brilliant aurora of red and green.
  224.
  225. Amunet draws back with a knowing smirk and utters some alien word that you
  226. cannot comprehend. Orklanishkal suddenly becomes very still and bleeds from his
  227. eyes and ears.
  228.
  229. Orklanishkal draws back with a knowing smirk and utters some alien word that you
  230. cannot comprehend. Amunet suddenly becomes very still and bleeds from her eyes
  231. and ears.
  232.
  233. With a single, swift motion, almost carelessly, Mordanyconus grasps the length
  234. of chain in both hands and pulls it sharply. It shatters, and with that, the
  235. world goes mad.
  236.
  237. The air grows thin and strained with tension, and a high-pitched whining sounds
  238. in your ears. Your surroundings appear momentarily twisted and bizarre, with odd
  239. projections and bends. Abruptly, the fabric of space is rent open along the
  240. lines of red and green energy, and the happy couple is dragged into a door to
  241. the threshold of the Void. Creation mends itself with an unpleasant squelching
  242. noise behind them.
  243.
  244. A wave of disorientation passes over you as Creation shudders from the passage
  245. of Amunet and Orklanishkal, locked in the embrace of marriage, into the depths
  246. of the Void.
  247.
  248. Terra looks sceptical and says with a cold, Rajamalan accent, "Marriage is
  249. always interesting around here."
  250.
  251. Sachiel's laces his fingers together, waiting patiently.
  252.
  253. Enyd says, "Do we cheer now?"
  254.
  255. As an almost imperceptible tear forms at the corner of his eye, Fitz begins to
  256. clap wildly, a purple aura briefly flickering about him.
  257.
  258. A swirl of roiling black smoke and dancing eldritch flame parts to reveal Amunet.
  259. A swirl of roiling black smoke and dancing eldritch flame parts to reveal
  260. Orklanishkal.
  261.
  262. (There is much cheering and congratulating as the couple reappears.)
  263.
  264. Flair solemnly asks, "Do you, Amunet and Orklanishkal, each vow to take the
  265. other's hand and bind it to yours in matrimony?"
  266.
  267. Mordanyconus quietly stows two broken lengths of chain in a secret fold of his
  268. robes.
  269.
  270. Orklanishkal joyfully agrees to bind his hand to Amunet's in matrimony.
  271.
  272. Amunet joyfully agrees to bind her hand to Orklanishkal's in matrimony.
  273. The melodious chiming of wedding bells rings out, celebrating the marriage of
  274. Amunet and Orklanishkal.
  275.
  276. (Much more cheering and congratulating and toasts follow.)
  277.
  278. Fats, a zombie elephant says, "Now where's the booze?"
  279.
  280. Mordanyconus is suddenly engulfed in a swirling fog of shimmering distortion
  281. that fades to leave only a single red eye hovering in midair. A moment later,
  282. the eye slowly closes and leaves only empty space where the human had been.
  283.
