  1. “Hey, are you alright?” I asked her.
  2.
  3. Mor just nods with a grin then pinches one of my cheeks.
  4.
  5. “Yeah, don’t worry Anon. If anything, I’m just happy with you being here right now ha ha.”
  6.
  7. I’m still curious to what the big deal was, so I take another peek at the elf, and it appears that her and her friends are acting as if nothing happened. I know that Mor was being a little loud, but maybe she took it a little too far? Eh, maybe she’s just having a bad day.
  8.
  9. Our food finally arrives at our table with a great aroma filling our noses. The burger I got looked kind of greasy and the French fries had a sheen that looked as if it was just taken out of the fryer. Mor’s meal on the other hand, was just 2 wraps filled with buffalo chicken and spinach, and had a side cup of ranch to dip it in.
  10.
  11. Mor takes a couple of bites out of the wrap as I begin to start eating as well. She then pauses and looks at me.
  12.
  13. “Hmm… want a bite? It tastes pretty good.”
  14.
  15. She extends her arm to put the wrap in front of mouth without any answer from me. I bite down on it and tear a small piece off. Mm, she’s right this does taste good.
  16.
  17. “Well since I had some of yours, do you want to try this?” I say offering my food in front of her, in the same fashion.
  18.
  19. She nods and takes a bite out of it. I can see her cheeks turning a little red at our exchange of food. We both eat our food in silence with occasional glances at each other, but look away in embarrassment once we lock eyes.
  20.
  21. Finally finishing our meals, we prepare to head out of the café. Out of curiosity, I take one more look at the elf that made a scene, but she noticed my gaze. Her green eyes locked onto mine for a couple of seconds and then she shakes her head with a look of disdain.
  22.
  23.
  24. Once we were out of the café, Mor walked in front of me with her hands behind her back and a prance in her step.
  25.
  26. “It was really nice of you to come with me today. I had a good time,” she says suddenly turning back towards me.
  27.
  28. I scratch my head and look away in embarrassment.
  29.
  30. “Y-yeah, me too.”
  31.
  32. I can’t believe I pushed this off for this long. I thought that I was going to be mauled or something! I guess I really can’t judge her just because she’s an orc. We could probably end up really good friends.
  33.
  34. “I guess I’ll see you later then Mor!” I say starting to walk away.
  35.
  36. Suddenly, I feel a hand grabbing mine from behind. I look back to see Mor with a desperate look in her eyes.
  37.
  38. “Wait! Where are you going?”
  39.
  40. “Oh, I was just going to go home. Probably will end up getting some homework done.”
  41.
  42. She sighs then digs around in her pocket for a bit and pulls out a phone.
  43.
  44. “If that’s the case… Anon, give me your number.”
  45.
  46. I shrug then pull my flip phone from out of my pocket.
  47.
  48. “Pff Anon, what the heck!?”
  49.
  50. She points at my phone and covers her mouth as she tries to contain her laughter.
  51.
  52. “W-what’s so funny?”
  53.
  54. She grabs my phone from my hand and starts clicking away.
  55.
  56. “I haven’t seen one of these in forever! You should get a more updated one ha ha.”
  57.
  58. I look away in embarrassment as she continues to click away on my phone.
  59.
  60. “I never really found a reason to get another one since I never use it.”
  61.
  62. She lifts an eyebrow at me and pauses her texting to look at me.
  63.
  64. “Why not?”
  65.
  66. “To be honest, I don’t really have any friends, so getting another phone is pointless.”
  67.
  68. She finishes her texting and puts my phone in my palm. Then she uses her other hand and wraps it around me hand, warming my hand with hers.
  69.
  70. “Well… you have one now. Text me anytime, okay? I’ll always be here to talk if you need anything” she says winking at me.
  71.
  72. I nod and we say our goodbyes to each other as we both head off in separate directions.
  73.
  74.
  75. While I make my way home, I begin to reflect on everything that happened today.
  76.
  77. “Man… if I never left the house, I wouldn’t have eaten with Mor. It all seems so surreal. Why did she invite me to eat with her in the first place? What’s so good about a guy like me? Was that a date? Nah, it couldn’t have been. Why would anyone want to go out with someone like me?”
  78.
  79. Finally making it to my front door, I reach into my pockets to grab my keys, but brush my fingers against my flip phone.
  80.
  81. “Oh, that’s right. She was texting some stuff in my phone. What was that all about?”
  82.
  83. I open my phone and notice that there’s one unread message:
  84.
  85. Anon (11:05 AM): Mor is the best! <3
  86. Mor (11:06 AM): No, you are! <3
  87.
  88. Ha ha, what the heck?
  89.
  90. I open the door and head inside. I turn on the heater to get the chill out of the air.
  91.
  92. “I guess I should get started on that homework.”
  93.
  94. …Or so I thought.
  95.
  96.
  97. Minutes later, I boot up my computer, put on my noise cancelling headphones, and start browsing through some videos. I eventually direct myself to some fighting game tournament footage and start getting hyped up.
  98.
  99. “It’s been a while, but I should get a little bit of practice on Guilty Gear. I’ll just play a couple of matches then I’ll get started on my homework,” I say trying to reason with myself.
  100.
  101. I launch Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator- and hop into online mode.
  102.
  103.
  104. “Ah, those were some pretty good matches,” I say stretching out.
  105.
  106. I exit out of the game to see that it’s 10:30 PM. My heart drops as I shakily pull out the sheets of homework that were assigned. I flip through about 6 pages worth of equations that I need to solve.
  107.
  108. “Shoot, maybe I’ll try and get started on them now.”
  109.
  110. I take out my notes and attempt to go through the problems to no avail. I take a look at the first question and nothing is coming to me. Beginning to slouch, I rest my head on the table next to the sheets of bullshit in front of me. It seems that both my mind and body didn’t want to cooperate tonight.
  111.
  112. “I guess I’ll just try and figure it out tomorrow,” I sigh frustratingly.
  113.
  114. While putting all my school stuff away, I accidentally brush against an object than falls onto the carpet. I look down to see that it’s my flip phone that is now propped open due to the fall.
  115.
  116. 5 UNREAD MESSAGES!
  117.
  118. “Woah! I didn’t even see that.”
  119.
  120. I push OK, and see that all 5 messages are from Mor that where sent all throughout my time at home:
  121.
  122. Mor (12:16 PM): I had a really good time today. Let’s do it again sometime! ;)
  123. Mor (2:34 PM): Anon! What’cha up to?
  124. Mor (3:45 PM): This homework sucks, Anon! Want to study together sometime?
  125. Mor (4:01 PM): You should check your phone more often -_-
  126. Mor (9:32 PM): Are you asleep?
  127.
  128. “Uh oh, I hope she doesn’t think I’m ignoring her or anything,” I say as I hastily begin to reply.
  129.
  130. Anon (10:47 PM): No, not yet. Sorry, I just read your messages. That homework was pretty brutal though. I just started it a while ago.
  131.
  132. After sending the message, I put the phone by on the table and start getting changed into my pajamas. While pulling up the red cotton pants, the phone vibrates on the table furiously. I take a glance at it to see that it’s Mor who’s calling so I pick it up with a slight apprehension.
  133.
  134. “Uh, Hello?” I say anxiously.
  135.
  136. “…”
  137.
  138. There was no response on the other end, which made me tense up a little.
  139.
  140. “… HEY, ANON!”
  141.
  142. I jumped at the loud voice and pulled the phone away from my ear as a slight ringing filled my ear.
  143.
  144. “Ha ha, got’cha! Scared ya, didn’t I?” She says trying to hold back her laugh on the other end.
  145.
  146. I put my ear up to the phone again as I facepalm myself.
  147.
  148. “Yeah yeah, you got me. Why’d you call though? You could have just texted me,” I asked without coming off too harshly.
  149.
  150. There was another slight pause on the other end again, making me somewhat nervous.
  151.
  152. “Well, I just wanted to talk with you. That’s all~”
  153.
  154. I could feel the blood rush to my face.
  155.
  156. “A-anyways! That homework, huh? W-what’s with that?” I say with flustered tone.
  157.
  158. “Yeah, it sucks. We should work on it together tomorrow.”
  159.
  160. I don’t have any classes that I have to go to tomorrow, so it should be fine.
  161.
  162. “Sure, where do you want to meet up?” I ask.
  163.
  164. “Hmm… what about your house, Anon?” She says innocently.
  165.
  166. I take one look around the room, and I knew that wasn’t an option.
  167.
  168. “Eh, that’s probably a bad idea.”
  169.
  170. “Aw! Why not? You afraid of being alone with a girl in your room~?” She teases.
  171.
  172. Well yeah! Of course I would be scared. I’ve never had a girl even show this much interest. But I’m not going to say that.
  173.
  174. “Nah, it’s just kind of messy, and I’d probably get distracted.” I answer somewhat honestly.
  175.
  176. She pauses to take in my response, but she sighs as if she accepts my excuse.
  177.
  178. “If you say so, Anon. How about the library then? That shouldn’t be too distracting.”
  179.
  180. “The library is good. Let’s meet up there at 10:30,” I yawn involuntarily.
  181.
  182. I look over at the clock to see that it’s a little past 11.
  183.
  184. “Okay 10:30 it is! You sleepy, Anon? It is getting pretty late, huh? Make sure you go to bed soon” she says yawning as well.
  185.
  186. “Look who’s talking!” I playfully throwback at her.
  187.
  188. She laughs a little at my comeback.
  189.
  190. “It’s fine. If it’s you, I could stay up for another hour or so. I like talking with you, so it’s not a problem at all.”
  191.
  192. “Y-you’re too nice, Mor,” I say, not knowing how to respond.
  193.
  194. She giggles a little, but then yawns again.
  195.
  196. “Okay Anon. I’ll see you tomorrow then. Good night~!”
  197.
  198. “Yeah, good night Mor.”
  199.
  200. As I plop down into my mattress, I snap my phone shut and rest it on the table. I lay motionless on the bed trying to relax and fall asleep, but my heart is racing with Mor’s voice lingering in my head.
  201.
  202. Little did I know, I wouldn’t be able to sleep for a while.
