- anon's big gay vr dream
- So I had a dream last night that was seemingly pretty normal. I was in VRC, seeing through the eyes of my avatar. Everything was going good, we were exploring worlds, relaxing around campfires or wherever, having a good time. I didn't recognize anyone, but I felt like I was with friends. But periodically, I started to see this figure, kinda looked goofy at first, just like a funny Halloween prop of a raven's skull with some bones and black rags tied to a wooden rig behind it to make a humanoid figure. But when I pointed it out, everyone would look at me and go "Huh? I don't see anything haha." It would then go away, and the dream continued as normal. At first, it was just funny, but when it reappeared, it would be larger, more detailed, or more sinister. Progressively getting more.. presence, i guess, each time it was denied to be there. Eventually people's responses shifted. "Don't worry about that. You're not supposed to worry about it. Stop looking at it." "You're only making things worse, anon. You never had to see it. You just had to start asking questions." The worlds we were in got progressively more unsettling, dark, surreal worlds that were not nice at all. That figure would keep appearing, sometimes even standing in the groups even if for just a second. There's this loud ringing in my ears anytime it's near me. No one else would look at it, and through the little camera tool in game it wouldn't show up. I say I wish I had never seen it.
- And I'm back. I'm back to this comfy penthouse world, everyone is sitting down, snuggling, "oh ur avatar is so cute" etc, the usual. I sit down in this chair, and close my eyes. And the ringing comes back. When I open them, the room was all decayed, and everyone's avatar was replaced with their IRL body, with the headset and pucks, whatever on. Just sitting there, grinding on each other, dancing, a bunch of hairy, unwashed men just strapped into VR. It smelled like roadkill. And I saw the figure, looming over us through the skylight, and knew it was death. I felt sad, but not for the state the vr users were in. I'm no better than them for I indulge as well, but i think because i know that this will be the end for most of us. just wasting away, strapped to the headset and waiting to die, robbed of any meaningful experiences in life. i 100% believe if the world was different, each and every one of us could BE something, live a more exciting life. But we live in this post-capitalist world, with the world's best paid minds toiling to keep us trapped in this cycle of consumption. Making it so hard to just simply walk away.
- tl;dr i saw death in a dream and vr will be the end of us, but its not necessarily our fault.
