Title: An apology, the plan moving forward, and other updates

I’d like to apologize on behalf of the entire modteam for how the incident a few weeks ago was handled. We removed a post detailing allegations of an inappropriate relationship involving a minor and a developer in our community. We removed the post in an effort to prevent brigading and witch hunting, however, we should have simply locked the thread and let it be. The goal was not censorship or to hide this incident, The way this was handled was not acceptable, a mistake in our judgement. After all, we are all human. In the future, should another incident like this arise (which is doubtfully not the case) we plan to do these things:

* Lock threads from the beginning to prevent any witch hunting and brigading

* Threads will not be deleted unless we are asked to remove it by either Reddit admins or any law enforcement agency.

In order to avoid slamming the subreddit with meta announcement posts, I’ll use this thread to formally and regretfully announce that u/Seamus9999 has left the team due to personal reasons. We have no plans to open moderator applications, but this may change eventually.

Lastly, we’d like to announce the removal of dequo from the modteam due to a difference of opinion between him and the community.
