- After defeating Misty, went over to the Pokemon Center to get my team back. I decided to take Abra with me, to see how strong it was,
- but sadly, the only move it knew how to use was Teleport, so I went to train Abra a bit and see if it would learn a new move or at
- least evolve. When my Abra reached level 16, it evolved into a Kadabra and learned the move Confusion! It looks very powerful. While
- training Kadabra, it evolved into an Alakazam. It evolved way too quickly, but I just thought it happened because my Kadabra wanted
- to be very strong for me. After that, I decided to level up the rest of my team a bit as well. In the process, Rattata evolved into a
- Raticate and my Spearow evolved into a Fearow! After training, I went back to the Pokemon Center to heal my team. When I left the
- Pokemon Center, I heard a bit of a commotion, so I went to check it out. There was a policeman investigation around a house, so I
- approached him to see if I could help. The policeman said the people that live on the house were robbed by Team Rocket, so I decided
- to head inside the house. The people inside told me that a Team Rocket member stole a TM that teaches Pokemon how to use the move Dig.
- There was a big hole in the wall so I presumed the Team Rocket member who stole the TM exit through there. I went out of the house
- through the hole and there was someone dressed in black doing something strange on the ground. It was a Team Rocket member! He said he
- was an innocent bystander, but I wasn't buying that. I challenged him to a battle and defeated both of his Pokemon easily. After the
- battle, he gave me the TM to teach Pokemon how to Dig. I went back into the house to return it, but they told me to they were going to
- teach Diglett how to dig without the use of the TM, so I kept it. As I put the TM with Dig on my bag, my S.S. Ticket fell off, so I
- remembered that I was heading to Vermilion City to check out the S.S. Anne ship. I checked Cerulean City and the only way to go south is blocked by a tree that looks like it can be cut down, but none of my Pokemon know the move Cut, so I can't get out of Cerulean City through there. I remembered the big hole in the robbed people's house, so I decided to head through there, and it seems like you can exit Cerulean City through there. It's ironic, if it wasn't for that Team Rocket Grunt that made that hole in the wall, I wouldn't be able to leave Cerulean City. I went south of Cerulean City and entered Route 5. There was some tall grass around the area, so I went in it and found a wild Mankey! I used my Butterfree's Sleep Powder to put it to sleep before catching it. After that, I tried going through the gate that leads to Saffron City, but the guard said the road is closed. When I left the gate, I saw a little house to my right, so I went to check it out. There was a sign that read "Underground Path: Cerulean City - Vermilion City". Since this tunnel will lead me to Vermilion City, I might as well go right now. Inside the tunnel, I found a few items on the ground, which is quite handy. When I exit the tunnel, it looks like I was already on Route 6, which is just outside Vermilion City! Once again, I checked out the tall grass in search of a new Pokemon, but there didn't seem to be any new Pokemon in there for some reason, so I fought all the trainers on the route and went over to Vermilion City. I went to explore the city and there was a guy in a house next to the Pokemon Center who said he was the Fishing Guru, and he gave me an Old Rod so I could fish for Pokemon. That's great! Now I can fish on Route 6 to get a new Pokemon! I started fishing and I reeled in the Pokemon Magikarp, a Water-Type Pokemon. I used my Butterfree's Sleep Powder again to make it easier to catch. The Pokedex said that in the past, all the Magikarp used to be stronger than the weak ones found today. For some reason, I didn't believe the Pokedex at all. There's no such thing as an weak or useless Pokemon. I went back to Vermilion City to explore some more and see if I could see the S.S. Anne anywhere. I found the Pokemon Fan Club building, so I went inside because as a trainer, I'm also a big fan of Pokemon. The chairman of the Pokemon Fan Club and I talked for a few minutes about our favorite Pokemon, and after we finished talking, he gave me a Bike Voucher, which I could hand in at the Cerulean City Bike Shop to get a free bike! I thanked the chairman for the voucher and ran over to Cerulean City in order to get my bike! Once I got to the Bike Shop, the clerk didn't even give it a second thought and let me take a bike! I went outside to test out my new bike and it works great! I used it to get back to Vermilion City as fast as possible, after all, I had to make it in time to get in the S.S. Anne. When I got back, I couldn't see any ship anywhere, so I decided to go east into Route 11 and see if I could get more Pokemon. I ran into a wild Drowzee, so I used my Butterfree again to put it to sleep before catching it. It wasn't that hard to catch, since it was asleep. On the way back, I noticed a big cave with a sign that read "Diglett's Cave". Diglett was that Pokemon that the people who got robbed mentioned to be able to dig holes. I wanted one of those, so I went into the cave to get one. Inside, an old man told me that Diglett was the one that dug the tunnel, and the tunnel leads to Viridian City. That's a handy shortcut I should remember. I went down a ladder that was next to the old man, and I ran into a Diglett on the tunnel! Butterfree's so handy for catching new Pokemon, it just put it to sleep, so I got it. I left the tunnel to go back to Vermilion City, and there was a big ship on the dock! That had to be the S.S. Anne! I went to the Pokemon Center to heal my Pokemon and then I went to the dock. A sailor there flashed my ticket and let me go in. The ship is so big, I got lost several times and kept going into people's rooms, so they would get mad at me and challenge me to a battle. I beat every trainer on the ship, or so I thought. I went to see the ship's captain to see if he would teach my Pokemon how to use Cut, because one of the passengers on the ship told me the captain is a Cut master. On the way to the captain's room, I ran into Blue again. He asked me about how my Pokedex was coming along, and told me he had caught 40 different kinds of Pokemon. As always, he challenged me to a battle. So, here goes!

- He started the battle with his Pidgeotto again, but this time, I had my Butterfree on the front. I switched out my Butterfree because
- Bug-Type Pokemon are weak against Flying-Type Pokemon and sent out my Geodude again. Just like in the last battle, Gust didn't do much
- damage to my Geodude at all, while my Geodude was able to take it down in one hit with Rock Throw this time. Blue sent out Raticate
- next, so I kept in Geodude and used Rock Throw a few more times until Raticate was down as well. Now, he sent out his Kadabra. I know
- how strong that Pokemon can be, so I switched Geodude out for Alakazam. After a few hits from Confusion, his Kadabra went down. Last,
- he sent out a Charmeleon, the evolved form of Charmander. Although it was definitely stronger than a Charmander, it still couldn't even take a single Confusion attack from my Alakazam, it went down in 1 hit! Blue said I should visit the captain ahead before leaving, so I did. When I went into his room, he was in really bad shape. He was vomiting on a trash can be cause he felt seasick. I rubbed the captain's back to try to get him to feel better, and it worked! The captain gave me his thanks in the form of HM01, it teaches Cut to a Pokemon. The captain said the ship was about to leave Vermilion City to I had to get off the ship as soon as possible, or else I wouldn't be able to get out. As soon as I hopped off the ship, the S.S. Anne left the dock. When I left the dock, I noticed there was a Pokemon Gym in Vermilion City, so I checked out the sign and it read "Vermilion City Pokemon Gym Leader: Lt. Surge, The Lightning American!" Hmm. The Lightning American, huh? It seems like Lt. Surge is a user of Electric-Type Pokemon. Apparently, Electric-Type Pokemon's only weakness is the Ground-Type. I remembered I had caught a Diglett in Diglett's Cave, so I took it with me and trained it a little before heading into the Gym. I went back to Route 6 to fight all the trainers there, so I could level up my Diglett, and everything went just fine. When I was going back to the Gym, I took Beedrill with me so I could Cut the tree that was blocking the entrance to the Gym. I went in with only my Diglett, my Geodude and my Beedrill, to avoid any other Pokemon getting hurt in this Gym. I defeated all the trainers and managed to find both switches in the trash cans, which took me a long time to figure out... Now, only one trainer left. Lt. Surge said I wouldn't last long in a battle against his Pokemon, which really offended me. He kept taunting me, saying he'll use his Pokemon would paralyze me before defeating me... That's it! This battle is mine!

- He started the battle with his Voltorb, and I sent out my Diglett. Voltorb, being a pure Electric-Type Pokemon shouldn't be able to
- touch Diglett. so I had Diglett use Dig and Voltorb was sent flying from the hit! Needless to say, Voltorb wasn't able to go on, so
- Lt. Surge sent out his Pikachu, another Electric-Type Pokemon... Let's see it handle my Diglett! I had Diglett use Dig again but Pikachu hit it with Quick Attack before it went underground. Still, this Pikachu shouldn't be able to survive a Dig attack. Diglett's Dig attack devastated Pikachu, as it couldn't take the hit at all. That was a breeze. It seems every Gym Leader only carries 2 Pokemon with them, so I thought the battle was over... until Lt. Surge pulled out one last Poke Ball and sent out his Raichu, the evolved form of Pikachu. That thing was huge, compared to a Pikachu and it looked really strong, so I switched out my Diglett and sent out my Geodude. Raichu used Thunder Wave, but it didn't affect my Geodude at all, because of its Ground typing. Raichu kept trying to paralyze my Geodude with Thunderbolt, but it was no use, Geodude finished it off with Rock Throw. I was so mad, even though I won. This guy was just as rude as Blue and he didn't even put up a proper fight! After he called back his defeated Raichu into his Poke Ball, he accepted defeat and handed me the Thunder Badge. After that, he told me I was special and that he saw a lot of potential in me. That made me feel less angry at him, I guess he was just trying to heat me up for the battle. But, right now, Lt. Surge was just another step for me climb in order to reach the Pokemon League.
