CC6 FAQ

FAQ, UPDATES, AND OTHER STUFF I FORGOT TO MENTION:

Your level no longer has to be under 30,000 objects per minute! Your object limit is unlimited, but instead, all levels that use under 60,000 objects per minute will get 1 bonus point, all levels under 50,000 will get 2, under 40,000 get 3, 30,000 4, and all levels under 20,000 objects get 5 bonus points.

An update on the AI thing: I've decided it's ok if you use tools like vocaloid or track separators for sampling. I'm mostly against you using AI to compose your song for you. If it's used help create certain instruments or samples, that you then compose the song yourself with those, then I'm not really against that.

Some people have been making songs for CC6 for anyone entering the contest to use. I've decided to allow this as long as the songs still follow the contest rules. Also only use songs you've gotten permission to use.

Q: Do SFX triggers count towards my object count?
A: I won't count sfx triggers.

Q: Can I submit multiple entries?
A: Yes, but only the 1 best entry per creator (as in who uploaded the level) will be considered for the results. If someone did like 90% of the work and uploaded it on someone else’s account then that might count as the same creator too.

Q: Can I use a song/songs I made before the contest start date?
A: Yes, as long as the song(s) is/are published after the start date.

Q: How do I use my own song?
A: f you aren't whitelisted on newgrounds, then you can download Geode and the mod "Jukebox" on either pc or mobile to replace any song on newgrounds with your song.
Or if on PC, you can go into GD's appdata folder and manually replace the .mp3 file.

Q: How do I get whitelisted on Newgrounds?
A: You'll need to contact a GD elder mod and ask them to whitelist you. Here is a list of all elder mods.  https://geometrydashmoderators.jimdofree.com/home/gd-moderators-list/
Whatever you do, DON'T abuse being whitelisted and reupload songs that are not yours. Avoiding people doing this is why whitelisting even exists in the first place.

Q: What can I use to make music?
A: There's a lot of software you can use. Maybe try looking up "best free DAWs" (digital audio workstations). I use Ableton Live, but Fruity Loops Studio is also pretty standard. They both cost money tho. I used to use this very old, free/open source program called SchizmTracker. I made some fairly good songs just using that and Audacity for mastering (such as this song) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yhZKru5oOY
I also tried out LMMS (a free DAW) for a while and it was aight.

Q: Was your announcement video inspired by The Ten Rules of Techno?
A: No actually. I haven't seen this video before but it is very cool and I can see how you'd think that. I was actually inspired by Synthet. They make a lot of videos and shorts of this nature.
