Tash: Now I've known a few men who turn into right wildebeests when the disco stops, but furries are people who generally believe they're animals trapped in a human body. With us tonight is Chik'Ki. Hello, thanks for coming along. Now you're convinced you are a tiger, are you? So why do you think you are a tiger?

Ki: Well for most of my adult life, I felt there was something about me that didn't quite fit with the life that I was living. Something which didn't come to light until about four years ago, when I was in the Sumatran Jungle, and I felt more at home there than I felt anywhere else in my life.

Tash: So did you start to feel tiger-ish?

Ki: Well I started to look for some sort of link as to why I might feel at home, and over the months it all came together. And one day, it just occurred to me that, maybe, I was a tiger in a former life and something just clicked and felt right.

Lisa: Yeah, and not only did you believe that you're a tiger in a former life, but you also married a wolf?

Ki: Yes, that's right, my wife Louvé.

Lisa: We have a photo of your wedding. *Photos displayed on large screen behind them* So when did you get married?

Ki: Just over two months ago, it was actually in Philledelphia.

Tash: And is it cool for tigers and wolves to make little wigers?

Ki: Well *chuckles* we're human in form, so it's perfectly compatible.

Lisa: What if you have children, what do you tell them?

Ki: Um, well we will make them aware of our beliefs, but at the end of the day we will leave it up to them when they are mature enough to make their own decisions.

Tash: So how does it affect your day to day life? 'Cause I see you wearing a tail there, crawled around your thigh.

Ki: The tail is sort of a symbol or a badge, it shows people I'm furry and I believe I'm a tiger.

Tash: Does it get shut in the door and things?

Ki: *laughs* I've had a few accidents, yes...

Tash: Have you? Do you turn very angry when it gets shut in the door or you...?

Ki: No, I can be quite patient about it.

Tash: Really? You're a patient tiger.

Lisa: Do you like Frosties? *Ki smiles* Sorry, that was a flippant comment.

Ki: Yes, I do. *chuckles*

Lisa: You do! There you go, you must be  a tiger. But recently, you came out to your friends and family, what was their reaction.

Ki: Well *shrugs* mixed, but for the most part it was fairly positive to indifferent.

Tash: Were they almost unsurprised, because they thought you'd been quite tiger underneath all along?

Ki: I think they thought I was weird.

Tash: They were almost relieved that you let it out. I mean, often, people know before you realise yourself. They might be thinking he's quite a tiger for quite a long time before it took you to say it.

Lisa: And how common are furries? 'Cause furries is a word for someone who thinks there were an animal in a previous life.

Ki: It also applies to people who just dress up as animals, or they enjoy animal sci-I mean artwork.

Lisa: Are there quite a lot of people who like dressing up as animals?

Ki: There are quite a few out there, I mean furries in total.

Tash: *Unintelligible towards Lisa*

Lisa: Yes, shush, you weren't supposed to bring that up.

Tash: You also use hand puppets don't you as a form of expression.

Ki: Well yes, it is sometimes just fun to play with hand puppets, but some use hand puppets as an extension of themselves.

Lisa: This is...? *strokes large tiger hand puppet on table in between them*

Ki: Oh, this is Eric.

*Eric proceeds to demonstrate the hand puppet*

Tash: Does your wife ever get jealous of Eric?

Ki: No, I don't think so.

Tash: You're a soft tiger, aren't you? *Eric nods* Oh, does Eric not talk?

Ki: No, Eric prefers not to talk.

Tash: Can I hear him roar?

Ki: Eric is a rather quiet tiger.

Lisa: How do you feel when you see tigers in zoos, does that kind of hurt you? Do you feel sorry for your fellow tigers?

Ki: I think they would be better off in the wild, but at the same time I've been to zoos where they are very well looked after/ Tigers which have been born in captivity which can't make it in the wild, been kept very well looked after in the zoos that keep them.

Lisa: When you look into them, and look into their eyes, do you think they recognise you as another tiger? Do you think there is some kind of bond or connection between you?

Ki: I've had some experiences like that with some tigers, as well as other cats.
