  1. Marifa is Not Good At Being People. She's /read/ about trolls, she's pieced together most of the important stuff, but she's had incredibly few actual interactions with trolls and it shows. Being able to interact with people makes her incredibly happy, assuaging a lifetime of loneliness; as such, it's much more important to her than it is to most trolls.
  2.
  3. She's incredibly direct. She'll approach people unannounced, and ask them inappropriate questions, because she just doesn't /know/ what the appropriate reaction is. She's honest about her emotions and her thoughts to a fault, too, because she's never had to screen them. When she's off-kilter, she gets even /more/ direct, rarely sparing any detail in a way which often just makes things worse.
  4.
  5. Her cloak is basically a security blanket; she brought it with her from the ruins, and it's been repaired, but she doesn't want to leave it behind.
  6.
  7. AND ALSO, HISTORY:
  8.
  9. Marifa grew up amongst a long-ruined library; she spent her early years unearthing books and learning about the world from them. She had to -- her library, built on a dormant volcano in the middle of the desert, didn't have anyone but the endless undead of daylight nearby. She learned everything from the remains of that library; how to read, and how to interact with the world. From the few zombies who managed to climb up into her home, she learned how to fight. Her ancestor wrote a diary, and from that, she was able to tell why the library she lived in was ruined -- and that she technically shouldn't exist.
  10.
  11. For a long time, she thought that she was the only troll left in the world, though she knew that logically it wasn't true. She wanted to carry on her ancestor's legacy, but more than that -- she wanted to meet people, other trolls. When one unfortunate managed to struggle through the desert, she rescued him from the rising sun, revitalised him with her meagre resources, and asked him to bring others to her home. She'd teach them, she said. She still had a lot of knowledge to share. She didn't care about their blood!
  12.
  13. And eventually, others came, for the challenge of it if not for the message. She didn't want them to leave, sometimes trapping them there for weeks, but she taught them as promised, and she learned about the outside world from them. Of course, they would always inevitably escape...
  14.
  15. ... and one day, she trapped someone too important. A blueblood sent to investigate these claims of /egalitarianism/, who overpowered her and brought her into custody. As a rogue jadeblood, she wasn't immediately murdered -- but that didn't mean she was spared. Instead, she ended up in the custody of Medusa Denasu, because her rare blood could serve excellently in experiments.
