The gold-clad knight rubbed his face. "Okay. So wait. You dyed your hair and you're doing this why again?"

"To make Camelot last forever!" exclaimed the dark sorceress, her arms wide.

"But... doing that means it's not Camelot in anything but name," he pointed out, trying to remain reasonable. "I mean, you literally destroyed the castle itself already, and if you succeed it's going to be full of zombies. That's like saying Constantinople is Rome. Rome was Rome, but Constantinople is a Byzantine nightmare in more than one way."

"Oh, what do you know," she grumbled dismissively, throwing dark magic in his direction. "Camelot will be eternal! And no one, especially not you, are going to stop me!"

Caliburn sundered; he looked down at it nonplussed, then back up at her. "Well, actually, I kind of AM. But before I spank you like the spoiled child you are, I just need to tell you that your grandfather would be very disappointed in you."

The following ten minutes of spanking, following the transformation sequence and Caliburn's shards becoming a part of the reforged Excalibur, was proper and well-deserved by the aforementioned spoiled child.

The Knights of the Round Table, in the aftermath, were rather dismissive and said they could have done the same if they had wanted to bother, because obviously they were more worthy of the title than this pretender to the throne, despite that he had soundly thrashed them and spared their lives in gracious victory.

The gold-clad knight cocked his head to the side, and then a wide grin crossed his face. "Gee, that's funny, I thought I was supposed to be Arthur, but you all decided I'm Mordred. CHALLENGE FUCKING ACCEPTED."

In the years to come after the fact, he reflected that it was quite immature to slaughter every single knight in single kombat as he subjugated their kingdom and annexed it on Outworld's behalf, but that quite frankly it deserved it by this point.
