Backstory For Scout

Steven Ruckers was an old out of luck private investigator who's daughter had died only a year prior due to a murder by a criminal he put away. who was investigating the disappearances around town as well as rumors about men with hand-puppets kidnapping people and found his way to an old abandoned TV studio that was once home to Mortimer's Handymen. During his investigations he found Mortimer and was tricked by him into becoming the victim of a voodoo ritual which knocked him out and attached a living puppet to his hand bound to his soul. However the ritual was incomplete and he was fully aware of his surroundings while Scout was attached to his arm. Together they faced many trials and he began to see scout as a surrogate daughter as they survived and fled Mortimer's goons. However, at the end after they had defeated Mortimer, it seemed scout was destined to die, however as he began to see Scout as his daughter he instead somehow abused their link to sacrifice himself and give Scout he own full-fledged soul so instead of her dying, she lived on and remained attached to his now soulless husk with complete control over him which is where we pick up.
