  1. List of the Problems with Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Pokémon Let's Go Eevee Vol. 1:
  2. Value and Cost:
  3. --LGPE are the first """Mainline""" Games to be on console, and as such, cost 60 USD, where as on a handheld, it was set to 40 USD at launch
  4. --The 2 games LGPE is related to are Pokemon Yellow, which is available on the Eshop for about 10 USD, and Pokemon GO, which is a free app for multiple different Smart Phone platforms
  5. --Despite being based on both, LGPE only adds a tiny bit (removing the Safari Zone, but adding (to Yellow) Co-op, Online, some new mechanics, adding more following Pokemon, and Mega Evolution), and having a netloss as a GO sequel (Adding Megas spliting the Attack and Defense, but removing several thousand Gyms, regulating most of the Map to one region instead of the whole world, removing most of the Pokemon, having the camera, and more)
  6. --LGPE lets you buy the Pokeball Plus, which is a glorified Joycon controller, which every Nintendo Switch comes with and costs 10 USD less than the Left and Right Joycons together, while having far less functionality than the standard Joycons
  7. --Aside from the use of motion controlls to select moves in battles and to catch Pokemon, the Pokeball Plus can transfer some Pokemon from Pokemon GO and have a Pokemon stored inside. Both features previously either being bundled with another (and better) remake, or were entirely a free app
  8. --The only 2 possible ways to obtain Mew legitimately are through this 50 USD glorified Pokewalker/Joycon, or through online trade (assuming someone will give you Mew, you can traded freely, and that Mew can be traded)
  9.
  10. Visuals (Graphics, Aesthetics/Scenery, Animations, and other):
  11. (Note that these games reuse so many assets and add so little, there should be no excuse for why the graphics are the way they are)
  12. -Graphics:
  13. --Aside from the resolution, the graphics are almost 1:1 to the 6th Generation of Pokemon, when this is a 7th Generation game on a more advanced system
  14. --From what we have seen so far, models for non-in-battle-Pokemon lack all 100% smooth, as in humans have their entire faces just be textures, windows on ships are just textured on, ect. Even actual Pokemon, like the Eevee shown on the trainer in LGE has its paws be flat textures.
  15. --Several clipping issues have been spotted within the trailers. Examples being the Nugget Bridge clipping into the mountain in the battle backgrounds, Mewtwo's second neck clipping into its shoulder, and some of the audience members not being parallel while sitting
  16. -Aesthetics/Scenery:
  17. --The entire map of LGPE is a near 1:1 recreation of Kanto from RGBY, GSC, FRLG, and HGSS, but in 3D
  18. --The only major changes from previous visits to Kanto are the gyms now having an audience, that you can barely see with the fixed camera angle
  19. --The entire artstyle is nearly identical to a literal knock-off game found on Smart Phones, only forgoing the cluttered HuD found in said game(s)
  20. --Backgrounds in battles are all "just the area you are in with nothing else to see", when 3D games prior (excluding XY/ORAS/SMUSUM) had interresting scenery like bodies of water, statues, unique cities, and spectators
  21. --Being a near 1:1 recreation of Kanto, all towns consist of 4 - 9 buildings, all buildings are facing South, all land is blocky (in the same way XY/ORAS are), and no cool monuments at all are present
  22. --LGPE constantly reuses assets all the time, with no change what so ever. Although the XY models for Pokemon are high quality, there is no changes to them, outside of removing the outlines
  23. --The fake Aerodactyl found on the musuem is literally just the Aerodactyl model in battles. It has no new pose what so ever and isn't retextured to resemble a skeleton (which would be understandable if it was the Chinese version and if the law applied to it)
  24. -Animation
  25. --All animations for Pokemon are all 95% identical to XY/ORAS animation with maybe 1 or 2 slight alterations
  26. --Many problems with the flying type animations are still present
  27. --As seen in the common Webm shown around, a Kabutops in Pokemon Statium will do gymnastics, using its hands, body, ect to just use Mega Kick, where as Pikachu in LGPE will just move on the Z-axis
  28. --In the trailer showing off Hyper Beam, Tauros suddenly jumps from its idle animation to its attack animation in different positions
  29. --BLASTOISE, A FLAGSHIP POKEMON, SHOOTS HYDRO PUMP FROM ITS FOREHEAD INSTEAD OF ITS CANNONS. Seriously, what the fuck. Why does a Flagship Pokemon shoot the move most associated with it out of its god damn forehead. Its not shooting out of its mouth either. If this wasn't a major red flag for you, there is no saving you.
  30. -Other visual:
  31. --The camera isn't top down, and heavily favors North. If you hadn't memorized the layout, you could easily get into an unwanted trainer battle while going South
  32. --The camera is still fixed to your character and can't be changed despite the switch having a standard 2 analog sticks on opposite sides of the controller and no known use of Hot Keys like the 3DS games did.
  33. --The excuse that "LGPE is meant for kids and parents will see its a safe game" falls flat do to the ESRB rating system (and other rating systems world wide) telling you the contents of the game, and other Switch games such as Super Mario Odessey, Puyo Puyo Tetris, ect., which although have a E10+ rating, still are safe for children while having far better visuals. The whole "Its for kids" and "its not for you" arguments were never good in the first place since it assumes Children's media (as well as more casual media) can't and shouldn't be good
  34. --Several Fan games actually look better in every category aside from 3D modeling (since they typically only use sprites).
  35. Content:
  36. --Despite previous remakes, LGPE does not keep all the Pokemon in the generation it was created in. Cutting more than 650 Pokemon, including their forms, which means those are cut too.
  37. --Despite one of the groups it panders to being Genwunners, it decides to keep the Mega Evolutions, which is very conflicting since most fans that have played past Gen 1 probably have Pokemon they like getting scrapped, and Genwunners hate all the new Pokemon/Forms
  38. --Despite other remakes, LGPE cuts out prominent features/mechanic of the Gen its in and previous gens, such as held items, abilities, the GTS, Wonder Trading, ect.
  39. --Despite previous remakes, the only 100% new feature they added was Co-op, which is completely unbalanced and only serves as a way to not make moves like Helping Hand Useless and to make an already easy game easier
  40. --You are unable to get 100% completion legitimately without someone in the world paying $50 due to the previously mentioned glorified Pokewalker/Joycon holding Mew behind a paywall
  41. --Despite being a Pokemon Yellow remake, the Safari Zone is cut like previously mentioned
  42. --Nearly everything, including the following Pokemon in 3D (being from the USUM files) comes from older games
  43. Gameplay:
  44. --The entire game is already shown to be even more handholding and easier than the 3DS titles, with every mechanic that made said games easier, all the levels of trainer used Pokemon being way lower, the Co-op just requiring you 2 Joycons packaged with the switch, and Gym requirements that usually force you to have an advantage against the Gym Leader in some form. Its so easy you are practically playing a movie.
  45. --Wild Encounters are limited to Legendary Pokemon now. Regular Pokemon can only be battled with trainer battles. When you encounter a regular Pokemon in the wild, you can't battle it, but instead using the Pokemon GO format for catching and you use the motion controls for it.
  46. --Musada himself stated that he picked this catching system since it was way easier to understand, and anyone who has played on both (or in some cases with the GameCube games) will agree. This solidifies the notion that these games are way too much of a brain dead cake walk
  47. --The only was to grid in traditional RPG fashion is to constantly catch Pokemon. Although this doesn't matter since the game is already so easy, anyone that wants to play competitive (for some reason) must catch thousands of Pokemon to grind their team up
  48. --Due to no held items, the only drawbacks to using Megas are when you want another Mega, when the Mega has a type change for when you want to avoid certain attacks, or when a base stat is lowered (which is rare among Kanto Megas). Mega Zam, Mega Gengar, Mega Slowbro, and Mega Mewtwo X/Y will dominate the entire competitive format
  49. --Also due to no held items, many Pokemon are much worse due to having signature items or items that are the sole reason they can function
  50. --The same thing applies to no abilities since many rely on their abilities too
  51. --Aside from the previously mentioned Co-op, all the gameplay is 100% old mechanics if they haven't been cut
  52. --You are unable to evolve your starter, despite one of them having their whole line be based around evolving, forcing you to trade/catch Pikachu/Eevee if you ever want a Raichu, Flareon, Vaporeon, or Jolteon
  53. Other general:
  54. --Blue/Green/Gary, universally considered to be one of, if not the best rival character for originally starting out as an overconfident and egotistical rival to a mature and compentent adult, is replaced by the literally who Trace that is the friendly rival, something that has plagued the series since Gen 3
  55. --Knowing modern GameFreak, LGPE is likely to have cutscenes every 5 minutes
  56. --Although not confirmed, the Game Corner will likely be cut due to anti-gambling legislation in Japan, and won't be replaced like how the Game Corner in ORAS wasn't replaced
  57. --LGPE doesn't even have the honor of being the first Nintendo Switch Pokemon Game as Pokken Tournament DX and Pokemon Quest (both of which have better visuals to boot) came out before LGPE
  58. --The success or failure of this game will more than likely influence future titles negatively, as if it succeeds, more games will be like it, and if it fails, like many Nintendo games, GameFreak will assume positive features are to blame instead of the Kanto Pandering and this entire list
  59. --From previous interviews, where GameFreak stated that they sometimes remove features to make every game unique, Co-op and Following Pokemon will likely get cut without ever being expanded apon inspite being good ideas exicuted poorly
