  18. I have to admit, being a freelance Inquisitor is definitely not something I imagined myself doing up to this point. Do I believe in the gods? Well, sure, there are deities locally, but I don't worship them. Are there locals that do in fact worship them? Sure, they aren't doing any harm. However, when certain parties start introducing corruptive influences, twisting the gods' words to their own ends or trying to subvert one deity's religion to serve the purposes of another... that's a problem. You'd be amazed how often that happens, honestly. And the clerics and paladins wandering around find it difficult to figure out how an Inquisitor might be on their side when he doesn't worship their patron, yet he's still working as though he does.

  20. Of course, probably the reason that this happened more often than one might think is because there was a particular villain who was empowered strongly as a champion of his god, and who was trying to undermine other religions to attract them to his banner. Not so much intending to conquer the world so much as subvert worship. Kind of an interesting overarching plot. Wouldn't really have even been something that I would have opposed, if it wasn't for the fact that and all the worshippers were being corrupted and twisted into crimes against nature. (To be specific: getting two templates applied to them, no matter who or what they were: Unknown and Void Creature. Because of COURSE we need to add +6 to their CR.) Well. That, and the god in question was basically the void, gnawing at reality and hoping to destroy it.

  22. Not a fun time, but at least I avoided a repeat of the last jump's fate. Which is probably good, because I don't think the gods could have just rolled up a new world if this one fell.
