  1. Denverites seemed to like their new Major League Baseball team's cap and logo that were announced yesterday. It's the name Colorado Rockies they hate.

  6.
  7. Sentiment was the same at another Denver sports bar, Maxfield and Friends.
  8.
  9. Mike Dawson, who along with his brother Scott have priority number 300 for Rockies season tickets, thought Denver should have preceded any team name.
  10.
  11. "I think the team should be called the Denver Rockies," Mike Dawson said. "The team really belongs to Denver. It's Denver's team and we're going to have to put up with the ups and downs of the team."
  12.
  13. Yesterday, Major League Baseball officially announced that Denver and Miami will receive National League franchises to begin play in the spring of 1993.
  14.
  15. The Colorado Baseball Partnership also unveiled the team's logo and cap. The hat is black with the initials C and R colored in purple and outlined in silver. The logo bears the name Colorado Rockies and has a picture of the Rocky Mountains in purple with a baseball soaring toward the mountains.
  16.
  17. Scott Dawson said he didn't care what they called the team, as long as Denver was a part of the name.
  18.
  19. "I could go with anything, the Denver whatevers," Dawson said. "This isn't a regional team. Day in and day out, Denver will support the team."
  20.
  21. Some still yearned for the days of old, calling for the more traditional name Denver Bears.
  22.
  23. "I like the colors, but I don't like the name," said Greg Smith.
  24.
  25. "I'm a traditional guy and I like the name Denver Bears. But really, I'm just happy we got baseball, finally, in Denver."
  26.
  27. Another wanted to see the name Denver Bears, but for a different reason.
  28.
  29. "I like baseball, but I'm not crazy about Colorado Rockies," said Mike Auran of Denver.
  30.
  31. "I used to go to the Colorado Rockies hockey games and that name just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I'm a Denver Bears man."
