- What is the series race?
- The series race is an Annual race of every Pokémon game back to back. 2021 is the 4th year this event runs. Rules differ every year, but in essence it boils down to beat every game and catch every Pokémon at least once.
- What are the rules this year?
- !pkmnseries will give a more detailed list, but in general: 1 of each main game (including 1 of each remake) and a chosen set of sidegames (8 tiers, we choose which one in each tier). Every Pokémon needs to be obtained in any game, main or side, doesnt matter.
- How did you choose your sidegames?
- There's 2 things I tend to look for:
- 1. Are there Pokémon I want to get in this sidegame? (Ranger, Park and PSMD for example)
- 2. Do I like the game, own the game and am I somewhat competent at the game?
- Which games are the hardest?
- The games I'm looking up to doing the most are New Pokémon Snap and Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon. Both games I'm very inexperienced with and both have Pokémon I *have* to get there. I'm worried that both games are plausable to get stuck in for a while. Both are also early for that exact reason, I did not want to run the risk of getting completely stuck weeks into the run.
- Which Pokémon are the hardest?
- A few Pokémon that come to mind are Diancie, Genesect, one of the Kalos starter lines, Meloetta, Keldeo and Jirachi. The DMax Adventure legendaries could also potentially cause some issues. Lastly the Ultra Beasts are always tricky to get. Hopefully once we have all of these, we should be safe for everything else.
- What are the most fun parts of the race?
- One thing I'm really looking forward to is the Diglett quests. We have to get almost all Digletts for the Sun/Moon starters. The interesting routing options in Park, Typing adventure and many of the main series games are also adding an extra layer to the challenge this year compared to previous years.
- How long will this take? Can you take breaks?
- The race is expected to take about 2 weeks. We are allowed breaks depending on playtime. It basically boils down to a 5h break every 6h of played time (which can stack, so 10h for 12h played) and 1 24h break for every 72h played. I'll be using a little more early on, which is fine so long as the final count is correct with my played time
