Chap 1 Plan

The first thing that happened was Nagito sending a note to the de facto leader of the students on Jabberwock Island (where he and his class of students were being held captive) stating that a person would be murdered that night. This caused the leader to announce a party for that night with mandatory attendance. The place the party would be held in needed to be cleaned, so Nagito suggested drawing straws. Due to his luck, he ended up with the long one, and had to clean the building.

This, however, was part of his plan, as he wanted to prepare a weapon and a situation that would allow him to use it. The weapon was a knife, that he marked with glow-in-the-dark paint, so he could find it if the power were to suddenly go out. It was hidden under a table, so it wouldn't be seen by anyone beforehand. He also plugged three electric irons in a side storage room, and set air conditioners on a timer, to overload the power during the party.

Unfortunately, as he was preparing, the only other person in the building came in to check on him, and saw him placing the knife. Undeterred from his plan, he talked to that person, and challenged them to stop him if they could. That person then formulated a plot to kill Nagito, where the person who picked up the marked knife would be killed.

At the party, he took his place next to the table right as the power went out, but the person who called the party had prepared for that. They put on a pair of night-vision goggles, and pushed Nagito out of the way as he was going to pick up the knife. They then proceeded to pick up the knife, get killed, and cause the person who killed him to be executed.
