HOW I BECAME A WEEB:
I was watching the usual popular anime on german TV when I was little such as Pokemon, Digimon, One Piece, Naruto, Yu-Gi-Oh and so on. I never really stopped watching it, but over time I watched less and less.
UNTIL ONE FATEFUL DAY
I just turned 13 a few weeks ago, and I was on summer vacation in Thailand with my family. But the heat really got to me, so I asked my mom if I could stay in the hotel for a day.
I spent the entire day playing DS in bed until I got bored of it and turned on the TV. I clicked through all the foreign TV programs when I suddenly found something I knew. ONE PIECE - ON ANIMAX ASIA. It was in english dub, but my english back then wasn't good enough to fully understand it all so I mostly just sat there and looked at the pictures.
And then it happend. - Commercial Break.
"FOLLOW HAYATE AS HE CONQUERS THE HEARTS OF MULTIPLE GIRLS IN THE NEW SEASON OF HAYATE THE COMBAT BUTLER - WEDNESDAY 8PM ONLY ON ANIMAX!"
"Wait.. did he just say.."
"Conquer multiple girls?"
"conquer girls?"
"multiple?"
~cue 13yo pubescent brain going into meltdown~
I immediatly took a note on my phone to not forget the name of the anime, and kept watching Animax, hoping for more anime of this kind to show up.
They didn't. One Piece resumed. And I fell asleep.
When I woke up, Animax was still running and an episode of "Kaze no Stigma" was playing. The MC girl was fighting evil guys and I thought to myself "Oh, that's kinda like One Piece, looks interesting." and kept watching.
And then - cue the moment that changed my entire life.
The girl defeated the enemies, but she got knocked away by an explosion. And when the camera went back to her.. her skirt was ripped. AND - YOU - COULD - SEE - HER - PANTSU!!!
~cue 13yo pubescent brain going into overdrive~
"THAT'S ANIME?!?"
"HOLY SHIT THAT WAS HOT!!!"
"WHAT WAS THAT!?!?!"
The rest of the vacation I couldn't think about anything else than those images I have seen, and even right now, I still have those images engraved into my brain.
The first thing I did when getting home from Thailand was, go to my PC, and search for Hayate no Gotoku.
I marathoned the first 30 episodes in a single sitting and, not being aware of the fact that there are a lot more episodes, went on to search for new stuff right after that.
And that is how I became a Weeb.
TL;DR: Watched Animax Asia on Thailand trip. Saw Ecchi Anime for the first time. 13yo brain changed forever.
