- Hi all, I'm planning on doing a playthrough of all these. The order of the campaigns I'll do is the order they appear here. I'm starting with the warcraft campaigns, because there's no choices to be made regarding the playthroughs of them, at least afaik. IDK what difficulty I'll do the sc2 campaigns on, I'll probably play it by ear. I'll use strawpolls to decide which characters I play as in diablo 1-3, but I swear to god if you idiots make me play witch doctor or a paladin I'll be pissed.
- all blizzard campaigns casual playthroughs
- warcraft: orcs & humans

- review: I don't remember much about playing this game when I was younger, apart from the fact that greater summons were incredibly overpowered. Playing through this was a giant pain in the ass, mostly because the controls were so much different from what I was used to; mainly that right click doesn't do any "smart orders," it just centers the camera over where you click. "Smart orders" are like auto-move command from selected units, or auto attack units, or harvest resources. Boxing units has to be done with control-click, you can't just box with a simple mouse click-n-drag, makes life really hard. There aren't any control groups, so you have to manually select things at all times, and finally you can only control 4 units max at a time, so simple things like moving your army becomes super tedious, really quick.
- That's about it for the controls. The actual game was very enjoyable, with only a couple caveats. Because of the awful controls "installation missions" (missions where you don't have a base to command, just predeployed units) were exceptionally tedious. Turns out my old self was right, greater summons (daemons and water elementals) are super overpowered, making the last two missions of each campaign completely pointless. Catapults are also insane, and an unlucky shot on your units can kill a frustrating amount of units. Its really weird that you can't build more town halls, so you'll find yourself super long distance mining at almost every single mission.
- Overall, worth a watch of a playthrough, wouldn't necessarily recommend playing it yourself unless you really REALLY want to.

- review: This classic gem still makes me smile. Here is where the Blizzard dominance in the RTS scene really started in my opinion.
- First, the controls, to compare against WC1. Control groups! Boxing by click-n-drag without CTRL! Smart right-click! Holy shit this game is so much fun.
- This is pure RTS chaos at its finest. If you can micro + macro well at fastest game speed on BNE version of the game, you are an actual legend in my eyes. The Battle Net Edition significantly increases the speed of the game, so the AI gets a huge micro advantage in that they will smartcast spells faster than you, better than you, and target down your catapults faster than you can blink an eye. You really have to be on your toes the entire time, it doesn't let up one bit.
- As far as the AI goes in the campaign, its pretty brutal at times, attacks are relentless and come from different sides continually. It really tests your multitasking abilities. My one complaint about the AI is that its inconsistent. One mission you might get steamrolled by endless hordes of units, and the next, you'll steamroll them as they don't send a single wave after you.
- The levels are well designed, and look cool. The story is really just ok, but the mission briefings before each mission are much better done than Warcraft 1, and serve to give you better immersion and feel for the Warcraft universe.
- Overall, completely worth a playthrough if you enjoy RTS games at all. The controls feel tight and responsive, the quick speed of the game lends itself to adrenaline rushes and glory, and the flavor of the unit responses and voices are top notch.

- review: Expansion of the above, all holds the same except for a few things:
- The AI seems vastly improved, and the levels are way more brutal than the original. Get used to having way less gold + lumber than you're used to, and being more outnumbered and outgunned much more frequently. The AI starts with higher tech units way earlier, and throws them at you more frequently as well. The upside? You get more hero units to use, and if you can use them well, they really can turn the tide quickly.
- Overall this expansion is one of the hardest RTS campaigns I can remember doing, but it still feels rewarding when its difficult. The only time it doesn't feel worth it is when the AI bugs out a bit and makes a level too easy.
- Oh, and the main Warcraft story really starts to pick up here, with plenty of heroes to choose and play from. Worthwhile to take a look at if you want to see early incarnations of your favorite characters.

- review: What a change from the previous game. From the lightning fast gameplay and reflexes to a lumbering sleeping game designed to individually care about each and every one of your units instead of a constant stream of death like WC2.
- Shift-queueing is smarter, allows you to manage macro much more efficiently, and production has queues now as well. 12 units max in a control group.
- The story is top notch, its actually really interesting the whole way through, and motivations are clearly explained each and every time.
