- Name: Cassie Scott
- Age: 17
- Appearance: Cassie is a young, black woman. She stands at about 5'8", has an above average frame, and is covered in enough freckles to illustrate a connect the dots book. She wears her hair in a well-groomed afro, and has a smile that could light up a room. She hasn't been able to walk by herself since she went blind, so she is almost always linking arms with someone to get where she's going.
- Power: Empathetic Domination
- The Oracle can lock in on the emotions of other human beings, and trigger responses in individuals contrary to what they're feeling. She can cause a troubled woman to laugh uncontrollably and heartily. She can turn a man's fury into a gentle brush stroke. She can turn a killer's gun into an avenger's tool. Since she went blind, the power has been both easier and more difficult to control. Emotions are significantly easier to hone in on, but the effects are usually far from desired.
- Cape Name: The Oracle
- Costume: The Oracle has no costume yet. She is bedridden in the Blood Angel's hospital, and will stay there until the bullet is removed from her skull.
- Backstory:
- Classes were going on normally. Things had finally calmed down in the city, and a sense of normalcy was in the air. Cassie was nearly top of her class, not particularly outgoing, and doing quite well for herself considering the recent death of her father. High school had never been easier for the teenager, and it wouldn't ever be this easy again.
- That January, as the school had just returned from winter vacation, a terrorist attack struck Cassie's high school. It all happened so fast, she hardly knew what was happening. Gas grenades littered the hallways, and students were immediately thrown into a dazed panic. Cassie was one of the last people out of her classroom, wheezing and trying desperately to find anyone to clutch onto and reach safety.
- Safety was the last thing she'd find. She was yanked by the hair down the hallway by one of the attackers. He wore an old timey gas mask and carried a rifle as long as Cassie's whole arm. She was hoisted into the cafeteria, with a couple dozen other students and half as many terrorists. The gas still filled the room and choked out any thoughts the teenagers could have had.
- While they sat in confusion and chaos, a figure entered the room. He wore a simple suit, thick glasses, and carried a tank of oxygen. He strolled along the students and introduced himself as "The Arbiter." He said that he would touch each student's forehead, one at a time, and figure out who among them had "the gift." The first few students he touched had no effect, and he merely batted them to the side and continued down the line. But once he reached Blake, a senior Cassie recognized from calculus, his whole chest swelled with some kind of blinding light. It was like a spotlight was shining out from within him, filling his veins and making his eyes glow like some kind of magic.
- And then Blake was shot in the head. The Arbiter merely shook it off like he touched something wet, and continued down the line.
- "This is for your own good. In the end you would only die a much more gruesome death than this. I am sparing you and your families the heartbreak of watching their children try and fight a war they don't understand."
- He continued down the line, until he burst with that same light and shot Victoria. And again continued until he shot Patrick. And then Drew. And then Lee. He was within arm's reach of Cassie now, and she could feel her heart stop in her chest.
- Every footstep he took was like thunder, wracking her whole body. She was going to throw up.
- As his hand slowly reached forward, thumb about to graze her forehead, she couldn't restrain the tears any longer.
- His thumb touched her forehead and she could see that pulse of light flare up like a bomb, ready to extinguish her and everything she knew. It was like slow motion, watching the man behind the Arbiter lift his rifle, and she saw his lips perk into a smile as the barrel of the gun, still smoking, sat pointed straight at Cassie's eye.
- And then he lifted his gun up and shot the man behind Cassie, his eyes now glazed over.
- He turned towards the Arbiter, and was only seconds from shooting when he instead was shot.
- The men panicked, and Cassie did too. Another one glazed over, and shot two more. It was a full on firefight now, bullets whizzing through the air as people scrambled in every direction.
- Cassie nearly made it to the door outside when a bullet pierced the back of her skull and everything went black. By the time she woke up, she was in the Blood Angel's clinic, completely blind. She could feel the sharp metal piece in the back of her head, and the doctor told her that she would likely never see again. It would take time and delicate procedures to remove the bullet from her skull, but she was alive. She could still hold this woman's hand, and felt the warm energy radiate off of her.
- She was safe.
