  1. Everything had to be perfect, perfect for this day. Bob was never very good at baking- well, other than the rotten stuff LeChuck ate- but he sure tried. He didn't really know what to do, didn't have anyone to ask . . . at least he found a cookbook. He also didn't know what kind of cake to pick, so he went with the simplest chocolate cake there was.
  2.
  3. Let's hope it works out.
  4.
  5. Bob knew Guybrush would be back soon, they were staying in an inn. Bob himself wasn't able to go out very much due to being a ghost, he'd scare everyone (and he didn't like Guybrush's idea of a disguise). So he kept to himself and his . . . companion? Best friend? Or- or maybe b-boyfriend? Nothing ever had a verbal confirmation, so Bob was clueless as to what Guybrush really thought of him. They'd only stayed together about a month anyways, after the defeat of LeChuck, what would he find out in such a short time?
  6.
  7. Bob placed the final candle on the cake, making 19 in total. He'd light them when the other actually got here. Though, it was taking Guybrush awhile, so he ended up lost in thought. Why was he allowed to stay with him in the first place? Guybrush said it was because he had no place to go, said it'd be temporary . . . This would come to an end soon, wouldn't it?
  8.
  9. Bob let out a sigh and looked down at his bony hand. Being dead, he often felt cold. He still fondly remembered the times they'd held hands. Sure, it had only been twice, and out of convenience due to crowds, but his hand was so warm, so welcoming. He wanted to hold it again, hold him.
  10.
  11. "Wait- is that a bit much?" Bob thought aloud. "I don't- that's not- I just want to be n-near him!" Wow, awkward phrasing. Nothing wrong with wanting to cuddle in the first place.
  12.
  13. Then there was a knock at the inn room they were staying in. Bob panicked momentarily, looking around the cake and making sure everything was perfect. It looked a little sloppy, could he just- no, no, he's here! No time!
  14.
  15. The door opened. "Hey! Man, this lady was trying to sell something, and she-" He had turned to see the display. Bob was standing behind the table with an amazing chocolate cake. On it were sloppily yet cutely written words, "Happy 19th Birthday, Guybrush!"
  16.
  17. A silence passed as a large grin grew on Guybrush's face. He then asked, "Is this from that bakery down the street?"
  18.
  19. Oh geez, should he have gotten that instead? But how would he? "No, I, uh- I baked it myself."
  20.
  21. "Really? It looks great!" He was too hyped to notice how shitty it truly looked.
  22.
  23. As Bob went to light the candles, Guybrush went to stick a finger in the cake. That's weird, but it's his birthday, so . . . he got to sample the frosting. Then finally, all 19 candles were lit.
  24.
  25. "Make a wish!"
  26.
  27. "Aren't you going to sing?"
  28.
  29. Nope, that's not gonna happen. Bob said, "Oh, uh, my voice is very good . . . " He let out a shy chuckle.
  30.
  31. "C'mon, it's a couple of lines!" Guybrush' voice turned to a mixture of smug and sly. "It is my birthday."
  32.
  33. Bob sighed. "Oh, alright."
  34.
  35. Bob sang the lines for the happy birthday song, but his voice was too shaky from nerves. Guybrush clapped when he was done, then blew out all his candles. Soon the cake had been sliced and Guybrush had finished his piece, though Bob was unable to eat any with his lack of a jaw.
  36.
  37. Then, Guybrush asked, "So, what did you get me?"
  38.
  39. "Huh?" Bob was genuinely confused, before it hit him. He was so busy with the cake he forgot to get a present. "Oh, oh my god, I'm so sorry I-"
  40.
  41. "Oh, it's alright, don't sweat it." There was a hint of disappointment in his tone, which stung deep and made Bob feel even more guilty.
  42.
  43. Desperate, Bob said, "Is there anything you want? I can- I can get you anything!"
  44.
  45. "But you can't go most places, right? Everyone would freak out."
  46.
  47. Great, just how useless was he? Maybe even a burden on him . . . He could barely do anything for Guybrush. His hollow eyes made its way to the floor, head sulking low as well.
  48.
  49. It took a moment, but Guybrush started to notice Bob was getting upset. He leaned in over the table to say, "Hey, it's alright, the cake was really good, anyways!" In reality, it was below average.
  50.
  51. "Sorry, Guybrush, I just-" He turned his head to look back, though with moving himself forward . . . they were rather close.
  52.
  53. His warmth. That's what Bob began to think about. He wanted more of it, more. Those thoughts caused him to blush a dark blue.
  54.
  55. Guybrush on the other hand, was lost staring in his eye holes. Almost immediately, he said, "I know what you can give me!" He wasn't good with feelings, especially not acting on them, but right now was different. By different, it was impulsive.
  56.
  57. With both hands grabbing the sides of Bob's head, Guybrush placed a kiss where his lips would be. Bob was shocked at first, but melted into it. It lingered on, neither knew what they were doing, neither had any experience. But of course it was still so so amazing to these first-timers.
  58.
  59. When they separated and Guybrush leaned back, all Bob could say was, "You're hot."
  60.
  61. Guybrush had an awkward laugh. "R-really now?"
  62.
  63. "W-wait, I meant temperature, though you are very attractive- You're warm and I like it!" So bad with words.
  64.
  65. A silence overcame them momentarily before Bob continued. "Wait, does this- does that mean you like me?"
  66.
  67. "What? Aren't we dating?" He seemed to be genuinely confused.
  68.
  69. Bob's whole skull became a dark blue. Is this real? Was he dreaming? Guybrush actually liked him back? But wait, they're already dating? "What about Elaine?"
  70.
  71. "She was okay with it, remember? It was so cool, both a girlfriend and a boyfriend!" His voice turned a bit nervous sounding. "Though, we have been through a rough patch lately, as you know . . . "
  72.
  73. He did mention her leaving suddenly without telling him, but the first part? "You- you did say she was okay with me staying with you, but not that we were dating!" Not that he didn't want to, in fact he did fantasize about it a bit. Nothing too frisky though, that's embarrassing!
  74.
  75. "Oh, whoops." Guybrush sounded awkward as always. "Well, uh, wanna? Do you want to date, I mean-"
  76.
  77. "Yes!" Bob interrupted. "Of course, I- I've thought about it so much! I just didn't know you felt the same."
  78.
  79. "Well, yeah, I wouldn't want to room all the time with just a buddy. That'd be weird eventually. It'd have to be someone I really, really want to spend time with!"
  80.
  81. Everything was happening so quickly, all at once things were coming together as how he'd dreamed of it! But how do you respond to what was just said?
  82.
  83. "Um," Bob began. "Would you maybe like to, uh, hold hands?"
  84.
  85. "Oh, uh, okay." He seemed a bit surprised.
  86.
  87. So, Guybrush walked around the small table and sat next to Bob, slowly taking his hand into his own.
  88.
  89. "You're warm."
  90.
  91. "You're freezing!"
  92.
  93. Guybrush laughed and Bob chuckled a little. At first there was a lot of silence, but soon conversation was brought up. It was mostly led by the 'mighty pirate.' Bob clung to his hand, never wanting to leave his company.
  94.
  95. "Even if things don't stay like this forever," Bob thought to himself. "I'll always remember the name, Guybrush Threepwood."
