  1. Since I still see people to this very day having issues with trying to get CM3D2 to work, I've decided to make this not-so-quick start guide that should work 100% for anyone and everyone that wants to play.

  3. Now as a big note: This is if you want to do a clean, proper install of the game, which is very slow process. If you'd much rather have a copy of the game that allows you start playing as fast as possible with most (if not all) of the available DLC, please view the guide in this link instead: hhttps://www.reddit.com/r/cm3d2/wiki/index

  9. 1. Change your system language locale (not your Region or System Location) to JAPANESE. (---THIS IS IMPORTANT---)

  11. Not setting your system locale to Japanese is usually the main culprit as to why users can have issues with not getting the game to work properly. Make sure that you have your locale set to Japanese before proceeding any further. (Yes, this includes setting your locale BEFORE you start downloading the game.) It should be very easy to set by simply checking your OS' Region & Language settings. (Control Panel -> Region -> Administrative -> Language for non-Unicode Programs)

  21. First off: Fuck AppLocale. Fuck NTLEA. Fuck any guide that tells you to use a Locale emulator for any reason ever. Second: Switching your OS locale to Japanese will allow your entire system to properly display and READ Japanese text, which is required since the game will need to read filenames and directories in Japanese. This will also allow you to properly extract files and mods with Japanese text as well, otherwise you'll end up extracting said mods with corrupted gibberish text.

Since you're most likely going to be using a Sybaris setup to get the game running, another reason you're going to need to change your locale is because using locale emulators will only work on the game's exe while ignoring hooked plugins, which will definitely invite errors and more problems..

  25. It may be a pain in the ass to have to switch between system locales just to play, but it must be done. Just be sure to set your other programs language to English specifically instead of "default" if you don't want certain programs you use on a regular basis to come up with JP text (most of your programs will still be set to your default language anyaway, though.)

  27. Some of you might read this and say: "Yeah, well I found a workaround and used NTLEA it works JUST FINE!"

  29. Well if you managed to NTLEA to work: Great. But chances are that you will run into problems with that workaround sooner or later. If you want a surefire way to make the game work, this -MUST- be done. Switch your damn system locale to Japanese.

  31. Also to note: Do -NOT- use HongFire's HF-Patch OR ReiPatcher for CM3D2. It's horribly outdated and will most likely screw up your installation even more.

  37. 2. Download the base game.   38. 3. Use an iso virtual drive like Daemon Tools or Windows 10's virtual drive option to mount the game.

  40. 4a. (Optional) - Run the game once to make sure that it's working. Check to see if you can create a new game file and a new maid without any issues.
  41. 5. Download CM3D2 patch v1.00 -> 1.12 from http://kisskiss.tv/cm3d2/update.php - Install it.
  42. 6. Download CM3D2 patch v1.12 -> 1.60 (or latest version, either 32 or 64-bit depending on your system/preference) from http://kisskiss.tv/cm3d2/update.php - Install it.
  43. 6a. (Optional) - Run the game again here to make sure that it's working.
  44. 7. Download and install official DLC patches or expansions (Recommended downloads: ACT2 + ACT3 Expansions) - https://mega.nz/#F!fpgFAbaS!9uUPXC-TeU7vJgMVh7YS2w (TIP: Use a download manager like Mega Downloader or jDownloader to bypass download limits)

  47. 10. Add all the extra mods/presets you want into their proper folders within the Sybaris folder. Mods go into Sybaris/GameData. Presets go into Sybaris/Preset. (Note: Some mods may require certain official DLC patches in order to work.)

  49. And that should be it. I may take awhile to get everything installed, patched and modded up, but if you followed everything to a T, your game should be running with little to no issues.
