  1. [19:05:15] <@castfromhp> It has been a long week at Pochinok. Even the meager selection of pickles available at Lisa's vegetable stand sounds like a feast to you compared to the gruel that you've been forced to subsist on for the past few days. A blizzard has been roaring through the town and surrounding environs. The railroad has stopped, crops are dying, and even the emergency shipments requested have not yet arrived.
  2. [19:05:27] * Batzorig is now known as Viktoriya
  3. [19:05:47] <@castfromhp> An atmosphere of quiet unrest has settled over the communal dining hall where you have all come to eat cold soup and bread for the 6th day in a row.
  4. [19:06:35] <@castfromhp> Murmurings amongst the other recruits speak of the officers putting together an initiative to go out and find the missing supply caravans. Why are they taking so long? They're prepared for this type of weather. Your gut sinks as you realize that there's no way the officers will do this on their own; they're gonna find grunts like you to do the dirty work!
  5. [19:07:16] <@castfromhp> (feel free to chat and meet and greet or just socialize until Masterly arrives)
  6. [19:08:23] <Anatoly> "At least we're not hungry..." Anatoly said in thanks, making do with eating bread and drinking soup to help the bread go down.
  7. [19:09:04] <Anatoly> He also allows his pokemon, Peredach to stay by his side.
  8. [19:11:05] <@castfromhp> The Klink scoffs at your need to eat! Silly biological organisms, requiring ingestion of organic compounds to maintain structural integrity and function.
  9. [19:12:50] * Anatoly did oil and clean his Klink, despite it scoffing his need for biological functions. Only the motherland knows what happens to klinks if this cold cause them to stop spinning their gears.
  10. [19:13:04] <Viktoriya> She sits down in an empty spot at the creaking wooden mess hall table, placing the soup in front of her and dipping the hard bread into it. As soon as there's some give in the stiff slice, she begins to consume heartily, without a word.
  11. [19:17:18] <Anatoly> Looking up from his meal, Anatoly wondered just how many of them will be needed, when the officers do decide to send them to find the missing supplies. They'll have to bundle up for the freezing weather outside, lacking heat that most factories offer in exchange of toil.
  12. [19:21:55] * Botherer is now known as Akilina
  13. [19:23:41] <@castfromhp> A large, heavy-set man approaches the tables near Viktoriya and Anatoly. The buttons on the front of his dark brown winter coat seem nearly strained to bursting. A scowl crosses the man's face as he sits down with only a bowl of soup. "I can't believe it!" His voice thunders. "All this 'Good comrade is make sacrifice for others. You have much fat, do not need bread.'" He grumbles, sipping soup.
  14. [19:28:53] <Viktoriya> She looks to the round man as the last bites of her bread disappear into her mouth. Chew, chew, swallow... Suddenly, she seems to remember something and glances about the room for a moment.
  15. [19:29:08] <Akilina> One of the women not too far behind that man follows after him to the table; she approaches slowly, aaand... What do we got? Those little miniloaf thingies? Saying nothing, she sets herself down, the rattling of a chain being the only noise coming from her as she breaks her bread in half. "They also say comrades should look out for one another, no?"
  16. [19:29:43] <Akilina> Her half of the bread makes its way onto his plate, with no further words, only a smile.
  17. [19:30:36] <@castfromhp> The man grins and takes the other half of bread, eating it greedily. He doesn't speak until every crumb is gone. "It is true! Though that did not work so well when I went to look for my friend myself..." He drinks a bit more of the soup.
  18. [19:30:53] <@castfromhp> (Bat, looking around for something in particular or just idle actions?)
  19. [19:31:37] <Viktoriya> (Idle action, I sorta know where I'm going with this...)
  20. [19:34:32] <Anatoly> "Maybe if you convince them that you had contributed a good deal, they might give you your share, comrade," Anatoly surmised as he looked up to the big-boned companion of theirs, "We will likely have the chance to prove ourselves soon."
  21. [19:34:34] <@castfromhp> "The name is Bogdan. Bogdan Melikov." The large man glances between the surrounding tables then offers his hand in greeting to Akilina. "Many new faces around here. I bet the capitalists are shaking in their boots now, eh?"
  22. [19:35:36] <@castfromhp> "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs." He nods at Anatoly.
  23. [19:37:39] * Akilina takes a quick slurp from a spoonful of her own soup before raising her own hand to meet Bogdan's. "Akilina. But please, call me Smiles! And they very well should be!"
  24. [19:37:51] <Anatoly> "Anatoly Shchito, those capitalists are sure to have trouble sleeping at night from here on," he introduced and replied as well. The camaraderie somehow helped keep him warm.
  25. [19:39:21] <@castfromhp> "And you?" Bogdan swivels toward Viktoriya, a bear-paw-sized hand extended.
  26. [19:43:10] <Viktoriya> She stopped her scanning of the room long enough to utter "Viktoriya Blazhenov..." She shook his hand with a strong, firm grip. "Excuse me." She rose from her seat just after completeing the handshake and strode over to a corner of the room to retrieve a filthy bucket of water that was starting to freeze over, even in the crowded messhall. She hauls it back to the table with little difficulty and sets it down on the
  27. [19:43:34] <@castfromhp> (your line cut off after "down on the")
  28. [19:43:55] <Viktoriya> on the ground beside the bench.
  29. [19:44:39] <@castfromhp> "A comrade with a plan, eh?" Bogdan remarks as she returns.
  30. [19:48:39] <Viktoriya> She nods affirmatively and reaches into her coat, removing a pokeball and popping it open. Her Carvanha manifest directly into the bucket, it's bottom fin and belly soaking in the water as much of it's bulk remains sitting on top.
  31. [19:49:30] <@castfromhp> "Oh ho! A bit chilly for it though, don't you think? Not a big deal for a strong Soviet-raised pokemon I suppose!"
  32. [19:50:32] <Anatoly> "It is indeed doing well to brave such a weather!"
  33. [19:51:31] <@castfromhp> It's at this moment the doors to the dining hall swing open, and several wooden carts are wheeled in, covered with cloth. The smell of savory roasted meats and vegetables wafts out over the room, with hints of garlic, rosemary and other herbs and spices you haven't tasted for at least a week.
  34. [19:52:33] <Viktoriya> "Lockjaw is tough. He won't mind the cold as long as he gets to eat-..." She looks up, surprised by the sudden arrival.
  35. [19:53:40] * Anatoly had thought that he has eaten his fill. How wrong he was as soon as the scent filled the room and reminded him of what they are missing. He does his best to keep his stomach's thoughts in check- a soldier of the motherland does not give in to weakness! :L
  36. [19:54:40] <@castfromhp> "Rejoice! Glorious motherland has graced us with a strong and hearty meal to help us through the difficult times!" A tall, lean man steps into the room, his voice smooth yet commanding. His jacket is highly decorated, and the soldiers around sit up at his approach. You vaguely recall him as Major Kresnik, and he was off in the background when you got off the train to Pochinok.
  37. [19:55:15] <@castfromhp> And with that, the soldiers pushing the carts pull off the clothes to reveal long kebab sticks covered in various meats and vegetables. They begin handing them out to everyone in the hall.
  38. [19:58:49] <Anatoly> Standing up to pay his respects to the major. He soon received his portion of what could be best described as a feast compared to what he has in weeks. Anatoly does look to the others, wondering if the supplies have finally arrived to warrant such a feast...
  39. [20:00:40] <@castfromhp> As expected, the rest of the dining hall is quickly filled with the sounds of many people eating ravenously. The Major just looks over the entire scene, grinning ear from ear.
  40. [20:00:59] <Viktoriya> She grins genuinely at seeing the food brought in by the Major. She looks down at Lockjaw, floating atop the bucket. "You stay. I'll get the food." She points to the bucket, clearly very serious as she gets up to retrieve her share.
  41. [20:01:45] <@castfromhp> Lockjaw snaps his jaws eagerly and lightly rams the side of the bucket in anticipation. You swear he's trying to bump it closer to the food.
  42. [20:02:32] <Anatoly> Seeing that everyone is enjoying their meal, Anatoly gave thanks to the motherland for such a blessing and proceeds to eat his portion.
  43. [20:03:22] <Akilina> Oh, hey, REAL food! "Many thanks to the Motherland, indeed," she lets out in response. Once food gets brought to her, she begins to eat, her attention divided equally between the Major and the chomp-happy fishy.
  44. [20:03:54] <Viktoriya> She points at the bucket again, eyes staying on him even as she steps through the crowd towards those handing out the food. It's surprisingly easy for her given her rather daunting height for a sinnovian woman.
  45. [20:04:24] <@castfromhp> The Major has stepped aside to whisper to a similarly-decorated officer standing nearby. The other man nods in response and waves toward the hall where more officers start streaming into the room, standing around the walls in a perimeter.
  46. [20:05:19] <@castfromhp> Viktoriya: The food is plentiful and it is indeed remarkably easy for you to get at the food, as your towering height causes even some of the men around to step aside.
  47. [20:05:56] * Gents (Gents@A960865F.3B790791.F77E3A26.IP) has joined #pochinokadventures
  48. [20:08:31] * Anatoly thought it odd that the officers are all watching them eat, but figured it is because they are concerned of their well-being. Anatoly did his best to savor this rare meal, figuring the strength he will recover from this can be put to good use later.
  49. [20:08:48] <Viktoriya> Food obtained, she returns to her seat with as much grub as she could get her hands on. She starts pulling chunks from the skewers with her fingers, tossing savory chunks of meat to Lockjaw as she dines herself.
  50. [20:10:05] <@castfromhp> The officers watch patiently, and after the last of the food has been taken, they start to shuffle in amongst the tables, nonchalantly looking over people's shoulders.
  51. [20:10:14] <@castfromhp> The lights turn off.
  52. [20:10:18] <@castfromhp> A set of blacklights turn on.
  53. [20:11:03] <@castfromhp> Akilina, Anatoly, Viktoriya, you all notice immediately a small fluorescent band at the base of your skewers, now visible in the blacklight. A nearby officer yells out. "These three!"
  54. [20:11:39] <@castfromhp> A set of lights turns on again, just above your heads, leaving the rest of the room enshrouded in darkness. A loud chorus of applause begins from the officers standing around the room.
  55. [20:12:22] <@castfromhp> The Major calls out in his silky smooth voice. "Here lie the comrades who will be our saviors! The will of the Motherland has called for them to brave the storm and return with news of our lost supply caravans!"
  56. [20:12:24] * Akilina takes note of the swarm of officers pouring in, but she totally takes the chance to snap a photo of Lockjaw hopping out of his bucket to get food. ... She doesn't get it thanks to the damned blacklights. She's waaaay confused, it seems, what the hell's going on.
  57. [20:13:15] <Akilina> Err, lights going out on her.
  58. [20:14:02] * Anatoly blinks. He is chosen for some reason due to the shiny thing that glowed at the base of his skewer. He slowly stands up and manages a smile, raising an arm to his comrades. He must not let them down now that he was chosen to seek out the lost supply caravans.
  59. [20:15:20] <@castfromhp> Bogdan joins in the clapping after a moment of confusion.
  60. [20:15:31] <Viktoriya> She's frozen with a mix of confusion and surprise, mid-chew. She notices the glowing band on her skewer, sighs and tosses the rest of it to Lockjaw, stick and all.
  61. [20:16:40] <@castfromhp> The rest of the lights turn on, and the officers around you give you brief sympathetic looks before leading you toward the Major. You notice now the officers on either side of him are holding large winter coats and snowshoes. Well, at least it looks like you'll be properly equipped for this excursion.
  62. [20:18:01] <@castfromhp> Along with the winter clothing, you each get rolled up maps on a thick parchment paper: http://i.imgur.com/CxaEz.jpg
  63. [20:18:10] <@castfromhp> (for Ryuu's benefit - yeah it's just the same map that I posted before)
  64. [20:18:12] * Gents is now known as Svetlana
  65. [20:18:26] <@castfromhp> (you joining in Gents?)
  66. [20:19:19] <Svetlana> (Sure)
  67. [20:20:06] <Akilina> Blink blink. She's totally caught 'with her pants down', so to speak. But despite taking note of the officers' 'You poor bastards' expressions, she reverts to her default expression, one clearly showing pride in her... Selection, unorthodox as it may be.
  68. [20:20:08] <@castfromhp> "Hey, this one too!" An officer has a brief tug of war with Predves, pulling out a skewer from his mouth. A quick flash of a handheld blacklight reveals a shining band too. Another round of applause breaks out as the officers start pushing Svetlana to the front of the room as well.
  69. [20:21:08] * Svetlana shakes. "Hey! Get your hands off of me!"
  70. [20:21:27] <Viktoriya> She just picks up the bucket and hefts it along with her as she retrieves her share of equipment and maps, then sets the bucket back in it's corner and returns Lockjaw to his pokeball. "Trust me, it's better in the ball then where we're going..."
  71. [20:21:41] <@castfromhp> "We have lost three treasures to the motherland to the storm! First is comrade Mishin. She was supposed to drive in the truck with our pokeball supplies and emergency rations." The Major speaks without paying heed to Svetlana's protests.
  72. [20:22:27] <Svetlana> "Do you even know what you are doing!"
  73. [20:22:33] <Anatoly> Putting on the coats and preparing his snowshoes, Anatoly makes sure the map is secure in the coats inner pocket. He then recalls Peredach back into its pokeball to pay attention to the details of their chilly mission.
  74. [20:22:37] * Svetlana more or less is yelling
  75. [20:22:38] <@castfromhp> He jabs at one of the maps, tracing a path from the forest to the town. "Should have come in this way. Next is Ilya Petrushka. He lives here." He jabs at the plateaus. "But no one has seen him for days, and his shack is all but disappeared! There will be no medicine for the town without him!"
  76. [20:23:36] <@castfromhp> "Shhh, is okay. Happens to all the newbies. You learn to look for the unmarked skewers." An officer reassures Svetlana while still firmly leading her to the front.
  77. [20:24:42] <Svetlana> "I can walk on my own you horsehead!" She protest
  78. [20:25:10] <@castfromhp> "Last is the Golovin brothers, who went on a glorious fishing trip to Lake Stolichnaya but have also disappeared." The Major speaks even louder, over Svetlana.
  79. [20:25:55] <@castfromhp> The officer trying to lead Svetlana gives up and sighs, letting go and stepping back to the wall.
  80. [20:26:17] * Svetlana walks to where she probably needs to be, scoffing
  81. [20:26:38] <@castfromhp> Svetlana gets handed a set of winter clothes and a map like the others.
  82. [20:26:59] <Anatoly> So comrade Mishin, Ilya Petrushka, and the Golovin brothers. It would probably be a good idea to first figure out where the supplies ended up, then medicine and whatever the brothers contribute to the camp.
  83. [20:28:08] <@castfromhp> "So! If you are all ready..." The Major signals another round of applause from the officers before you poor guys are lead over to the town gates. At the north end of town this time, rather than the south entrance you took for the honey-gathering expedition.
  84. [20:28:49] * Svetlana looks at the clothing. "... Do you expect me to wea-" Svetlana looks at the Major and stops protesting. "Finefine"
  85. [20:29:32] <@castfromhp> A pair of Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan snickers, waiting at the gate. The same ones, Svetlana and Anatoly would recognize, from their last mission. But wearing heavy coats this time instead of frilly wtfskirt.
  86. [20:31:07] <@castfromhp> Visibility is...near non-existent! Snow cuts at your faces, driven by the swift winds of the blizzard, and you can hardly see the path in front of you. Your footprints are quickly filled in by more snow as you step out. Luckily, you all have been around here to have some sense of how to navigate even in this weather. Where to first?
  87. [20:31:18] * Svetlana dons heavy coats
  88. [20:31:30] * Anatoly gives his greetings to the gate guards. It does not look like they have much time to work with, so it has to be done efficiently. "Let us first find out what happened to comrade Mishin, comrades."
  89. [20:32:46] * Svetlana greets the Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan with a simple smirk and continues one?
  90. [20:34:31] <Anatoly> "Let us first determine where comrade Mishin ended up. If she is following the road, she should not have wandered too far!"
  91. [20:34:35] <Viktoriya> She looks to Anatoly and nods, then double-checks to make sure her supplies are secured. She nods firmly to the two guard-mon, then looks to her map to try and find the best way to begin towards where the supply truck might be.
  92. [20:35:06] <@castfromhp> (btw guys feel free to split the party. That is always a Good Idea :>)
  93. [20:35:21] <@castfromhp> Everyone roll perception!
  94. [20:35:33] * Akilina (6c153653@sux-D7D2E6A7.mibbit.com) Quit (Ping timeout)
  95. [20:35:53] <Anatoly> 1d20+3 perceiving

  103. [20:37:04] <DiceMaid-9001> Akilina, ... Yep, that's what I goofed.: 8 [2d10=1,2]
  104. [20:37:15] <@castfromhp> Svetlana?
  105. [20:39:21] <@castfromhp> Akilina, you're having trouble even finding the road in all this snow! Viktoriya and Anatoly, however, easily find the path toward the woods, and furthermore, that bits of debris seem to be strewn throughout the snow, half-buried now from the blizzard.
  106. [20:39:28] <Svetlana> 2d10+1 h
  107. [20:39:29] <DiceMaid-9001> Svetlana, h: 11 [2d10=7,3]
  108. [20:40:18] <@castfromhp> Svetlana finds the path easily as well, though she misses the debris. Everyone but Akilina notice the little ears of a Glaceon poking out of a snowdrift. They meander to and fro, twitching slightly every once in a while.
  109. [20:40:39] <Anatoly> "Stay close, comrades! I think I see something!" Anatoly attempts to make sense of what these bits of debris are supposed to be, brushing the snow off them.
  110. [20:41:09] <@castfromhp> The ears go rigid at the sound of Anatoly's voice, then droop down and slowly retreat from the party's location.
  111. [20:41:24] * Svetlana coughs. "Seems like we are being watched"
  112. [20:42:15] <@castfromhp> You brush off some of the debris and find...it's a wooden board? Has some nails in it, and it's lightly engraved.
  113. [20:42:28] <@castfromhp> Roll me an education anyone who's examining that bit of debris.

  119. [20:43:03] <DiceMaid-9001> Viktoriya, Examining the debris...: 5 [2d10=4,1]
  120. [20:44:01] <@castfromhp> Svetlana, you find what looks to be the handle of a bucket sticking out of the snowdrift.
  121. [20:44:25] <@castfromhp> Viktoriya, Anatoly, you have no idea. It's a wooden board. zoof ping sure is a wooden board
  122. [20:44:51] * Svetlana pulls out the handle
  123. [20:44:54] * Akilina 's eyes dart around in the cold at mention of being watched, rocking herself back and forth a bit as she hugs her body to keep warm. "What is it you see?"
  124. [20:45:45] <@castfromhp> Svetlana pulls up a bucket of now very frozen strawberries. The Glaceon ears in the distance perk up and then disappear beneath the snow. A few moments later, Svetlana you feel a nudge at your knees from within the snow. Nudge nudge prod.
  125. [20:46:17] * Anatoly curses how this weather makes it hard to see what the board is about, but figured it would be a good idea to follow where all this debris leads. Might as well hold on to this wooden board with nails as well- it might be important.
  126. [20:46:22] * Svetlana walks back, a little... suprised?
  127. [20:46:54] <@castfromhp> The ears pop up in front of you Svetlana. They sway like antennae before both pointing directly at the bucket you're holding.
  128. [20:47:17] * Masterly (chatzilla@sux-6170F84F.ucdavis.edu) has joined #pochinokadventures
  129. [20:47:21] * Masterly is now known as Dmitri
  130. [20:47:53] * Svetlana holds up the bucket. "Is this what you want"
  131. [20:48:41] <Viktoriya> "Agreed. I think we should-" She pauses as she notices the ears in the snow again, this time close to Svetlana.
  132. [20:50:00] <@castfromhp> The Glaceon hops up, but the snow is deep and it barely manages to get its head fully above the snow. It hops a few more times in vain frustration.
  133. [20:51:01] <@castfromhp> Dmitri is tossed out into the midst of the party by the hitmonlee and hitmonchan. Followed by a small skewer from the dining hall. They snicker and return to their posts.
  134. [20:51:20] * Dmitri scowls and kicks at the snow.
  135. [20:51:40] * Svetlana holds out a berry to the glaceon. "I do not understand blue one. Do you know what has happened?"
  136. [20:52:38] <Dmitri> "Hm? Does the creature have some compunction to aid our endeavors?"
  137. [20:52:40] <@castfromhp> It hops up and eats the strawberry whole, before settling back into its little snow hole. It looks up with a :D expression, or nearest a Glaceon can do to copy that.
  138. [20:53:00] <@castfromhp> It curls up in a ball and rolls around in the snow, back and forth, before stopping in front of you again with a :D
  139. [20:53:09] * Anatoly notices the hopping thing by now, struggling to be seen amidst the snow. He sighs and piles up a few of the boards that the pokemon can use to stay above the snow. Piling the boards would at least help find where they all are by the time they get back, if the snow doesn't decide to cover them entirely. At least they will have a tall pile of snow to spot.
  140. [20:53:55] <Svetlana> "I do not believe so, but it is attempting to be as adorable as possible" Svetlana adds, not phased by these cute endeavors
  141. [20:53:58] <@castfromhp> The snow from the blizzard is already starting to hide your ad-hoc structure again Anatoly, but it seems like it's tall enough to serve as a landmark here in the relatively flat plains.
  142. [20:54:30] * Svetlana looks at the glaceon. "Again, do you know anything about this... pile of debris creature"
  143. [20:54:39] <@castfromhp> It rolls around in a ball more, clumsily crashing into a few of you before rolling onto its back and :Ding
  144. [20:55:38] <Dmitri> "Oi, beast. What is it that you want?"
  145. [20:56:09] <Anatoly> "I think it has taken a liking of you, comrade..." Anatoly said as he watches the pokemon roll about before looking to Sveltana, "Maybe it can help us navigate and search for our missing comrades."
  146. [20:56:17] <@castfromhp> It hops at the strawberries again. At this point, the blizzard slows momentarily, and for just a second you are able to see slightly better than before. Everyone roll a perception check with an additional +2 bonus.
  147. [20:56:40] * Svetlana holds up the berries again while looking around at the... lessening snow?
  148. [20:56:40] <Anatoly> 2d10+5 better weather?
  149. [20:56:40] <DiceMaid-9001> Anatoly, better weather?: 14 [2d10=8,1]
  150. [20:56:44] <Svetlana> 2d10+3 Huh
  151. [20:56:45] <DiceMaid-9001> Svetlana, Huh: 15 [2d10=5,7]
  152. [20:56:46] <Akilina> With it bumping around at people, at this point even Akilina can see it. "If this is but an act, I await greatly to see when it simply is!" Fluff picture? So gotten.
  153. [20:56:47] <Akilina> 2d10+7
  154. [20:56:47] <DiceMaid-9001> Akilina, 2d10+7: 20 [2d10=10,3]
  155. [20:56:48] <Viktoriya> 2d10+4 Perception
  156. [20:56:48] <DiceMaid-9001> Viktoriya, Perception: 20 [2d10=8,8]
  157. [20:56:49] <Dmitri> 2d10+5
  158. [20:56:49] <DiceMaid-9001> Dmitri, 2d10+5: 16 [2d10=4,7]
  159. [20:58:04] <@castfromhp> Akilina and Viktyoria see it clearly! The front of a large military truck is completely covered in snow a ways off, but the tiny bits that jut out - a bumper here, a tire there - are enough to easily identify it as what it is.
  160. [20:59:06] <@castfromhp> Everyone else also gets a clearer vision of the surroundings. Broken trees lie fallen over in the spots where the blizzard was previously too strong to get a good look. They look freshly fallen, not at all rotted. Or maybe they were just preserved by the cold.
  161. [21:00:29] * Svetlana scratches her chin. "Hmm Maybe"
  162. [21:00:38] * Anatoly checks just how packed the snow is around these broken tree trunks. They say you can tell if it is freshly fallen if the snow around it is still soft.
  163. [21:00:54] * Dmitri looks closer, brushing the hair out of his eyes. "Might be."
  164. [21:00:56] <Svetlana> "Are you doing this blue one?" She points. "I'll give you another strawberry if you run this way."
  165. [21:01:04] <Viktoriya> "Ah ha..." She immediately begins to trudge through the snow towards the truck to check it out. "This way!"
  166. [21:01:07] <Akilina> "... I think we may have found what's become of our missing comrade..." Aki approaches the lump of mess that is a truck, signaling to follow.
  167. [21:01:13] <@castfromhp> Quite soft. You would imagine it's just the new snow from the blizzard alone
  168. [21:01:34] <@castfromhp> The Glaceon hops backwards in that direction, eyes on you the whole time Svetlana.
  169. [21:02:52] <Anatoly> "Something may have happened to the supply caravan. It is best that we hurry," Anatoly follows after Viktoriya and Akilina to see what they found.
  170. [21:02:59] <@castfromhp> Most of the truck is hidden in the snow, with only a bit of it sticking out.
  171. [21:03:14] * Aki (Botherer@sux-DD2124CF.nycmny.fios.verizon.net) has joined #pochinokadventures
  172. [21:03:59] <@castfromhp> Viktoriya, you're the first to the truck and notice that...huh, it's missing its entire back half. Or, if it's still there, it has to be buried beneath the ground. The front of the truck is facing at an upward angle, and there's no other way...
  173. [21:04:20] <Svetlana> "Okay run over near that one!" She points to Akilina and stays in one spot
  174. [21:05:13] <@castfromhp> The Glaceon pops underneath the snow and two ears pop up at your feet Svetlana. They sway and point at the strawberries again, and then the Glaceon sticks its head up too, mouth wide open.
  175. [21:06:17] <Viktoriya> She checks the cab for any signs of life, or any clues to what might have happened.
  176. [21:06:37] * Anatoly sends Peredach out as well to help dig off the snow, because constantly shifting gears are useful for digging snow out. He has to take note to clean and oil Peredach again when they get back to camp.
  177. [21:06:48] * Svetlana drops a berry in and keeps walkling
  178. [21:07:25] <@castfromhp> Viktoriya: perception check
  179. [21:07:39] <@castfromhp> Athletics if anyone wants to try to dig out the snow around the truck
  180. [21:07:49] <Viktoriya> 2d10+2 Perception
  181. [21:07:49] <DiceMaid-9001> Viktoriya, Perception: 14 [2d10=10,2]
  182. [21:07:57] * Dmitri releases Eligor from his ball and points him at the snow.
  183. [21:08:11] <Dmitri> "Eligor, sniff out whatever you can. We need help."
  184. [21:09:31] <@castfromhp> Viktoriya you find a single boot laying just outside the cab, and a small pack containing a pocket knife and snacks lying a bit further out. Seems like whoever was in here decided to leave the cab...or was taken.
  185. [21:09:41] <Svetlana> "Come along blue one"
  186. [21:10:51] <@castfromhp> (roll for tracker - it's a d20 with DC 11 to pick up a scent from a source like this)
  187. [21:11:08] <Viktoriya> "...This doesn't look good for our comrade." She takes the gear and supplies.
  188. [21:11:17] <@castfromhp> The Glaceon dutifully follows, pawing at the back of your legs and trying to climb up.
  189. [21:11:30] <Dmitri> 1d20
  190. [21:11:31] <DiceMaid-9001> Dmitri, 1d20: 2 [1d20=2]
  191. [21:11:34] <Dmitri> D:
  192. [21:11:48] <@castfromhp> The rhyhorn looks up and shakes his head. Seems like the blizzard washed away too much of the scent.
  193. [21:12:17] <Dmitri> "Ah, don't worry about it. Just help out with moving the snow. We will uncover the situation, yet."
  194. [21:12:32] <Aki> Aki joins Viktoriya in looking this damned truck up and down, though looking through her lens the whole time. More trying to figure out 'What the hell even happened to this truck?" since it seems Tori got "Where's comrade at?" covered.
  195. [21:12:34] * Anatoly figured there should be some way for marking this spot. No way they can get the truck back up without any help. With assistance from his pokemon, they manage to prop one of the trunks up against the truck before following the others.
  196. [21:12:35] <@castfromhp> Viktoriya, you also find, as you step toward the bag of gear, that you can see part of the back of the truck from there, at least enough to see a gaping tear. Some sort of large sheering force made it.
  197. [21:13:42] <@castfromhp> More and more of it is revealed as the rhyhorn gets to work, and you see in fact the entire back half of the truck is just GONE, ripped off of the rest of the vehicle. That was also the half that had all the pokeballs and food supplies of course.
  198. [21:14:51] * Svetlana looks at the rhyhorn
  199. [21:14:55] <Viktoriya> "...Something BIG was here..."
  200. [21:15:04] <Anatoly> "Whatever did that must have been big... Comrade Mishin definitely is in trouble..." Anatoly commented, looking at the remains of the truck now that snow was ridden of for now.
  201. [21:15:44] <Dmitri> "Tch, keep at it Eligor."
  202. [21:15:51] <Dmitri> "If it's big just leave it to Eligor."
  203. [21:16:03] <Anatoly> Have they heard anything that was causing trouble outside the camp lately?
  204. [21:16:08] * Dmitri pats at the rock pokemon's side, "He is...strong."
  205. [21:16:37] <@castfromhp> You've mostly just heard about the blizzard. No one has gone too far outside of town without needing to, with the exception of Ilya the crazy hill hermit, and the two fishing brothers.
  206. [21:17:01] <Anatoly> "We should find where Comrade Mishin ended up, and most likely find where the supplies are when we find her."
  207. [21:17:30] <@castfromhp> Eligor digs more of the snow out, and the half of the truck remaining lurches as the snow that was keeping it propped up is removed. From a corner nested in the back slips out one crate of supplies, mostly smashed.
  208. [21:17:32] <Dmitri> "Eligor could try to track her down again."
  209. [21:17:50] * Dmitri approaches carefully and gingerly brushes at the box."
  210. [21:18:35] <@castfromhp> You brush off the first layer of snow and feel a tiny prick. Closer examination reveals it's full of syringes - TMs. And they're mostly worthless. You see maybe...2 or 3 that can still be salvaged, you think.
  211. [21:19:00] <@castfromhp> It'll take a careful hand to remove them without damaging them as well - Focus for anyone who wants to try.
  212. [21:19:19] <Dmitri> Realizing he isn't qualified for the job, Dmitri waves over the others.
  213. [21:19:31] <Dmitri> "Come," he commands, "There is business to be done."
  214. [21:19:46] <Viktoriya> She approaches the crate and Dmitri. "Hmm?"
  215. [21:20:07] <Anatoly> Anatoly comes closer to carefully examine what remains of the TM syringes, "Great care is needed for these... Not sure if I can manage."
  216. [21:20:32] <Dmitri> "You will, or you will fail."
  217. [21:20:38] <Dmitri> "It is as simple as that."
  218. [21:21:20] * Svetlana investigates the crate. "What are these?"
  219. [21:21:54] <Dmitri> "TM syringes. I believe they can be salvaged but they will need a steadier hand than mine to extract them without fail."
  220. [21:22:25] * Svetlana examines them with her massive intellect
  221. [21:22:33] <Viktoriya> She rubs her hands together to warm and limber them as she kneels down beside the box, preparing to extract some of the salvagable needless.
  222. [21:22:48] <Svetlana> "I will be the judge of what is savagable!"
  223. [21:22:54] <Svetlana> 2d10+4 Okay
  224. [21:22:55] <DiceMaid-9001> Svetlana, Okay: 14 [2d10=3,7]
  225. [21:22:57] <Dmitri> "Do it."
  226. [21:23:01] <Viktoriya> 2d10+4 Focus
  227. [21:23:02] <DiceMaid-9001> Viktoriya, Focus: 17 [2d10=9,4]
  228. [21:23:15] <Anatoly> (win)
  229. [21:23:43] * Anatoly keeps an eye of their surroundings as the rest gather salvageable syringes.
  230. [21:24:17] <@castfromhp> The two of you working together carefully manage to pull out three TMs from the crate! Reading their labels, they seem to be Swords Dance, Trick Room, and Toxic.
  231. [21:24:44] <Svetlana> "It seems we have 3! Make good team we do!"
  232. [21:25:12] <@castfromhp> The rest of the box seems unsalvageable.
  233. [21:25:56] <Anatoly> Maybe he can spot anything else that would hint where comrade Mishin has gone.
  234. [21:26:32] <@castfromhp> Hmm, roll another perception, now that the snow around the base of the vehicle has been cleared up.
  235. [21:26:51] <Anatoly> 2d10+3 perceiving we are
  236. [21:26:52] <DiceMaid-9001> Anatoly, perceiving we are: 19 [2d10=7,9]
  237. [21:26:57] <Dmitri> 2d10+3
  238. [21:26:58] <DiceMaid-9001> Dmitri, 2d10+3: 12 [2d10=4,5]
  239. [21:27:23] <Svetlana> 2d10+1
  240. [21:27:24] <DiceMaid-9001> Svetlana, 2d10+1: 17 [2d10=7,9]
  241. [21:27:40] <Viktoriya> "I'll hold onto them until we can deal with them safely. Objections?" She straightens up and begins to carefully tuck the TMs away inside of her heavy coat.
  242. [21:27:54] <Anatoly> "None, comrade."
  243. [21:28:00] <Dmitri> "I do not care so long as you do nto break them."
  244. [21:28:51] <@castfromhp> Anatoly and Svetlana: The ground is incredibly torn up here. Brushing away more of the snow, you see large gouges into the ground, deep slash marks, and a deep indentation over the whole area. This pattern leads off toward the woods.
  245. [21:29:14] * Svetlana holds up a berry. "Blue one, sniff this for a berry and lead us to the scent"
  246. [21:29:41] <Anatoly> "Stay close Peredach. Something dangerous was here..."
  247. [21:30:07] <@castfromhp> It appears to be a trail of sorts, now covered by deep snow.
  248. [21:30:19] <@castfromhp> The Glaceon looks confused. It eats the berry. Berries are for eating, not for sniffing.
  249. [21:30:40] <@castfromhp> It slowly climbs its way onto your shoulder and tries to reach for the bucket of strawberries directly.
  250. [21:31:23] * Dmitri points Eligor at the slash marks and pats his side twice.
  251. [21:32:17] <Viktoriya> She watches the Glaceon and grins, but hides it well with her hood.
  252. [21:33:10] * Svetlana points to the trail. "Sniff that, and lead us to the source!" Svetlana pushes the glaceon away
  253. [21:33:45] <@castfromhp> The Glaceon yelps and digs itself into the snow. It starts heading toward the woods with droopy ears popping out just above the surface.
  254. [21:34:09] * Dmitri rubs Eligor's snout comfortingly, "Do not worry, Eligor. You tried. There is always next time."
  255. [21:34:12] * Svetlana gives it another berry
  256. [21:34:21] <Dmitri> "We will not let the little ice Pokemon show us up, will we?"
  257. [21:34:22] <@castfromhp> As your eyes follow it, you see the edge of the woods, obscured by the snow blowing in your face.
  258. [21:34:48] <@castfromhp> Eligor nuzzles with you and proceeds in the wake of the Glaceon with a determined look.
  259. [21:35:10] <Viktoriya> She begins to trudge after the Glaceon. "Our best lead so far..."
  260. [21:35:18] * Svetlana keeps walking. "It'd be better if that rock creature was nearly as cute as this blue one."
  261. [21:35:20] * Anatoly follows the Glaceon as well.
  262. [21:36:04] <Dmitri> "Eligor is cute in his own way. And he is strong of heart, if not in body."
  263. [21:36:17] <Dmitri> "You would do well to r3frain from speaking poorly of him."
  264. [21:36:38] * Svetlana shoots Dmitri a look. "I do believe I say and do as I feel necessary."
  265. [21:36:39] <@castfromhp> The Glaceon returns to eat the berry and then continues on its way. You get the feeling it doesn't really know where it's going, as it stops once in a while to dive under the snow and poke its ears up to startle a group of sentret, then leap at a hoothoot on a fallen log, and nibble on an oddish that promptly leaps out of the ground and runs away from it toward the party.
  266. [21:37:38] <Dmitri> "Tch, your opinions matter little."
  267. [21:37:48] * Dmitri remains by Eligor's side as they follow.
  268. [21:38:33] <@castfromhp> From where you stand to the side of the path, the Cheylabinsk forest lies to the East, the trail toward the plateaus to the northwest, and the lake lies far west of here. Where are you heading?
  269. [21:38:46] * Svetlana grumbles inappropriate things about Dmitri's mother under her breath as she looks at the Glaceon. "I doo not believe this thing has any idea where it's going"
  270. [21:39:57] <@castfromhp> It perks up and returns to you from its detour, curling up into a ball and rolling all around between you, circling someone before moving on to the next. It ends by bumping into Svetlana and falling over on its back.
  271. [21:40:08] * Svetlana pets the creature anyway and thinks. "Okay what should we do."
  272. [21:40:16] <Dmitri> "Apparently not," he says scowlingly.
  273. [21:40:55] <Aki> "Then perhaps we should put trust once more in... Eligor, was it? There may yet be more buried beneath the snow for him to work with..." She, too, pat pats and pets the Rhyhorn. (You want a Prob Control Dmitri?)
  274. [21:41:09] <Dmitri> (What does that do?)
  275. [21:41:26] <Aki> (Re-roll Tracker.)
  276. [21:42:03] <Dmitri> "Eligor, dig into the snow. Try not to disturb the ground. We will be relying on you once more"
  277. [21:42:06] <Dmitri> 1d20
  278. [21:42:07] <DiceMaid-9001> Dmitri, 1d20: 20 [1d20=20]
  279. [21:42:10] <Dmitri> :D
  280. [21:42:25] * Anatoly checks the map. He recalls the brothers are at the lake, while the hermit is up in the plateau. If they are going to split up, now may be a good time.
  281. [21:44:21] <@castfromhp> The rhyhorn starts digging...and digging more...and digging and holy shit the entire ground here is marked like that, like a set of criss-crossing trails covering the land. Eligor digs in with his horn to indicate the most direct scent from here goes into the woods, but there are trails off toward the plateau AND the lake.
  282. [21:45:02] <@castfromhp> Given another minute, the rhyhorn drags to you bits of debris from the truck showing that some of it was out towards those directions too - too far for something to have been flung there by an impact. It had to be dragged after it was ripped from the truck, you would guess.
  283. [21:45:38] <@castfromhp> The snowstorm is too fierce for you to see more directly what lies in each direction, but it's a simple walk any which way.
  284. [21:46:12] * Dmitri smiles confidently and gives Eligor a treat from his bag. "I knew I could count on you."
  285. [21:46:17] <@castfromhp> Additionally, some of the slash marks, holes, indentations, and craters have bits of small debris smashed into them that the rhyhorn digs up, as if they were pressed into the ground as the impact happened.
  286. [21:46:36] <Svetlana> "Oh god this thing isn't completely useless like it's master! Huzzah!"
  287. [21:47:01] <@castfromhp> Broken pokeballs, smashed potion bottles, a half of a fishing rod, more of the wooden planks you saw from before, what looks like broken bits of a ceramic pot, a lantern, a bit of metal girder, lots of different shit.
  288. [21:47:06] <Anatoly> "It looks like we may have to split up to cover more ground from here..." Anatoly suggested as he looked to what the rhyhorn brought back, "Svetlana will lead for the search for comrade Mishin. I will search for the brothers at the lake. Akilina, Dmitri, Viktoriya- decide who you wish to accompany for the search."
  289. [21:47:16] <Dmitri> "You may denigrate me if you wish, I care little for the words of /your/ people but you will not call Eligot a 'thing' again."
  290. [21:47:22] <Dmitri> Eligor*
  291. [21:48:24] <Svetlana> "My People? I do not understand what you refer to as 'your people'"
  292. [21:48:51] <Dmitri> "...never you mind."
  293. [21:49:34] * Svetlana gives Dmitri a look. "Which ever way this mongrel goes, I do not with to accompany him"
  294. [21:50:13] * Dmitri scoffs, "/You/ calling /me/ a mongrel. The list of things I have heard now contains everything."
  295. [21:50:14] <Anatoly> "Now is not the time for quarrels, comrades. People are in danger and need our aid." Anatoly reminds the two, hoping to defuse this disagreement so they can rescue the missing people and recover supplies.
  296. [21:50:57] <Svetlana> "Right, I do not wish to accompany this one."
  297. [21:51:33] <@castfromhp> By this point, a group of hoothoots has gathered on a branch of a broken tree. They seem to be passing berries between each other and watching your argument intently. One of them is leading the 'conversation' and almost seems to be commentating.
  298. [21:51:37] <Dmitri> "Eligor will be of great aid in locating Mishin. I will lead the search for her.
  299. [21:53:05] * Svetlana shoos the birds away. "And I'll search for the brothers then."
  300. [21:53:09] <Viktoriya> "I'll go to the lake. Lockjaw may be off more help there."
  301. [21:54:23] <Anatoly> "I will assist in the search for comrade Mishin as well. It is important we recover the supplies as soon as possible."
  302. [21:55:08] * Svetlana latches on to Viktoriya. "Come then comrade"
  303. [21:55:38] <@castfromhp> Viktoriya, Svetlana: Join #pochinoklake and leave this channel :>
  304. [21:55:47] <Svetlana> (no)
  305. [21:55:51] * Svetlana (Gents@A960865F.3B790791.F77E3A26.IP) has left #pochinokadventures
  306. [21:55:57] <Dmitri> "Good riddance."
  307. [21:56:16] * Viktoriya (BatzorigNa@sux-E1F5B511.washdc.fios.verizon.net) has left #pochinokadventures
  308. [21:57:06] <Aki> "Then I shall search for Comrade Ilya and make sure no man is left behind."
  309. [21:57:25] <@castfromhp> Botherer: #pochinokhills
  310. [21:57:46] <Anatoly> "Stay safe, comrades. We will meet back at the remains of the truck."
  311. [21:59:17] <@castfromhp> (Aki Akilina botherer highlight?)
  312. [22:00:32] * Aki (Botherer@sux-DD2124CF.nycmny.fios.verizon.net) has left #pochinokadventures
  313. [22:02:26] <@castfromhp> Alright, our remaining troopers, heading toward the forest with Eligor?
  314. [22:03:59] <Anatoly> Pretty much. The rhyhorn has the trail after all.
  315. [22:03:59] <@castfromhp> The Cheyllabinsk Forest, as you have come to know it, is incredibly dense. Once inside, you normally cannot see the edge of the woods or even see more than a trickle of light shine down from the snow-covered canopy. This...is not the scene that greets you as you approach the woods. Instead, a gaping whole in the forest's edge greets you, smashed trees making a flattened wood bridge leading in.
  316. [22:04:00] <Dmitri> Mhm
  317. [22:04:58] * Anatoly checks just how big is the space made by whatever passed by here, using himself as a comparison for size.
  318. [22:04:59] <@castfromhp> Bits of cloth, wood, other debris hangs from the branches at the edge of this "path" through the woods, some of it rather high up in the canopy. Look at that, you swear to Marx that those are power lines from the telephone poles that line the paths outside town.
  319. [22:05:09] <@castfromhp> Several body lengths wide.
  320. [22:05:11] <@castfromhp> It's huge.
  321. [22:05:38] * Anatoly still has no idea if this is a pokemon they are dealing with.
  322. [22:06:54] * Akilina (6c153653@sux-D7D2E6A7.mibbit.com) has left #pochinokadventures
  323. [22:07:44] * Dmitri clicks his tongue, "Keep your Pokemon out and at the ready."
  324. [22:07:57] <Dmitri> "We should expect to defend ourselves in a worst case scenario."
  325. [22:08:09] <Anatoly> "Any idea of what we are to face, comrade Dmitri?" Anatoly asked as he motions for Peredach to follow closely beside him.
  326. [22:08:32] <Dmitri> "I am unsure myself, but we are looking something powerful."
  327. [22:09:12] <Anatoly> "We can agree on that then..." he nods in reply as he looks ahead, paying attention to their surroundings as they continue their advance.
  328. [22:09:40] <@castfromhp> Roll me...survival as you enter the forest!
  329. [22:09:47] <@castfromhp> Or perception, if it's higher.
  330. [22:09:53] <@castfromhp> I'm just trying not to make everything perception checks. ;-;
  331. [22:10:12] <Dmitri> 2d10+3
  332. [22:10:12] <DiceMaid-9001> Dmitri, 2d10+3: 17 [2d10=7,7]
  333. [22:10:15] <Anatoly> 2d10+4 has poor survival checks
  334. [22:10:16] <DiceMaid-9001> Anatoly, has poor survival checks: 13 [2d10=6,3]
  335. [22:11:33] <@castfromhp> There's a quick movement out of the corner of your eye. Then another. Then another. Alternating sides, coming from all directions as you turn your head. After a few seconds of this, you decide enough is enough and manage to lock onto one of them. Oh, it's just a sentret, hopping from secluded spot to secluded spot in the forest. Caught, it looks dismayed at its game and slinks off.
  336. [22:11:49] <@castfromhp> Overhead, you hear a small laugh and can look up to see a shuppet and gastly floating there, watching.
  337. [22:13:13] * Anatoly isn't sure if the pokemon in the wild are playful. At least they are not being ferocious at them.
  338. [22:13:17] <Dmitri> "Oi, ghosts. Have you seen particularly large or strong Pokemon pass by?"
  339. [22:13:30] <Dmitri> Charm or command?
  340. [22:13:43] <Anatoly> *in the wild are playful is a good thing.
  341. [22:14:14] <@castfromhp> Ghosts are playful tricksters. Guile or charm.
  342. [22:14:29] <Dmitri> 2d10+5 Charm
  343. [22:14:29] <DiceMaid-9001> Dmitri, Charm: 19 [2d10=10,4]
  344. [22:15:12] <@castfromhp> The shuppet floats lower toward you and points off in the direction of the path of destruction you see before you, doing a series of somersaults in the air down the path. It stops after a few and continues pointing.
  345. [22:15:33] <@castfromhp> It then backs up and strains to try to mime holding hands to the side of its head.
  346. [22:15:42] <@castfromhp> It doesn't do a very good job. Poor shuppet. No hands. :<
  347. [22:15:54] * Dmitri smiles, "You do your kind credit, little one."
  348. [22:16:19] <Dmitri> "What are you trying to tell me though?"
  349. [22:16:33] <Anatoly> "Probably something big and rolls..." Anatoly said, putting together what the Glaceon did earlier and now the shuppet, "There are only a few pokemon that can roll and do this much damage..."
  350. [22:16:41] <Dmitri> "Anatoly, can your Pokemon help to translate?"
  351. [22:17:13] <@castfromhp> It floats and spins in the air a bit before tugging at your sleeve, trying to drag you to the side of the path.
  352. [22:17:49] * Dmitri quirks his eyebrow and follows, motioning for Eligor to follow as well.
  353. [22:18:10] <Anatoly> "Peredach, can you confirm if this is the case with the shuppet?" Anatoly asks before he notices the shuppet tugging on Dmiti's sleeves. He quickly follows as well, just at the feeling something is up.
  354. [22:18:36] <Dmitri> "Calm yourself, I will do as you say."
  355. [22:20:02] <Anatoly> Peredach is also motioned to stay to the side of the path with Anatoly.
  356. [22:20:36] <@castfromhp> The Klink converses with the shuppet for a while and then nods at the two of you. The Shuppet nudges you to proceed, but to keep to the side of the path. What do?
  357. [22:21:01] <Anatoly> We keep to the side of the path. That shuppet knows something.
  358. [22:23:45] * Dmitri gives the Pokemon a gentle pat on its head.
  359. [22:24:34] <@castfromhp> As you proceed further down into the woods, a ringing begins to fill your ears, and your pokemon - and the wild pokemon around, begin to look irritated. A low rumbling can be heard in the distance.
  360. [22:24:38] <@castfromhp> Roll focus and command.
  361. [22:24:59] <Anatoly> 2d10+9 command
  362. [22:25:00] <DiceMaid-9001> Anatoly, command: 23 [2d10=9,5]
  363. [22:25:01] <Dmitri> 2d10+1 Focus; 2d10+6 Command
  364. [22:25:01] <DiceMaid-9001> Dmitri, Focus: 15 [2d10=8,6]; Command: 15 [2d10=1,8]
  365. [22:25:11] <Anatoly> 2d10+2 focus
  366. [22:25:11] <DiceMaid-9001> Anatoly, focus: 16 [2d10=7,7]
  367. [22:25:18] <@castfromhp> (hot damn those are good rolls)
  368. [22:25:28] <Anatoly> (no kidding)
  369. [22:25:31] <Dmitri> I only got one good roll
  370. [22:25:49] <Anatoly> (decent results though)
  371. [22:26:16] <Dmitri> Yeah on account of my high command
  372. [22:26:30] <@castfromhp> You manage to keep ahold of yourselves as the ringing continues. Perhaps more importantly, you're able to calm the pokemon with you and keep them from fleeing. The rumbling grows louder, and the ringing in your head grows more distinct, into a chorus of humming voices.
  373. [22:26:47] <Dmitri> "Ready yourself Anatoly."
  374. [22:26:56] <@castfromhp> The sentret from before has called friends and they have all begun to gather on the tree branches around you.
  375. [22:27:36] * Anatoly looks around and nods, bracing himself for what is ready. Wrench is now in hand as the sounds grow louder.
  376. [22:29:51] <@castfromhp> The rumbling comes from the north, and you can hear trees being smashed. It's too far for you to see, but bits of debris manage to make their way to you, and you are pelted by tomatoes, bits of shattered glass, and splinters of wood.
  377. [22:29:55] <Dmitri> Nodding likewise, Dmitri withdraws a few silvered knives from his bags and tosses them to and fro in his palm.
  378. [22:31:35] <@castfromhp> The sound passes, the huge rumbling coming from deep within the woods going by toward what you assume is an exit. After a while, the sound of smashing trees stops, followed by the sound of snow being thrown up in the air as it presumably barrels out toward the plains.
  379. [22:33:26] <Anatoly> "So it is not one pokemon, but many..." Anatoly said as the rumbling dies down. They still have no idea what sort of pokemon they are dealing with!
  380. [22:34:16] <Dmitri> "Let us give chase then. They may be returning from whence they come."
  381. [22:35:01] <Anatoly> "Yes!"
  382. [22:35:18] * Dmitri turns and bows at the Shuppet courteously, "You have been a great aid to us, should you require my own aid I will be glad to assist you as soon as I deal with this swarm."
  383. [22:35:33] <@castfromhp> It spins around your head happily.
  384. [22:36:44] <Dmitri> "I would request that you follow but I cannot assure your own protection so I am afraid this is where we must part ways."
  385. [22:36:55] <Dmitri> "It was a pleasure."
  386. [22:37:19] <@castfromhp> It tilts its head and then dives at your hood, popping back out. It sort of tries to shrug in an "are you sure?" sort of manner.
  387. [22:37:47] * Anatoly also nods a thanks to the shuppet before leading the way with Peredach by his side. They need to find out what kind of pokemon that forms this swarm!
  388. [22:38:25] * Dmitri smiles, "I would not willingly put you in harm's way. You are free to follow of course and I will do my best to shield you from harm but again, it is your choice."
  389. [22:39:25] <@castfromhp> It spins again, rising in a spiral in the air, before ducking into your hood, its eyes peeking out.
  390. [22:39:58] <Dmitri> "Then stay close. Eligor and I will offer our best."
  391. [22:40:33] <Dmitri> "And fortunately for you, our standards are...quiet a bit higher than your typical...comrade."
  392. [22:40:37] <Dmitri> quite*
  393. [22:40:54] * Dmitri spits the last word out rudely but makes no overt gestures.
  394. [22:42:07] <@castfromhp> It nods and sits in wait. Which way are you proceeding? Back the way you came or over through the brushery to where you think the path the rumbling thing most recently took is?
  395. [22:42:45] <Dmitri> to the rumbling I guess
  396. [22:42:51] <Anatoly> I believe the latter would be faster, albeit risky.
  397. [22:43:12] <Dmitri> no risk no reward
  398. [22:43:31] <@castfromhp> The forest is quite thick and difficult to traverse through that path. Roll survival
  399. [22:43:31] <Anatoly> yup
  400. [22:44:07] <Dmitri> 2d10 Survival
  401. [22:44:07] <Anatoly> 2d10-1
  402. [22:44:08] <DiceMaid-9001> Dmitri, Survival: 4 [2d10=3,1]
  403. [22:44:08] <DiceMaid-9001> Anatoly, 2d10-1: 5 [2d10=2,4]
  404. [22:44:11] <Dmitri> :/
  405. [22:44:14] <Dmitri> Uhhhh
  406. [22:44:17] <Anatoly> 3:
  407. [22:44:35] <Dmitri> (Woo, send the people with no survival skills into the forest lol)
  408. [22:45:41] <@castfromhp> You catch your feet on some vines and trip on the way there. Then you're waylaid by some fallen branches, and yowch, you shouldn't have tugged on that bit of tree it dropped a rather solidified chunk of snow on your head. Eventually, you may it over to a very similar carved out path in the forest, though you think it took you longer than it should've.
  409. [22:46:23] <@castfromhp> Glancing around, you notice it's definitely wider than the one you were in. Disappearing off out of the forest is a small green figure, though it's too far away for you to make it out now. The buzzing humming in your head subsides.
  410. [22:48:01] <Dmitri> "Ugh, Eligor we're going after it!"
  411. [22:50:18] <@castfromhp> As you two give chase and exit the woods you finally see what the hell was making this horrid mess. Off in the distance is a huge sphere made of fallen trees, bits of a truck, parts of a wooden shack, telephone poles and power lines, a miltank in there somewhere, part of a boat, and various other - oh what the hell, you see this: http://cdn.ripten.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/katamari.jpg
  412. [22:50:59] <Dmitri> "..."
  413. [22:51:18] * Dmitri turns to Shuppet and says, "I'm sorry but nothing you could have mimed would have prepared me for this."
  414. [22:52:01] <@castfromhp> The little green figure disappears into thin air, quite a distance away. You see now that you're out of the woods that it's a Ralts with two green cylinders attached to the side of its head.
  415. [22:52:30] <@castfromhp> The large rolling Katamari is headnig up the plateau, even the incline not able to stop its momentum.
  416. [22:52:46] <Dmitri> "Oi! Pokemon! What have you done with the supply truck!?"
  417. [22:53:40] <@castfromhp> There's no response, it seems to have teleported.
  418. [22:53:47] <@castfromhp> (btw the humming was totally this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ka9qs4nr92M)
  419. [22:54:04] <Dmitri> "Eligor, can you track it?"
  420. [22:56:40] <@castfromhp> Roll it
  421. [22:56:55] <Dmitri> 1d20 Track
  422. [22:56:56] <DiceMaid-9001> Dmitri, Track: 10 [1d20=10]
  423. [22:56:59] <Dmitri> D:
  424. [22:57:02] <Dmitri> 1 away
  425. [22:57:03] <Dmitri> UGH
  426. [22:57:22] <Dmitri> I guess my training wasn't ace enough...
  427. [22:58:01] <Dmitri> can uh
  428. [22:58:03] <@castfromhp> Eligor stomps away like it found its scent, then stops. Seems like the teleporting is making it too tough to follow!
  429. [22:58:06] <Dmitri> I use constructive crit?
  430. [22:58:10] <Dmitri> criticism?
  431. [22:58:17] <Dmitri> I know it's only to AC but
  432. [22:58:30] <@castfromhp> Hm, sure.
  433. [22:58:46] <Dmitri> Do I reroll or add that +1 to get 11?
  434. [22:59:02] <@castfromhp> Then he perks up again and points with his horn. You see at the top of the plateau that the Katamari has smashed through part of the hillside and is barreling down - with the little green ralts following it.
  435. [22:59:20] <Dmitri> "Good job! Let's go Eligor!"
  436. [22:59:36] * Dmitri charges up the plateau with Eligor as his side.
  437. [23:03:03] <@castfromhp> As you get closer to the giant Katamari, it hits a bump and bounces up in the air. When it lands, it bounces again and lands right atop a very surprised Ralts that quickly gets rolled up into it. Now the Katamari is rolling at you. What do?
  438. [23:03:40] <@castfromhp> With each bounce, bits of debris fall loose. A few sentrets. A sentret with a sentry turret. A hoothoot. A fallen tree. A basket of apples.
  439. [23:03:43] <Dmitri> How big is the ball?
  440. [23:04:26] <Dmitri> If dmitri is close to 6 ft how many of hims is the ball in diameter?
  441. [23:05:03] <@castfromhp> It's large enough to have incorporated trees and and the like into itself. Large enough that even something as big as half a truck isn't easily identifiable at a glance. So I'd say maybe like...8 of him? I'm bad at estimating sorry. :<
  442. [23:05:22] <Dmitri> Any holes nearby?
  443. [23:06:14] <Dmitri> "That Pokemon is controlling the ball Eligor! Take it down and we might be able to stop the ball yet."
  444. [23:06:58] <@castfromhp> The Ralts has been rolled up in the Katamari. NO ONE'S CONTROLLING IT NOW OH NO
  445. [23:07:09] <@castfromhp> Roll perception or survival
  446. [23:07:15] <Dmitri> 2d10+4 Perception
  447. [23:07:16] <DiceMaid-9001> Dmitri, Perception: 13 [2d10=2,7]
  448. [23:07:28] <Dmitri> dead average roll
  449. [23:08:16] <@castfromhp> Luckily your mod gets you enough to find one of the deeper indents in the ground the Katamari made earlier. Since it's bouncing around now you're PRETTY sure if you lay down in the crater it'll just bounce off the edge and miss you.
  450. [23:09:08] <Dmitri> Can I have Eligor time an attack to knock the ralts out?
  451. [23:09:43] <Dmitri> Out of the ball I mean
  452. [23:10:22] * Dmitri pressing himself down to the ground, Dmitri whispers to Shuppet.
  453. [23:10:35] <@castfromhp> At this point, it's gone somewhere in the interior of the Katamari. You'd have to find a way to expose it first.
  454. [23:10:44] * Anatoly isn't sure what to make of the sight. He does have to figure out what to do to help Dmitri out and fast.
  455. [23:10:54] <Dmitri> "I was hoping I would not need to do this, but can you do anything about this little one?"
  456. [23:11:02] <Dmitri> "You know the lay of the land better than I"
  457. [23:11:15] <Dmitri> "How might we expose the green Pokemon from earlier?"
  458. [23:11:34] <Dmitri> "We must stop it before the ball threatens the whole of the Sinnoh countryside..."
  459. [23:11:37] <@castfromhp> Valid targets are a black crystal that seems to be jutting out of the ball, a yellow ball of fluff on the outside, the structure of the thing (telephone poles, trees, etc), some crates of food you see poking out, an...entire shack made of wood?, a giant cooler, half of a military truck, what looks like a giant oven.
  460. [23:12:39] <Anatoly> Peredach, Charge up!
  461. [23:12:53] <@castfromhp> If you want to roll to hit one of those, it's a -4 to your AC roll. You can also just hit the thing in general and see where that gets you.
  462. [23:13:09] <Dmitri> "Eligor, strike at my command! Stay out of the ball's way but when it passes you by, slam into the black crystal. It may be fragile enough for you to break!"
  463. [23:13:21] <Dmitri> 1d20-3 (Constructive Criticism) AC
  464. [23:13:22] <DiceMaid-9001> Dmitri, (Constructive Criticism) AC: 5 [1d20=8]
  465. [23:14:12] <@castfromhp> That hits! ...Unfortunately for you, the black crystal seemed to be a swarm of zubats all huddled together with a thin sheet of ice over them. They swarm out and screech in a most irritating fashion!
  466. [23:14:17] <@castfromhp> Speeds please!
  467. [23:14:36] <Dmitri> DMI: 4 ELI: 3
  468. [23:14:41] <Dmitri> Do I still roll damage?
  469. [23:14:41] <Anatoly> Anatoly 4, Peredach 3
  470. [23:14:57] <@castfromhp> Yes roll damage
  471. [23:15:15] <Dmitri> 3d8+28 Stomp
  472. [23:15:16] <DiceMaid-9001> Dmitri, Stomp: 49 [3d8=5,8,8]
  473. [23:15:27] <Dmitri> Or make that horn attack if stomp can't work
  474. [23:15:51] <Dmitri> 1d10 if whatever I hit is small (ignore it if I have to use horn attack)
  475. [23:15:51] <DiceMaid-9001> Dmitri, if whatever I hit is small (ignore it if I have to use horn attack): 5 [1d10=5]
  476. [23:16:16] <@castfromhp> Eligor stoops down and jumps up in the air, bringing a foot crashing down on the crystal.
  477. [23:16:36] <@castfromhp> (btw damage rolls were changed. If you look up in the #ptuplaytests channel I think I listed the ones for stomp and horn attack for you. Just control f for those)
  478. [23:17:01] <Dmitri> (Oh, want me to reroll?)
  479. [23:17:10] <@castfromhp> (nah it's fine for this attack)
  480. [23:17:15] <Anatoly> (I'll wait for turn order)
  481. [23:17:50] * castfromhp changes topic to 'KATAMARI > Zubat Swarm 13 > Dmitri = Anatoly > Peredach = Eligor'
  482. [23:18:07] <@castfromhp> The Katamari starts bouncing toward....Anatoly!
  483. [23:18:10] <@castfromhp> 2d10+8
  484. [23:18:11] <DiceMaid-9001> castfromhp, 2d10+8: 12 [2d10=2,2]
  485. [23:18:15] <@castfromhp> roll your athletics or acrobatics
  486. [23:18:35] <Anatoly> 2d10-1 both are same 3:
  487. [23:18:37] <DiceMaid-9001> Anatoly, both are same 3:: 13 [2d10=6,8]
  488. [23:19:00] <@castfromhp> Through some quick maneuvering, you seem to be well out of the way of the Katamari for now. It's still going at you.
  489. [23:19:15] <@castfromhp> The swarm of zubats swoops down at your pokemon and Dmitri
  490. [23:19:29] <@castfromhp> 3#1d20 bite attacks at dmi, eli, pere
  491. [23:19:31] <DiceMaid-9001> castfromhp, bite attacks at dmi, eli, pere: 12 [1d20=12], 15 [1d20=15], 14 [1d20=14]
  492. [23:19:49] <@castfromhp> 3#2d6+8+15
  493. [23:19:51] <DiceMaid-9001> castfromhp, 3#2d6+8+15: 27 [2d6=2,2], 30 [2d6=6,1], 28 [2d6=1,4]
  494. [23:20:52] <Dmitri> Dmi: 20/25 ouch
  495. [23:20:59] <Dmitri> I mean 25/45*
  496. [23:21:29] <Anatoly> 4 damage for Klink, 43/47
  497. [23:22:54] <Dmitri> 9 damage to Eli
  498. [23:23:35] <@castfromhp> Dmitri and Anatoly now!
  499. [23:24:04] <Anatoly> "It does not look to stop until we do something!" Anatoly attempts to pound the offending zubats!
  500. [23:24:16] * Dmitri flicks a knife at the nearest Zubat, eager to be rid of the pests.
  501. [23:24:22] <Anatoly> 1d20 pound
  502. [23:24:22] <DiceMaid-9001> Anatoly, pound: 7 [1d20=7]
  503. [23:24:25] <@castfromhp> hits
  504. [23:24:27] <Dmitri> 1d20 KNIVES
  505. [23:24:28] <DiceMaid-9001> Dmitri, KNIVES: 5 [1d20=5]
  506. [23:24:32] <Dmitri> Miss?
  507. [23:24:32] <@castfromhp> Also hits!
  508. [23:24:38] <@castfromhp> Wait what's the AC on knives?
  509. [23:24:46] <Dmitri> 4
  510. [23:24:50] <@castfromhp> Yup it hits.
  511. [23:24:50] <Anatoly> 1d12+6+6 attack
  512. [23:24:51] <DiceMaid-9001> Anatoly, attack: 24 [1d12=12]
  513. [23:24:59] <Dmitri> What is BP 4?
  514. [23:25:02] <Dmitri> Sorry
  515. [23:25:13] <@castfromhp> 1d8+5
  516. [23:25:14] <DiceMaid-9001> castfromhp, 1d8+5: 9 [1d8=4]
  517. [23:25:40] <Dmitri> 1d8+5+9 Attack
  518. [23:25:40] <DiceMaid-9001> Dmitri, Attack: 21 [1d8=7]
  519. [23:26:12] <Anatoly> (what does pound do now in terms of damage?)
  520. [23:26:18] <@castfromhp> The Zubat swarm seems hurt, but it also seems like it's better at taking singularly targeting attacks because of it being a swarm.
  521. [23:26:31] <@castfromhp> (pound is uh...I think the same 1d8+5 because it's a 40 power attack)

  542. [23:29:25] <Anatoly> (true)
  543. [23:29:30] <@castfromhp> Still seems to have the problem of being hard to target a swarm with a single-target attack...

  737. [00:35:06] <Dmitri> "When the it is loose enough, Eligor will dislodge the larger pieces of the ball"

  780. [00:45:43] <castfromhp> Along with that slides out...a Miltank and two Trubbish.
  781. [00:46:25] <Akilina> From the Katamari, THINGS are falling out of it! ... Well, more than whatever you might've knocked out of it already, that is... From it, a blanket or cape or something wrapped up around a person... No, wait, it flaps up, and is totally attached to something in a big poofy coat... Revealing Aki and her Aron falling out from the thing! They flip and flail
  782. [00:46:47] <Akilina> about kinda retardedly, but in the end the girl somehow ends up sticking her landing perfectly! ... Somehow.

  790. [00:48:48] <Akilina> She IS up. She stuck the landing! ... Even though her appearance, which is "looks like complete hell from having been rolling around inside a giant Katamari for god knows how long" would clearly suggest otherwise if you hadn't seen her land yourselves.
  791. [00:48:56] <Svetlana> 2d6+8+15

  797. [00:49:55] <Svetlana> (Uh sure truck)
  798. [00:50:19] <Akilina> "Found Comrade Ilya, though! In house in giant ball!"
  799. [00:50:24] <castfromhp> The truck loosens!

  803. [00:51:05] <Viktoriya> 2d10+3 Athletics...
  804. [00:51:06] <DiceMaid-9001> Viktoriya, Athletics...: 19 [2d10=9,7]
  805. [00:51:16] <Dmitri> Nice roll but will it be enough?
  806. [00:51:23] <castfromhp> You very very narrowly miss being flattened into the Katamari!
  807. [00:51:46] <castfromhp> Akilina
  808. [00:52:31] <Akilina> ... Hey. This might sound like a REALLY silly question, but... Does "the truck" count as a Held Item by the Katamari? Attempting ridiculous.
  809. [00:52:44] <Dmitri> I would have asked Shuppet for that
  810. [00:52:55] <Dmitri> '*knock off*
  811. [00:53:03] <castfromhp> 1d100 shenanigans?
  812. [00:53:04] <DiceMaid-9001> castfromhp, shenanigans?: 66 [1d100=66]
  813. [00:53:07] <castfromhp> Nope, sorry.
  814. [00:53:55] <Akilina> .. Damnit, was gonna try and Trick the house out. OH WHELP! She takes aim at the house with her camera, aaand...
  815. [00:54:14] <Akilina> 1d20 With a flash, a pulse comes out from it, which blows past the Pokemon and goes forth towards the truck! Confusion!
  816. [00:54:15] <DiceMaid-9001> Akilina, With a flash, a pulse comes out from it, which blows past the Pokemon and goes forth towards the truck! Confusion!: 20 [1d20=20]

  818. [00:54:42] <Akilina> 2d8+18 You mean i couldn't have gotten this two turns ago? ;~;
  819. [00:54:43] <DiceMaid-9001> Akilina, You mean i couldn't have gotten this two turns ago?: 27 [2d8=5,4]
  820. [00:55:18] <Akilina> You can see a roll of fat and the udders on the Miltank flop about as the pulse rushes past it.
  821. [00:55:24] <Dmitri> :/
  822. [00:56:10] <castfromhp> Annnd that does it! The half of the truck falls off and the Katamari slows and slumps to a stop. The wild pokemon around look around, bewildered, and then regain their bearings. The Miltank starts grazing.
  823. [00:56:54] <castfromhp> Also falling out of the Katamari are a geodude, a mass of joltiks (the fluffy yellow blob), two whismur, and a hoothoot.
  824. [00:57:13] <Akilina> And the OTHER thing?
  825. [00:57:22] <castfromhp> A large shadow falls over the scene, and you see a GIANT figure rise over the horizon.
  826. [00:57:27] <castfromhp> (which other thing?)
  827. [00:57:30] <Anatoly> ".... Is it over?" Anatoly asked, catching his breath while surveying the damage.
  828. [00:58:01] <Akilina> ... Nevermind.
  829. [00:58:03] <castfromhp> (you silly bother the house already fell out)
  830. [00:58:15] <Akilina> (I didn't SEE that.)
  831. [00:58:20] <castfromhp> "OH THIS IS A MOST FABULOUS KATAMARI!" The figure reaches down with a hand to pick up the stationary sphere.
  832. [00:58:23] <castfromhp> He looks like this: Annnd that does it! The half of the truck falls off
  833. [00:58:25] <castfromhp> er
  834. [00:58:25] <castfromhp> shit
  835. [00:58:29] <castfromhp> THIS: http://i.imgur.com/NbQge.png
  836. [00:58:47] <Svetlana> (Cast well done)
  837. [00:58:49] <castfromhp> "WE MUST ADD THIS NEW STAR TO THE SKY IMMEDIATELY!"
  838. [00:58:57] <Viktoriya> "..."
  839. [00:59:42] <castfromhp> The Zam of All Cosmos shakes the Katamari until a little Ralts with green cylinders on the sides of its head falls out into his palm. He takes it and the Katamari and begins walking off, past the plateau towards god knows where.
  840. [01:00:08] <Akilina> . . . *Snap snap snap snap snap* That guy gets the everloving fuck of photos taken out of him!
  841. [01:00:20] * Dmitri looks at Eligor and then the Shuppet.
  842. [01:00:30] <Stali> "...must drink more vodka."
  843. [01:00:36] * Anatoly checks what remains of the katamari mess, taking into account the things they are supposed to look for.
  844. [01:00:39] <castfromhp> He shakes it again and a poor little man flies out and flops onto the grass like a ragdoll at Aki's feet.
  845. [01:00:47] <Anatoly> Brothers, check
  846. [01:00:56] <Anatoly> Ilya the medicine man, check
  847. [01:00:58] <Dmitri> "he list of things I have heard /now/ contains everything."
  848. [01:01:02] <Dmitri> The*
  849. [01:01:23] <Anatoly> supplies, check
  850. [01:01:30] <Anatoly> comrade Mishin?
  851. [01:01:31] * Dmitri enters what remains of the van and tries to see what he can salvage.
  852. [01:01:49] * Anatoly checks if comrade Mishin is in the remains of the van.
  853. [01:01:53] * Svetlana goes over and looks at the Pokemon that feel out. "Strange"
  854. [01:02:26] * Akilina drops to her feet once the King of Katamygodwhatthehellwasinthosekebabsbesidesmarkings is far, FAR gone... "Are you alright, Comrade?" ... This be Arty, or some OTHER guy?
  855. [01:02:53] <castfromhp> The supplies seem in order for the most part! There's food, pokeballs, all that you were asked to retrieve. Enough that you won't be eating cold soup and bread for the rest of the month.
  856. [01:03:00] <castfromhp> It is indeed Arty.
  857. [01:03:09] <Akilina> to her knees** ... To talk to the guy and make sure he's not dead or nothin'.
  858. [01:03:11] <castfromhp> He is sobbing uncontrollably.
  859. [01:03:12] * Svetlana glances at Dmitri and heals herself up. "Who needs healing"
  860. [01:03:30] * Dmitri waves her away, "I will be fine. Save your supplies on those who need it more."
  861. [01:03:36] <Svetlana> "This is no longer a battlefield and I have enough supplies"
  862. [01:03:41] <Anatoly> "I will appreciate some medical attention, if you have enough."
  863. [01:03:43] <castfromhp> Mishin herself is stuff head-first into a crate of oranges.
  864. [01:03:48] <castfromhp> *stuffed
  865. [01:03:56] <castfromhp> Or well, a woman is. You assume it's Mishin.
  866. [01:03:57] * Dmitri reaches in and helps pull her out.
  867. [01:04:04] <Anatoly> "But those who were in the stuff-ball first."
  868. [01:04:05] <Dmitri> roughly
  869. [01:04:06] <castfromhp> She's very much unconscious, but still breathing.
  870. [01:04:21] <Dmitri> "Like her." he says, pointing at the woman.
  871. [01:04:21] * Svetlana wasn't actually going to help Dmitri, but doesn't vocalize that! She does saunter over to Anatoly and sprays him with some medicine
  872. [01:05:12] <castfromhp> Annnd that's pretty much a wrap guys. Thanks for playing. Feel free to keep RPing if you want. If you want to capture any of the pokemon around, just ask. Rewards are up on the game page.
  873. [01:05:22] <Viktoriya> She returns Lockjaw to his pokeball. "I think you've had enough flopping around in a blizzard for one day..."
  874. [01:05:31] <Dmitri> I think I want the shuppet
  875. [01:05:42] <Akilina> "Calm down, Artyom... You are safe now." She tries hugging him or something to comfort him a bit. "All is over. Giant ball of crazy's gone now!"
  876. [01:05:56] <Dmitri> (oh, we're still going for a bit)
  877. [01:06:12] * Anatoly doesn't think he saw any pokemon of his interest... yet
  878. [01:06:19] <Dmitri> "You did well Eligor, a job befitting a knight."
  879. [01:06:30] <castfromhp> "I don't wanna be a star." Artyom is staring into forever, at the path the Zam of All Cosmos took.
  880. [01:07:08] <Anatoly> He thanks Svetlana for the attention and proceeds to work in recovery. He calls Peredach to act as a signal, taking up into the air and charging brightly to get some attention from the camp.
  881. [01:09:45] <Akilina> ... Well, given the context of CRAZY ZAM... "Man who make star's gone now. Like said before, all will be okay!"
  882. [01:12:06] * Svetlana goes and does those things that happen
