- Something went bonk in the next room.
- Jevil slipped out of bed. "Who sounds there?" He rolled to the door. "A Seam, Seam? A Lancer-Prancer?" The door went open, and he popped out.
- This was someone new. Bone white, but with dark clothing. Tall, but hunched down. He had his hands stuck through a window, inexplicably placed at an angle in mid-air.
- "An in-vader, in-raider?" He tapped his shoulder.
- "Oh. Excuse me," the man slowly said, enunciating each word. He turned around. "Can I help you?"
- "Who are you, what do you?"
- "I am. A technician of sorts. I am maintaining the integrity of this realm."
- "But not in the court, you're not," Jevil retorted. "Not a king, not a mage, not a general or a colonel."
- "My work. Is somewhat ethereal. It is necessary, but only visible when it fails."
- "I can see it now. Then it's failing, blundering, breaking?"
- "It is a routine issue. I need to re-calibrate the projection from the other world."
- "And if you don't?"
- "Well." The man scratched his head. "This world would become untethered. It would spin loose. It would be. An unpleasant time."
- "Vee-hee! Can I be of aid?"
- He nodded. "I do believe you can. Could you keep open this gate while I make rearrangements?"
- Jevil extended his legs and grasped it with both hands while the man went to work.
- The view was very, very interesting. He saw games, and toys, and things he recognized, yet different. There were sixteen Ponmen, four Kings, one Seam. Even Jevil's self was present.
- Very, very interesting.
- "There. You can release now."
- Jevil let go, and the window shrank away.
- "Thank you. I will be around."
- The man walked to the stair, then was no longer there.
- Jevil was left alone with his thoughts. He had gained a whole new perspective.
