Ascalon Becoming a Mentor

[17:25] The Oscuri looked upon the two lads. One a young sapling related to their love and the other a stranger from the far south-lands. They each shared three things in common, each was a Drakan, each sought to learn from them, and each would suffer for that desire.

Cold emerald hues settled upon the James, measuring the lad. Looked to be just entering the prime of his life. Yet, they looked to have lived a life of comfort. Idly the Zanders recalled themselves at that age.

Flashes of the burning buildings, the fighting in the streets, the unyielding pain of mutilation. It'd been his first time upon the field of war, a raid to protect his home. To punish those who'd do it harm. Yet, it'd only been more of what they'd grown used to. The rigors of Dawn had threatened his life many times before that.

Their gaze then shifted to Makaveli. Now where James had entered the spring of his youth. This lad was not yet out of the fall. Would they suffer a life-time of pain? No, they'd grow within Aurum. The horrors that had been inflicted upon themselves at that age would be spared this youth.

So it was that Ascalon entered into the place he'd never been before. The teacher, the mentor, a flash of Freya Vishkar the greatest Oscuri of Dawn flickered in his sight. She'd appeared so stern, so wise, now? He'd have to live up to that legacy.

"If you're afraid of pain, of loss, of defeat. Leave now and don't waste my time." It seemed that without the presence of Arlei their personality had hardened. "If you seek to grow stronger, to become a champion of the code within Agartha then stay."

A hand came to rest upon the hilt of their chain mace. Taking a breath they'd delve into the gist of what it meant to be a Knight.

"Arlei is right, the Legion of Daybreak is gone. It was before either of your time regardless. I fought in the wars as a Paladin the highest position of martial status within the organization. Therefor as a Paladin still I shall forge a new sect of Knights. You both will serve as my test. To see if I may fix the flaws of this world through teaching."

They'd look to the moon for a moment, a swift look of contemplation crossed their features. "Though... For now let's see how you two comprehend. Listen to the truth and understand it."

"The world is flawed. It's corrupted by the short-sighted, the fearful, the greedy, the honorless. When you see the marks of death upon others you see the taint of this world's flaws. You witness the corruption of man into monster." As they spoke they'd take a deep inhal of their pipe. Exhaling an earthy smelling puff of cloud towards the two squires.

"We must change this, to do this words can have an effect. However, their is only one true language that all understand. Violence, though there is nothing wrong with this. We must use our power to change the world into a paradise."

A hand came up to run thorugh their hair as they thought for a moment. "Death is not something we as Knights should fear. It is merely a gate-way unto the second life promised those who seek to bring about paradise."

A flush of reika coursed through his veins as the words of Azrael echoed from his lips. Though this wasn't just about the faith he'd grown up within. Now he was already shifting it from his ancestors. They'd not understood truly that the world could be changed through great acts of heroism just as much as acts of depravity.

"Do you understand? The world is flawed, we must fight to change it, without fear of our own demise. A Knight is tireless, self-less, zealous in their actions. Save the innocent, slay the wicked, enforce order upon the world."

"Uphold the virtues of a Knight. Valor, Faith, Nobility, and Justice."

As they finished they'd look between the lads. "If you've questions ask, if you've second thoughts speak them."

[17:33] James amazed with Lady Ascalon words almost tear up. He remember losing his parents, was a just vaguely flashback, and losing his beloved brother Karma Lewis, that struck a heavy blow on James heart he slayed his brother... he was corrupt and was impossible to save him that day. But Ascalon words inspired him... maybe just maybe he could change the word, the people with his own power. After thinking he says:

"Lady Ascalon, I've been trough some... stuff, im here to learn, im ready, no questions. Indeed I understand, I felt on my own skin what the world is and I feel with your guidance I can help you to change the world m'lady."

[17:49] The young Drakon stood strong as Ascalon informed him of the state of the world. Makaveli took each word they spoke with absolute solidarity and nodded in correspondence with each point that they outlined.

In the drakon's mind, Ascalon had made a damn good point. Makaveli thought of his own upbringing as a slum rat and the things he had seen as just a young child. If he could do anything to change that world, then he was more than willing to make the sacrifices to see it done. The new life Arlei and Aurum had given him, inspired hope into the Drakon. A hope that he would make sure the rest of the world would be able to take part in.


When the Oscuri had finished, Makaveli thrust himself unto one knee and slammed his fist to his chest. "I swear upon my sister's name that I will uphold the virtues of a Knight. In these responsibilities, I understand." He did not notice until his hand had made contact with his chest, but his heart was racing.

As he rose, Makaveli imagined that he now also carried the burden of righting the world, a responsibility that he would also begin to carry. He paused to calm his nerves, before looking to his new teacher. "How can I help change the world?"

[17:54] "Then consider yourself both my disciples, Squires of Ascalon Zanders. Paladin of the Dawn."

The veteran nodded to the two youths. This felt right to teach the help those who'd come next grow. The Oscuri had begun to fear what could come of the world with his peoples fate in the balance.

"Now, both of you tell me of your magic proficiencies. We will have some martial training once I know that. After-all if you've to use violence to make change you best be good at it."

[17:58] Hearing his new master James answers him:

"I use wind magic just to make my target slower and easier to catch."

[17:59] James Strider says, "I use it to pass time too"
[17:59] James Strider says, "Nothing much"
[18:00] Ascalon Zanders asks, "Is wind the exten of your magic?"
[18:00] James Strider says, "It helps me to fight"
[18:01] James Strider says, "With my Garuda style"
[18:03] Ascalon Zanders says, "Hmm, understood."
[18:06] Makaveli stretched his wings, and concentrated a small ball of fire into his palm. "Well besides being a drakanite, I'm pretty good at throwing around some flames."

He opened his other palm and formed a small tornado before presenting it to Ascalon. "I've also started to pick up wind magic, but I'm not so good at it as I am with fire...But I definitely plan on making my use of wind magic more versatile, like that of fire."

The young drakon dispersed the two magics in his palm and clasped his palms together, releasing them after a few seconds of crushing to reveal a small sparking object held between his hands. "I've also started to dabble with this weird crystal magic that I saw a way stronger person using when they were in a sparring match with my sister."
