  1. Plot:
  2. Every hour of every day, a mysterious channel that few know about airs a program named Dead Air. The show is a surreal, otherworldly obstacle course where human souls, stolen from their lives and trapped in inhuman bodies, fight against monsters and traps in order to reach the end and win their freedom. The obstacle course is deadly, and when a contestant meets their end, they are simply revived and must race through the death trap once more.
  3.
  4. The show is hosted by a mysterious entity that works behind the scenes to prevent anyone from winning - including taking away important memories from the trapped souls. After seemingly an eternity of being trapped, the contestants have given up entirely, but a new arrival may spark the will to escape. If the "Stars" of this nightmare wish to truly escape, they must work together and regain their memories.
  5.
  6. Setting - Dead Air:
  7. Dead Air is an other world, a pocket dimension, another universe, it doesn't matter what kind, but it exists entirely within a degraded and forgotten television channel. The strange entity Your Host has control of nearly everything in the realm, and it has bent the space into what it considers the ultimate entertainment death trap. It has twisted the remnants of the channel's programming into areas for the Dead Air Stars to perform, filling them with deadly monsters and traps that ensure the Stars will remain in a continual loop of life and death.
  8.
  9. Outside of the "Episodes" that make up a "Show" of Dead Air, there is the Green Room, where the Stars live when not performing. As none of them require sleep, food, or water, they can live there forever, haunted by their own thoughts. A crew of strange, but somewhat helpful, beings make up the crew of Dead Air, though they are incapable of helping the Stars escape... not that they would want to help them with that in the first place.
  10.
  11. The "Episodes" that Stars perform in resemble the corpses of television shows, taking specific themes from old programs and twisting them into deadly parodies of what they once were. There are a number of these, and which ones a Star will have to endure changes each time a "Show" starts, so the trapped souls will never be able to predict what will happen. As the Episodes continue, they get stranger and stranger, turning more and more nightmarish.
  12.
  13. In addition to Your Host's dangerous obstacles, Static has been taking over parts of the world, bending and degrading whatever it touches. The Static is most likely the world of Dead Air starting to fall apart, but Your Host has gladly added it to their repertoire of tricks, using its spontaneous and unpredictable appearances to give the Stars even more trouble. However, his control of it is... loose, and seems to be getting worse with time, and it sometimes providing rewards for the Stars, makes it uncertain if the Static has a mind of its own.
  14.
  15. When an enemy or item is destroyed, the Static will swallow them up and leave behind Static Shards, which are raw materials that can be shaped into elements of the Dead Air realm if given to those who know how to use it.

  44. Other Characters:
  45. Your Host (They/Them/It):
  46. Your Host is a powerful entity that controls the entirety of the Dead Air realm. They take on the form of a writhing television test pattern, fractured around the edges as if viewed through broken glass. They also control a stiff, mannequin like body that can barely perform human-like actions. Your Host considers themselves the greatest entertainer of all time, with Dead Air being the greatest piece of media ever created in their mind. As such, their ego is enormous, looking down on the Stars, taking every chance they can to mock and belittle the souls through their futile attempts to escape. This ego prevents Your Host from realizing that their beloved creation is falling apart at the seams, and that no one watches the shows he puts on. If the Stars wish to escape, they must confront them at the end of the show.
  47.
  48. Set Designer (He/Him):
  49. The Set Designer is one of the crew that works on Dead Air from behind the scenes - in this case, literally, as the Set Designer lives on the edges of the areas that the Stars must journey through, putting them together as the show continues. He can be found in the Green Room, underneath a false floor tile. He is a rather large spider-like creature, nearly all black, with human-like limbs and beady white eyes. Talking to him can get you hints towards "secret" scenes he has prepared, and paying him in Static Shards can guarantee access to certain types of areas during the next Show. The Set Designer has a large ego, and doesn't particularly care for the Stars, but is willing to work with them in order to show the secret scenes he has prepared.
  50.
  51. Costumes (She/Her)
  52.
  53. Deewreckter (It):
  54. A strange member of the Dead Air crew that does not seem to do anything. Its head is a clap board, with its name scrawled on it, connected to a round body by the lower left corner. It scuttles around on four stiff, wooden legs. Deewreckter talks about topics that are so strange that even the other crew members find them weird. In fact, it feels a lot like Deewreckter is talking right past you most of the time...
  55.
  56. Hand of Static (It):
