It Does Not Have To Be This Way

The sun shines brightly through the windows in a comfy room. The slightly opened blue curtains helps the sunrays shine to the room as the members of EYES are spending their quiet morning together.

Marcus and Joe are eating eggs and rice while they watch Oslow and Asa Harukawa play on the playstation together. A fighting game called “Worm Fighter”.

Oslow scratches his head. “Which one should I choose? Nora or Diva?”

Harukawa shrugs. “Ehh up to you, and this Neko Arc has like, she can clone herself so she is pretty powerful. I’m going to choose her.”

“How about this Jellyfish fellow? Is he good?”

“A bad dude, why not go random.” Asa smirks.

Oslow hovers over to the random pick and it lands on Cerberus. “She looks pretty scary.”

“Hmmm sort of, stage select is Clarendon High Rooftop.” Asa stretches her back.


Kuro is looking out the window, enjoying the sunlight. The sun also shines on Mister Amano as he sits on a wooden table in front of a table. He sips on his coffee while he reads a blue book. The wooden door opens and three exhausted women comes inside the room.

Mister Amano greets the three. “So how did it go?” While Kuro stands on his shoulders.
“Lucky has gone off again on her own, NO COOPERATION!” Arcis huffs.
Eliza pleads to lucky. “Lucky, we are a team now and-”

“Whatever, I’ll just-” Lucky shrugs while drinking water on her cup.

Mister Amano steps in before a confrontation erupts. “One at a time now, tell me exactly what happened.”

 Lucky throws her cup away and it crashes to the floor. “It wasn’t my fault that-”

“It was!” Eliza interrupts.

Lucky narrows her eyes and tries to continue. “Not my fa-”

“Bleh, bleh, bleh!” Eliza sticks her tongue out.

Immediately, Lucky’s blood boils and she clenches her fist. “Ohh! I’ll tear you apart, bolt by bolt!”

Marcus holds Lucky from behind, while Takashi on the other hand is holding Eliza back.

“Quit it you two.” Takashi can barely hold Eliza back and Marcus is not doing any better either.

Mister Amano tries to deescalate the situation again. “Everyone let us all take a moment to calm down. I’m sure-”

“Bleh, bleh, bleh!” Eliza and Lucky barks in unison.

“Let them fight.” Kenji enters the room and towers over everybody, his tone is calm but firm. “Alright you two, If you want to fight then do it in the dojo. Don’t fight here.”

The two women look at Kenji then back to each other.
“Fine!” Lucky barks.
“Affirmative!” Eliza hisses.



The sunlight shimmers through the open windows of the dojo. It gives a natural light and allows one to appreciate the wooden beauty inside the dojo. The sunrays lends a calming scene where it not for two women standing on opposite ends, glaring at each other.
The members of EYES, namely Kenji, Takashi, Arcis, Marcus, Kuro, Safie, and others are all standing by to watch.

The two women walk closer to each other and meet each other in the middle.
“It’s not too late to turn back now.” Lucky taunts.
“I do not plan on backing out. Regrettably, we must fight.” Eliza replies levelly.

Eliza lets out a right jab towards Lucky’s face but Lucky just moves her head sidewards while she lets out a counter right hook, her punch strikes true and hits Eliza square in her jaw. Eliza does not seem to be fazed by it and keeps her momentum with a counter of her left hook, it connects to Lucky’s jaw but she just shrugs it off too.

Each punch makes a resounding BOOM! That resonates across the dojo. The two women exchange brutal punches but Lucky lands more hits and deflects punches better. Eliza uses her right leg to kick but Lucky just grabs her feet mid-air.
A slot opens on Eliza’s left leg and a mechanical thruster activates and she kicks lucky with blinding speed and hits Lucky on her head but she does not even budge one bit.
Eliza’s right leg, which Lucky is holding, activates its thruster and Lucky loses her grip on it.

Eliza somersaults backwards to gain some distance and they charge each other again.

The two headbutts each other. Their visions are hazy but Lucky has more experience, so she reaches out in front of her and manages to grab Eliza’s hair.
Lucky immediately guts Eliza in the stomach with furious punches, 1 punch, two- no four punches!
Eliza can’t escape while Lucky holds her hair! OH! WHAT A DIRTY FIGHTER!

Jetpacks sprout from Eliza’s back and she takes Lucky along with her into the air. She hugs Lucky and before her opponent can react, Eliza chokeslams Lucky into the ground.

The dojo’s floor crumples beneath them. Eliza disengages and uses her jetpacks to quickly gain some distance. Lucky stands up and dusts off her outfit.
Door-like hatches open in Eliza’s arms and chainsaws appears on each of her arms and attaches to her wrist. The door-like hatches close and Eliza’s chainsaws whir to life, Its sharp teeth threatening to slice anything that stands in its way.
Eliza uses her thrusters to quickly charge but Lucky just stands still. Eliza swings her left chainsaw and strikes but Lucky just grabs the chainsaw using her bare hands, she does not seem to be bothered by the rotating blades of the chainsaw that is constantly trying but failing to shred her hands.

Eliza’s eyes go wide as she tries to remove her chainsaw. She swings her right chainsaw but again Lucky grabs the chainsaw by the blade and lifts Eliza up in the air.
“What’s the matter? I didn’t know that bucketheads feel fear!”

Eliza seems hurt by that and her eyes start to water as tears threaten to pour down. Lucky sees this but tries to ignore it.
Lucky uses her left hand and delivers a devastating blow to Eliza’s stomach but before the blow was struck. Eliza’s Persona, a man with chainsaw for a head, suddenly appears in front of Eliza. The man blocks lucky’s punch using his body. But the punch was still very strong and both Arnstrom and Eliza flies through the air, Arnstrom vanishes while Eliza rolls across the other end of the dojo.

Lucky does not give her time to rest, she charges and leaps through the air with her right fist ready for a haymaker. Eliza quickly gets up and puts her chainsaws in a cross formation. Lucky’s punch connects to Eliza’s chainsaw block with a resounding boom! The ground beneath starts to crack from Lucky’s mighty blows.

Lucky steadies herself on the floor and continues her flurry of punches. Eliza drops her left arm on the floor and purposefully lets her chainsaw slice through the floor. She starts to walk in a circle while her chainsaw rips through the floor like hot knife through butter.

Eliza uses only her right chainsaw to block Lucky’s punches and any punch that goes through is blocked by Arnstrom. As Lucky’s punches almost dents Eliza’s chainsaw. Eliza completes her circular run and she jumps away from Lucky.

“What’s the matter tin can? Ready to give up!?” Tears start to swell in Lucky’s eyes.
Eliza wipes off her tears. “Look down, small brain!”

Lucky angrily looks down and sees the perfect circle around her feet.

With a shout, Eliza kicks the circular floor. Almost immediately, it implodes upon itself and sinks below the dojo’s floor. Taking Lucky along with it as she shouts in fear.


On the side where the rest of the group are standing watch. Safie tugs on Marcus’ shoulder, silently asking for him to stop the fight. Marcus just shakes his head. “They both have to see this through, for each of their own sake.”

Back to where the fighting is, Eliza taunts “It looks like you have hit rock bottom... again.”
Lucky jumps off from the rubble and stands on the dojo floor. Her chin lowered and fixing Eliza with a frightening glare. “You don’t know me, tin can!”

 “I’ll show you failure!” Lucky cracks her knuckles and a small dark spirit appears on her right shoulder. Her fists are engulfed in bright, blue flames.

“Did I struck a nerve, failed honor student?” Eliza raises her nose in disgust. “Arnstrom, to me!” Arnstrom appears beside Eliza, chainsaws on both of his hands at the ready. Eliza brandishes her chainsaws again and readies her jetpacks. Her battered right-handed chainsaw still works even though it is dented. Her chainsaws are engulfed in bright red flames.


Two heartbeat passes. Both women moves each other’s right foot forward and with a shout they both charge at each other and meet again in the middle.

Eliza swings her left chainsaw but Lucky blocks it again using her hands. There is a shallow cut on her hands where the chainsaw sliced her, Lucky looks at the wound briefly while Eliza prepares another slice. Lucky deftly dodges the slice and uppercuts Eliza on the stomach and she doubles over.

Lucky is about to deliver another punch but stops when she sees Eliza gasping in pain. Lucky pushes Eliza away and the android falls to the ground. “Get up!”

Eliza tries to get up but electricity sparks briefly around Eliza’s neck, she spasms and she falls on her butt again. She activates her jetpacks and quickly closes the distance between them. Eliza swings her left chainsaw but stops an inch on Lucky’s neck. Both of their eyes grow wide in shock as they both stop for awhile. Eliza pulls her left chainsaw away and retracts it.

Eliza rears her left arm back, poorly telegraphing a punch. Lucky is no better either, also pulling her right arm back. Both women simultaneously punch each other in the face but this time, they felt the pain and double over. Another hit and they both fall sideways to the ground.

Exhausted and out of breath, they stare at each other.

Lucky starts to giggle and Eliza giggles too. The two women both laugh. They crawl towards each other and help each other get up.


The two women wrap their arms around each other’s shoulders in a sisterly manner. “You wanna have something to drink?” Lucky smiles genuinely.

“Oh yes, I do not need to drink but I would like to drink some milk.” Eliza smiles back.

“I was thinking about a beer.” Lucky smirks mischievously.

“I could try that but I do not like to smoke. Please do not make me smoke.” Eliza hesitantly replies.

“Don’t worry, if you don’t want to then I won’t force you.”

The two women turn away from the group but only to find the herculean Kenji towering over the two of them. “Well I’m glad that you two have made up. Now I think that it’s time for you both to fix the dojo.” He does not seem angry, instead his tone suggests that he is relieved that this fight ended on good terms. He has seen many people become friends after a fight and he’s glad that the two can become good friends and maybe there is a chance for Lucky Chance to have some friends and maybe find some peace in her life.

He looks at the two women again, battered and bruised from their fighting. “Alright, as soon as we get you both fixed. Then you will start with the repairs.”

Mister Amano approaches them as Kuro heals the two. “Don’t worry about the money, I got it.”

“Sounds great.” Lucky massages her shoulders.
Eliza bows slightly. “Thank you, Kenji. Thank you, Mister Amano.”

“No need to thank me. I’m just glad that you two didn’t die.” Mister Amano smiles. “Now whose hungry? I have dinner ready.”
