Public Appearance: Hibari has dark skin and big, light pink eyes the color of coral alongside a beauty mark atop her left cheek. Her hair is a shiny jet black which is loosely wavy and reaches down to her knees. She wears a simple sky-blue blouse over a white, long-sleeved button-up shirt. She also wears a long formal skirt which reaches down to her thighs and a matching blue tie around her neck. Shinjiru has baby blue flats paired with white socks patterned with hearts that reach her shins. For accessories, she has pastel yellow pearl earrings and matching yellow circular sunglasses.

Public Backstory: In her free time, as she grew up, Shinjiru worked alongside her sisters in order to support her family with their financial troubles. The first job she was able to land was as a carhop for a well-known diner in her town, which she excelled at. After a few years of practicing and perfecting her waiting technique, she was tipped by the owner of a dance hall a few blocks away. The same woman returned to the restaurant a few more times, before generously offering Shinjiru a position as a hostess at her business, where Hibari then accepted her next job. She went on to host guests with her roller skating expertise, which gave her a running start ahead of her co-workers. Self-proclaiming herself as the ‘Ultimate Hostess’ as her customer reviews soared, the title managed to stick with Hibari throughout her experiences. Hope’s Peak soon learned of her success, leading them to scout her during one of her shifts.

Personality: In general, Hibari is a rather extroverted individual. Being an above-average student with lots of vibrancy, she strives for anything extra: her main motivation being validation among her peers and instructors. Eccentric but attentive, she tends to influence and probe acquaintances for information, occasionally leading her to gossip to others about certain people she’s gained intel on. Even so, she’s intelligent and observant, able to pick up on others moods and therefore adjust herself accordingly. Despite her cunning compulsivity, Shinjiru can easily become vulnerable and genuine herself if someone is especially insistent. While Hibari puts on a humble facade, she has a difficult time taking criticism with grace, leading her to take out her anger in other ways as to avoid damaging her reputation among others.


Full Backstory: (Not including her acceptance or talent-building, due to that being covered in the public backstory.) Being born into a family consisting of three other sisters, an overworked mom, and a deadbeat dad, Hibari was hardly shown any kind of affections as a child. From a young age, she had to fight for her mother’s attention, but with little avail. Due to hardly being acknowledged, she turned to others outside her home to fill the gaping void.

Doing her best to outshine her peers, be it work-wise or assisting with anything she could manage, she soon became a teacher's pet: a young apprentice to those in power in return for kindness and gratitude. And while this is exactly what she had wanted, Hibari found herself beginning to be loathed by her peers due to being chosen favorite over the majority by educators. The praise soon felt redundant.

Deciding to switch courses, Hibari abandoned her habits and began new ones, beginning to attempt socializing with her fellow classmates and seek validation there. Unfortunately, her reputation preceded her, as they hardly wanted to willingly conversate. In order to combat this are therefore be heard, she began making up rumors about other students and preaching them as the truth, slowly making her lies a forefront of topics and slipping her way into cliques with new information.

As her popularity advanced, so did her skills in manipulation. Trust among classmates became quicker to gain, such as doing small favors in exchange for conversation, and making it that much easier to make them spill their guts out after only a tad of effort. Even so, she still finds her life unfulfilling. A life built on a foundation of lies is hardly satisfying in the long run.
