  1. Yuri and Anon go to see Fantasia at the Hall
  2.
  3. The breeze was just right to blow away the muggy heat of the day. You had been worried that you were going to soak your nice shirt, which would have been embarrassing for Yuri. “You look ravishing by the way Hun.” You said to your now blushing girlfriend. “T-thank you, Anon… I’m not pretty though. I’m plain at best.”
  4.
  5. You put an arm around her, bringing her closer to you, another flush to her face rising. “If you are plain, then I must be in heaven, because I haven’t seen anyone more beautiful than you.” She made a strange squeaking noise, and then leaned into you, the soft fabric of her tight dress doing wonders on you.
  6.
  7. You were just one of the many couples tonight. The long awaited live performance of Fantasia was here for tonight only. You had spent 2 month’s salary on this show, and by God you were going to make sure Yuri enjoyed it. You had even borrowed money from your parents so you could treat her out to dinner afterwards. Your hand in her gloved one, for she wore those long opera gloves because of her “Birthmarks” that you knew to be scars, you led her through the crowd, much younger than usual.
  8.
  9. Fantasia was a kid’s movie, but if the kid was into pretty orchestral music. Well, Yuri wanted to see it live, and you had kept her from seeing the original Fantasia to keep from spoiling it for her. She was going to have a wonderful time. You hadn’t told any of the club members about this, so they wouldn’t try to spoil your nice evening out of jealousy or something. No, it was just you and your date, who was uncomfortable being around so many people.
  10.
  11. “Anon…” “Not now, Yuri. I am getting the tickets.” You continued to ignore her pulling on your jacket until she said, “Anon, my family has box seats. You didn’t have to spend $120 dollars on me, I get in for free…”
  12.
  13. Fuck. After selling off the tickets to another hapless couple who had forgotten their own, you had made back $100. Can’t get it all back, but it would have to do. There was only one last thing to do before the curtain rose.
  14.
  15. Obviously, the bouquet of roses went over well with your girlfriend, who was blushing so hard the people below could mistake her for an emergency exit. The conductor introduced the orchestra after a stirring rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner, and then the show began.
  16. On a large screen Fantasia was projected, little fairies leaving their dew upon the plants to the sounds of Beethoven Symphony no. 5. “Fantasia was a bunch of Disney artists drawing a picture of what they thought was going on in the music.” Yuri yuried in response. Too cute!
  17.
  18. The Pastoral Symphony was the best, with the centaurs and Bacchus. You kept stealing wistful looks at all the couples and their kids, the cherubs too. You had never taken that much notice of them before, but with Yuri, you couldn’t help but wonder…
  19.
  20. “Aren’t those kids cute, Yuri?”
  21.
  22. “Yeah. I think they are.”
  23.
  24. “I hope I have some one day.
  25.
  26. “Me too, Anon. You’d be really… wait what?” She hid her face behind her gloved hands. You took them in yours and asked. “I would be really what?”
  27.
  28. After a moment, she looked at you between her fingers. Her eyes were so deep and beautiful. She went wide eyed and hid behind her fingers again. “You’d be a really good mmph.” You pulled her hands from her face for a second time. “I would be a really good what?”
  29.
  30. Backlit by plants dancing to the Nutcracker, a furious orchestra, and her face lit from her own blush, she said one of the most important sentences that you had ever heard. “I think you would make a really great Dad, Anon. M-maybe… I could be a good enough wife for you?”
  31.
  32. You kissed her deeply and told her that “you will make a great mother of our children. W-when the time is right, of course, ehehe. I love you Yuri. Even for your scars, both inside and out, for your stutter, for everything. I couldn’t imagine anyone else better to… spend a life with.” You finished as the Nutcracker came to a close. You couldn’t hear her reply in the applause, but you were sure it was something along the lines of “Y-you too…”
  33.
  34. You spent the rest of the evening holding one another, bare hand in bare hand. You laughed together at the hippo ballerinas in the Dances of the Hours, nearly were strangled when the Firebird came to life, so surprised she was. Finally, the last keys of Rhapsody in Blue leaving you exhausted, you took your girlfriend, maybe fiancée is a better term? Your sweetheart, outside in the now chilly air.
  35.
  36. “Your gloves, Yuri. Did you leave them?” She looked down despondently at her own arms, thin, pale scars on thin paler skin. “I guess I did.”
  37.
  38. “You want me to go back for them?” She shook her head. “For the first time, I don’t think I need them. I-I don’t care who stares at me, as long as I have you.” You squeezed her hand, and let her float on Cloud Nine, smelling pizza in the winds of fortune.
  39.
  40. An auburn-haired girl watched from a block away as your car turned onto the street. “Anon always was a sap writer. I guess that’s it for me.” She laughed softly and went on her way.
