Hero Grandfather Leaps In Front Of Speeding Train To Save Baby Girl

At Wentworthville station in Sydney, Australia, a loving grandfather risked his life by jumping into the path of a speeding freight train to save the life of his 18-month-old granddaughter. This CCTV footage shows this dramatic moment.

The baby's mother, grandfather and grandmother didn't realize that the platform had a slight slant, so her stroller rolled away from them and crashed face-first onto the train tracks.

When his little granddaughter was at the danger zone, the 62-year-old immediately ran and jumped onto the tracks to lift the child and stroller onto the platform to her mother and grandmother, as a train raced towards him.

The heroic grandfather was unable to climb back up onto the platform himself after saving his granddaughter, as the train sounded its horn in warning, he sprinted for his life down the tracks and fortunately, he made it to the top of the platform and out of the way of the train to save his life.

Speaking with Nine News, Acting inspector Paul Reynolds, said:

"Baby – very lucky. Grandfather – just as lucky!"

The toddler suffered cuts to her forehead and knees, as well as some swelling, but that she was quickly released from hospital, according to a statement issued by the police.
