  1. Pokemon Thoughts:
  2.
  3. Overall I thought the game was amazing and if you are even remotely interested you should check it out. With that being said there were many aspects of the game that were not very good or just outright bad.
  4.
  5. SPOILERS...DUH!
  6.
  7. Positives:
  8. The gameplay was fantastic, and everything you would expect from a Pokemon game.
  9.
  10. My favorite aspect would be how you can see the Pokemon on the main world rather than random battles in the grass, just like in the Let's Go games. I think this is a welcome change and something the series needed. not only does it help when looking for certain Pokemon, you can avoid them altogether if you want.
  11.
  12. I loved is that they brought back the gyms that they abandoned in the 7th gen. that is why i could never finish sun/moon
  13.
  14. I enjoy that they cut out many of the Pokemon, the number of them today is outrageous and it needed to be lightened up a bit. Also it makes the hardcore fans cry and that amuses me, i feed off of their tears.
  15.
  16. I thought the length was good, it took me about 25 hours to play through it naturally. I caught a decent amount of Pokemon and spoke to every NPC i could find. i see many people rushing through it and complaining that it is too short when in reality it is probably longer than the others. take your time and enjoy things.
  17.
  18. Regardless of people saying it is too easy nowadays i actually found it to be harder. my play style is to only use my starter (Grookie gang) and use the other 5 Pokemon to revive my starter and use potions. normally you blow through the game this way but there were many times where this proved difficult. i never died but that's really only because i was stocked up with 50 revives and potions the whole time. a couple battles I even used like 20 to stay alive.
  19.
  20. The exp share was good as it allowed for my other 5 Pokemon to sometimes be two shotted instead of one lol, allowing me to use basically unlimited revives. i was also able to switch them out after they evolved, and evolved basically every Pokemon that evolved by level, which really bumped up the pokedex numbers.
  21.
  22. A few of the characters i actually liked such as Marnie, Sonia, Nessa, Bea, and Pokeball Guy.
  23.
  24. Gigantamaxing was something i thought i would hate but it wasn't that bad. much better than mega evolutions (hated those) however they didn't really add much to the game either so i could go either way.
  25.
  26. I am usually a boomer when it comes to new Pokemon. you might have heard me say that there are 251 Pokemon and 600 pieces of garbage, but some of the new ones were actually kind of cool and i didn't mind using them. At the start of the game i told myself i would only use gen 1 but that didn't last very long at all.
  27.
  28. there is probably much more positive examples i couldn't think of off the top of my head. The positives outweigh the negatives even if this pastebin doesn't show it.
  29.
  30. Negatives:
  31.
  32. Most of the characters are very bad
  33.
  34. Hop is literally the worst character in anything that has ever been made ever. As a rival he was way too friendly to you, he has one of those "positivity and friendship can overcome any obstacle" kind of attitude and i hate that stuff so much. He follows you throughout the entire game and talks to you way more often than you want. everything about his demeanor just makes me legit angry, seeing his face bugs me and his physical gestures are no different. he rides yours as well as his brothers dick the entire time and is just very annoying. There is a part in the story where he starts losing battles and becomes depressed and i loved it very much, nothing made me happier than seeing him question his worth, but unfortunately it didn't last very long. He is also included in the "Hero Legend" and even gets the opposite legendary when you get yours. the story is about me being champion, who cares about him... like seriously. what ever happened to Gary putting you down with insults, and going around with his band of groupie followers separately from you. we need to bring the asshole rival back. also you can't name him something like DickButt or Dumbass or something we all did in the older games. i could go on forever about how much Hop sucks so i'll stop now.
  35.
  36. Team Yell is almost just as bad as Hop, although you don't see them as much so they aren't as bad. They are not really evil, they are just fans of Marnie and only get in your way to help her. They don't have some crazy plan to take over the world or anything like Team Rocket or Magma or the others. They look stupid as hell, and that's just the nicest way to put it. they arent a good evil presence because everything they do is actually nice, like stopping you from waking up Pokemon and other things i can't really remember because they are so forgettable.
  37.
  38. other bad characters are Bede. he makes a much better rival than Hop, but he isn't around much and his story goes way off the rails. also is he a male child or an 80 year old woman, like seriously i can't tell? The sword/shield brothers you have to deal with in the endgame are just absolutely horrible, they are the kind of people you just want to punch when hearing them talk and their hair makes them so much worse. Rose, Leon, and most of the gym leaders (especially Marnie's brother) were also either annoying or very bland. Also most of the NPC trainers were ugly as hell or just plain YIKES, like the rapping guys or the cops with the derpy faces.
  39.
  40. There really wasn't a definite bad guy, just good guys who didn't agree on how the issues should be resolved, and even then the issues wouldn't have happened till 1000 years in the future so it was hard to care anyway. story was generally more bland than usual, which is really saying something for Pokemon.
  41.
  42. The game holds your hand way too much. i realize it is made for kids but so were the early ones, kids can figure things out for themselves and actually benefit from doing so.
  43.
  44. No elite four, just 4 gym leader/rival re-fights. not the worst thing ever but it kind of sucks, the tournament setting was actually cool though.
  45.
  46. Why is there no Bulbasaur, literally the best pokemon. I know i said i enjoyed the cutting of the pokemon, but BULBASAUR.....REALLY!
  47.
  48. Most Importantly:
  49. The overall quality of the game is not much better than gen 5, 6, 7. when you think of the games coming from the 3ds to the switch you would expect a big upgrade, but i'm pretty sure the game could run on a 3ds if it had to, and that is extremely upsetting. the graphics look no different from the previous games, honestly the trees look like trees from ocarina of time and the terrain is also pretty bad. i don't normally care about graphics but the switch can do MUCH better, just look at SMO, BOTW, Luigi's Mansion, and even the Let's Go games. i really feel like its just a 3ds game ported to console. however since people are bitching about the FPS being bad i will say that the FPS is fine. it may stutter in some places but it's not a competitive shooter so who cares, get over it.
  50.
  51. I feel like there was much more room for extra stuff from the previous games. examples would be beauty contests, diving underwater, HM puzzles, stuff like that. the main story is basically all there is to do with no sidetracking at all.
  52.
  53.
  54. Overall:
  55.
  56. I had a lot of fun and it is one of the better Pokemon games although i still prefer gen 1, 2, 3, and the Let's go series.
  57. 7.5/10
  58.
  59. also i know i missed many things that i liked and disliked, i wrote this up quick. but literally no one is gonna read this anyway LUL
  60.
  61. Tl;dr
  62. Very good, also very bad. No Bulbasaur WTF!
  63. 7.5/10
