final thesis HAS to be during a spring sem

skeletrans story: she meets sea devil, expecting WHOLE human body, after struggles only gets parts. "you'll have to keep doing this to get it all"
first thing she gets is like, the top half of a human face. do some stuff with a facemask to cover the bottom half of her face--basically being like, presenting as a human, even though most of the body is still skeletal. this doesn't mean that she's not going to be a human, or that she's not one, but rather that there's still a lot of steps to take to reach that final conclusion
definitely do some examining and make sure the language is clear about it: she *is* a human, and is just taking the steps to achieve that. also maybe do something with like... someone's like "You're not really a human", to which there'd be something like, "Does that even fucking matter? Not only are you wrong, but literally why would it matter if I 'wasn't supposed to be human'?"

something with fire perhaps? like, "i'd rather burn than break", sitting on a windowsill in a burning building, something with smoking. maybe do something with how the Ocean Devil's Clinic has vending machines that sell cigarettes? or possibly make it soda, and just link it with depression and addiction--so at the end she starts drinking one, then throws it away and is like, "I don't need it anymore."
