Even during the year she was his teacher, Dimitri had thought of her as a woman. It may have been because their first meeting had involved her rescuing him, but nevertheless, he didn't really think of her as a teacher before he thought of her as a woman.

He never told her, of course. It was improper. Better to content himself with nights alone and look back at his feelings as a simple schoolboy crush than to make his feelings known and cause trouble for both of them.

How distant those days seemed in that moment.

She'd always been very kind, even during private tutoring moments. Now, however, she was frowning at him, disapproval clear on her face. It wasn't a glare; she wasn't staring at him like he was an enemy.

That was good. That meant she wasn't an enemy. That meant she didn't have to die.

She tried to scold him. He shouted at her that she didn't know what was going on and what had happened since she disappeared. She said that she knew enough, and that she was sorry for having disappeared when she was needed. Dimitri laughed humorlessly and asked if that meant she was going to comfort him. Her face turned red, and he knew that she understood what he'd meant; She grew up a mercenary, after all.

He didn't really give her a chance to answer. He pulled her toward him and smashed their lips together. It couldn't really be called a kiss, given that it was more like teeth gnashing together as they fell onto the bed

He made no attempt at foreplay. He was surprised to realize that this was her first time, but he made no attempt to be more gentle. He kissed her numerous times, but his thrusts remained rough. Being inside of her and making her moan after years of dreaming about it should have brought him joy, but everything that had happened over the past five years weighed on his mind.

"Dimitri." She said softly. "Dimitri!"

He halted his thrusts and glared at her, asking what she wanted.

"I want you to stop crying."

He wanted to pull out and run away, never looking back.

Instead, she wrapped her arms around his back and pulled him closer, as though she'd already guessed what was going through his mind.

Part of him felt humiliated: For all the screwups he'd made at the monastery, he'd never cried in front her (or anyone, for that matter). Another part of him felt relieved that his mask had slipped, and in front of someone he knew he could trust with anything.

"Ah... Maybe crying is actually what you need right now?" She murmured, burying her face into his hair.

He really wasn't a match for her.

The dam was fully broken and before he knew what was going on, he heard his own voice gasping and sobbing as she rubbed his back.

Her arms were still wrapped around him when he woke in the morning.
