Gosling Fanfiction

You wake up and check the date on your phone. It's Sunday, and the day is Valentine's day, which for you, pretty much means it's just any other Sunday. Scrolling through your phone, you suddenly receive a series of LINE Messages.

>SUISEI_HOSIMATI: I'm kinda bored today.
>SUISEI_HOSIMATI: You're free right?
>SUISEI_HOSIMATI: Wanna hang out at the usual spot?

Hoshimachi Suisei. She's been your friend since middle school, up until now in High School. She's cute and quite the character, although she's mostly kept to herself and close friends, you included. You never really expected to be friends with her, but luck had it that you were seated next to her when she chose the seat at the end of the classroom by the window, muttering to herself that this was where the protagonists usually sat and thought to themselves while in school.
From then on, she started talking to you about the most mundane things and she often included you in her big plans. One time she even tried to get a Light Music club in school; but the teachers told her that you can't have a school club with just two members, so she let it slide. Of course, you tried to tell her that before she enlisted you in a club that didn't exist yet; but once she sets her mind on something she just can't stop until she either succeeds or fails. You're more the kind to just go on along with her on the ride.

You decide on what to reply back to her, and think of something that might get on her nerves.

>Anontachi: It's Valentine's day, you know? Someone's left me a message to meet me today for something.

Not exactly a lie, but not exactly the truth either. Nobody's left you a message for anything, aside from Suisei, although you're gonna try to egg her on and see her reaction to your sudden developments. The LINE notification pops up again, shortly after you send your message. Guess she was waiting for your reply.

>SUISEI_HOSIMATI: Oh, it's Valentine's, huh?
>SUISEI_HOSIMATI: I never would have guessed you'd be busy today!
>SUISEI_HOSIMATI: Why not bring her along afterwards?
>SUISEI_HOSIMATI: I'd love to meet the girl who's interested in Anontachi! Ehehe...

You're trapped. You can't lie to her, so you try to keep going on with vague statements and try to not speak more on the topic.

>Anontachi: S-sure, I'm actually talking with her right now.
>Anontachi: Let's see if you can get to meet her.
>SUISEI_HOSIMATI: She's that kind of girl, huh?
>SUISEI_HOSIMATI: So I guess I won't be seeing you at the usual spot by 3PM?
>Anontachi: Yeah, you won't.

You decided to be a little late to try and pretend you actually met someone. You can't keep her waiting too long though. It's 3:05 PM as you enter the café, you look around to find Suisei sitting by herself and checking her phone. She already has an order, although it's just some tapioca milk tea. You begin to move over to her table, but she notices you and gives you a small wave before motioning over to the seat opposite of her.
Of course, you actually don't have anyone to see today, besides her. In fact, she's probably the one who you want to see the most today, and seeing her LINE message at the start of your day was a dream come true. However, you also know that she doesn't really care about these kinds of days, so you don't dwell too long on the meaning behind her asking you to come meet her.

>Suisei: So I don't get to meet the special girl, huh?
>Suisei: I knew there was no girl anyway, so don't sweat it.
>Suisei: In fact, you should be honored that I'm hanging out with you.

There she goes again with her attitude. You don't disagree with her though, Your friendship with her is something that you deeply treasure, even though you don't show it all that much. It's one of the few things preventing you from going through that extra step and telling her that you actually like her. You just don't wanna give this up for something she probably won't reciprocate anyway. Suisei	takes a short sip from her drink. Her eyes close as she savors the taste.

>Suisei: Hey, this is real good! You should try it out!

Suisei holds the drink towards your mouth. She knows that she just drank from this, right? You two obviously shared drinks in your younger years but as you've gotten more aware of your feelings towards her, you begin to notice these small things more. You take the drink and give it a good sip. You instantly taste the tea, but it's not as overpowering due to the brown sugar and milk that's been mixed into the drink. You ask her about it, knowing that she's typically not into sweets.

>Suisei: It's not as sweet as I thought it was. Come on! Take a seat.

You sit in front of her while she goes on about her day. Apparently, she's been introduced to a new friend recently who's into the same game that she's been trying to get you to play for a while now. En-sta was it? She keeps saying that even guys can play it, and you keep saying that you'll try it out, but you both know that you'll never try it for as long as you live. You're glad she's finding more people to enjoy it with, though. She stops talking, takes a long sip from her drink, and then says that she's got another big plan coming.

>Suisei: Virtual Youtubers, they're becoming a big thing these days, you know?
>Suisei: Yeah. Vtubers, for short. I'm thinking of becoming one myself!
>Suisei: Yeah, I've got a design ready and I've been learning how to rig it recently.

There she goes again, a new trend catches her eye, and she's gonna try to make it hers. It's an admirable trait, but you wonder how she stays optimistic with the outlook. You haven't heard much about Vtubers, but she makes it sound like she's riding a wave that's already far ahead of her.

>Suisei: I'll become one of a kind! An Idol Vtuber.
>Suisei: Yeah! Everyone will me in a few years.
>Suisei: I'll become a household name and have hundreds and thousands of subscribers!
>Suisei: I can imagine it now. Like a shooting star, I'll catch the eyes of so many people.

You roll your eyes.

>Suisei: It's gonna happen, you know?! Just give it a few years. Maybe you'll even see me on TV!
>Suisei: Just make sure to watch my back, alright?

You assure her that you're with her every step of the way. The minutes pass by as you both talk about things out of the blue, you hardly notice the time until she brings up that it's almost sunset. As you get ready to pack up and leave, she beckons you to wait.

>Suisei: Anon! Since you brought up valentine's earlier, I've got something for you!

Your heart skips a beat. You know that it's probably nothing, but you still get caught unaware by her parting words. She brings out a small, blue bag, tied with a yellow ribbon. You take the bag and open it, and she explains what's inside.

>Suisei: Obligation chocolate, of course!
>Suisei: Aren't you happy a girl got you chocolates today?
>Suisei: Maybe in a few years people would be dying to be in your position right now.
>Suisei: I got you a little something special, too. Check under the chocolates.

You see a bunch of small objects that look like stars. These must be konpeitou, she loves these things to death.

>Suisei: They're so cute, right?
>Suisei: Well, now that I gave you something for Valentine's, I expect something in return on White Day.
>Suisei: No need to make it anything too special, but... my birthday's near that too.
>Suisei: Well, see you anon! An event's coming up and I need to prepare to rank.

She gives you a small wink. You reassure her that you'll actually think about her gift in a month's time. You walk home with chocolate in hand, wondering what to give her in return. Why did she bother giving you these chocolates, anyway? Both of you know that she cares little about these kinds of things, and the overthinking echoes loudly in your head as you lay in bed.
Suisei is too ambitious for her own good, it's hard to keep up with her. You still stick with her though, as you always have. She might see you as an equal, but for all you know, you've always seen her as someone to look up to. If she's the idol on the stage, then you're just the audience cheering her on. You watch some anime to get your mind off her, and as you're about to retire for the night, you hear the LINE notification pop up on your phone.

>SUISEI_HOSIMATI: Thanks for coming to meet me today!
>SUISEI_HOSIMATI: You better watch my debut and become my biggest Cometomo!
>Anontachi: Cometomo?
>SUISEI_HOSIMATI: That's what I'll be calling my fanbase.
>SUISEI_HOSIMATI: Isn't it cute? Almost as cute as me!
>Anontachi: If you say so.
>Anontachi: I'll be watching all your videos then.
>SUISEI_HOSIMATI: Thanks Anon! Oyasumi!

You put the phone down and wonder if she'll actually achieve her dreams this time. Well, regardless of the outcome, you'll be there to watch her until the end.
