Yongseok grew up in a normal neighbourhood with his family. He took an interest in dancing after he saw an interview with a ballet dancer, Yuan Yuan Tan, on television and immediately loved her. His parents decided to enter him into dance classes, along with his younger sister, for him to learn how to do ballet. As he grew up, he participated in dance and gymnastics competitions, which attracted South Korean companies to ask his parents to audition their son.

↻ [ TEEN-YEARS ]
After many denials, Yongseok finally agreed to join a company. He went with his younger sister to a Jellyfish Entertainment audition that was held in Seoul. He ended up getting in, but his sister was rejected. He would train at home along with his sister, who eventually was accepted into DSP Media. After five years, he was ready to give up before he got a letter saying that they wanted him to be sent to ACE24.

personality ; His family wasn't that social and it rubbed off on him. He grew up quiet and shy of himself. Yongseok's ballet teacher would slowly coax him out of it, and he became more flamboyant and outspoken in his dancing. Despite his soft looks, Yongseok became competitive and ambitious. He is creative and is often found trying to work out choreography to songs, but can also be very mischievous. However, he is flexible and can adapt to a sudden change fast. He is also good at seeing things from outside his own perspective, and he enjoys helping other people if he can. Yongseok is coordinated and a thrill-seeker, and as his parents dub it, "A horned angel".
