  2. -Most commonly taught and widely used theory of communication
  3. -Modified Shannon-Weaver model by adding field of experience, defined as " life experiences, attitudes, values, and beliefs that each communicator brings to an interaction and that shapes how messages are sent and received

  5. *Berlo's SMCR Model of Communication (1960)
  6. -David Berlo postulated this model from Shannon-Weaver's model
  7. -Described factors affecting the individual components in communication, making communication more efficient
  8. -Focuses on encoding and decoding which happens before sender sends the message and before receiver receives the message respectively
  9. -Mainly has 4 components to describe the communication process: Sender, Message, Channel, and Receiver

  11. *Aristotle Model of Communication
  12. -Linear model of communication for oral communication developed by Aristotle
  13. -Considered as the first model of communication and was proposed before 300 B.C. and is the most widely accepted among all communication models
  14. -Focused on speaker and speech
  15. -Speaker centered model as the speaker has the most important role in it and is the only one active
  16. -Speaker's role is to deliver a speech to the audience
