Twilight Princess - Low% FAQ
Q: So, what exactly is low%?
A: The category definition is a bit controversial, but the goal is essentially to finish the game while doing as little as possible. Specifically, I will be trying to get as few collectables, items, and warp portals as possible. The controversy is that currently, small keys are considered collectables, and we're not entirely sure if that's the correct classification.
Q: How long is this run? Why is it this long?
A: The current world record is 28:27:27 by Taka. My PB is 31:18:05, so I hope to beat that, preferably by a few hours. Optimally, there are about five hours of gameplay, maybe five and a half, and the rupee slides should last about 2.5, 4, and 13.5 hours, respectively. Adding it up, you get 25ish hours, but we're pretty sure sub 24 is possible with insane luck.
Q: How does a Rupee Slide work?
A: We get a rupee that has a textbox. For some reason, there is a missing frame in the animation of link going back and forth during this cutscene. This missing frame pushes us in a direction, which is random when we get the rupee, but stays the same throughout the slide. However, it pushes us very, very slowly.
Q: Are you cheating? Those coordinates aren't part of the original game.
A: No. Well, kind of. We have allowed the cheat that shows coordinates for Low% because it would otherwise suck even more. We'd have to go two or more hours before figuring out which direction we're moving. Also, we might not know when to stop.
Q: Can I see the route?
A: The Low% route can be found here
Q: I have a question about Twilight Princess speedrunning. Where is the best place to ask it?
A: The Twilight Princess Speedrunning Discord Server
Q: Why are you doing this to yourself?
A: https://youtu.be/Uo_TRFXh5XI
Q: Are you going to, like, sleep during the run?
A: Probably. It depends on how tired I get.
Q: What will you be doing during the slides, if not sleeping?
A: I'm working on learning the 3D Zelda Challenge, which means doing the speedruns for the 3D Zelda games back to back. Because I have a limited setup, I can only stream off of my Wii U or Switch while also streaming the low% run. This means I'll probably be learning The Wind Waker HD or the Breath of the Wild speedrun.
I hope that clears things up. Enjoy the run!
