- 1. Nicole Dollanganger - Beautiful and Bad
- Submitted by: deathconscious / 189 scrobbles
- Comment: My most played track for 2020. Can't say more about Nicole as everything I wanted to write I already did for the previous playlist. This goes hard.
- 2. døves - fly
- Submitted by: moth#4010 / 129 scrobbles
- Comment: I dunno what else to say I just really adore this song and album
- 3. IU - Child searching for a Star
- Submitted by: Bargot / 111 scrobbles
- Comment: Right off the bat: idk what the actual song title is, me, and many others, have it listed as Holding a Star in my Heart, yet this says it's "Child searching for a Star". Anyways, as most probably know, I'm a big IU stan, and this album is one of my favourites out there, however, sadly it's not on youtube. Figured I'd sub this since it's my favourite song on the album, and one of the few non-spotify listened to songs I had.
- 4. SUNMI - Borderline
- Submitted by: Pinguru / 71 scrobbles
- Comment: My #16 song I already teased in the Top of the Year playlist - another SUNMI, not Loathe (sorry gekkers). YT exclusive, apparently shouldn't even release, though she played it live a few times.
- Ever since the song released it was super close to or even my #1 spot monthly, with the exception of I think two months.
- Well, song's completely in English and about anxiety, about how she has to be while in the spotlight and how she shouldn't/couldn't reveal her "injury" (that's how she called it). Which is usually not something people in South Korea talk about, as talk about mental health is pretty much frowned upon over there.
- 5. Shaman Jungle – Nagavor
- Submitted by: stefan / 70 scrobbles
- Comment: I had to go down the list to find a non-spotify song, there was a Macedonian song at #43 but that's not even on YouTube :kekw:, so the next one was this one at #55. Belarusian folk/ethno/trance (as per their own tags). I don't have much to say about this, enjoy
- 6. Foxtails - Do You Believe I'm Real, Boy Wonder?
- Submitted by: dream / 68 scrobbles
- Comment: Foxtail's most beautiful and epic track and they put it on the record on free download on BandCamp but not on Spotify :pleading: I remember grabbing the album years ago, maybe in 2018 when I played it through once then promptly forgot about it until last March. If I was rich post-covid I'd pay for their flights from the US to tour here and Europe
- 7. Crystal Cage - Follow Your Heart
- Submitted by: Pingulicious / 39 scrobbles - like every other song on the EP
- Comment: This was my original pick for the YT playlist as I actually didn't want to submit Sunmi twice.
- Crystal Cage's *I Felt the Night Radiating* is probably my favorite non-Spotify release of the year. Hell, it's the best Witch House of 2020. Maybe even my favorite EP of 2020 (currently shared with Dealer - Saint).
- But Streaming costs the guy more than it earns him (source: @eezeebee#4669, who has been in DMs with Crystal Cage), so it's Bandcamp only and not even every track from the EP is on YT.
- Most of Crystal Cage's 2020 releases have Black Metal vocalist Somniare on the tracks - I Felt the Night Radiating does not; those were songs he started in 2018 and never released/finished. Such a shame to keep that hidden away for so long.
- 8. Mansur - Disciples
- Submitted by: TripToTheDentist / 26 scrobbles
- Comment: not a youtube exclusive, my bad :pensive: all of my fav songs in 2020 are available on spotify, what a hardship. :weary:
- hence I subbed a song with a very aesthetic video and maybe you guys will like it as well.
- Mansur are my favourite newcomers of 2020 and both their albums released last year are very high on my AOTY list. :relieved:
- 9. The Keep - Acqua Alta
- Submitted by: TripToTheDentist #2 / 25 scrobbles
- Comment: The Keep's album is one of the many albums I've enjoyed 2020. And I just really like this heavily halo-themed video. :relieved: :ocean: :ocean: :ocean: :sweat_drops:
- 10. Talking heads - This must be the place (naïve melody)
- Submitted by: Yen / 13 scrobbles
- Comment: I first heard this song in a movie called This Must Be The Place in 2014/5, I am not sure anymore and then I forgot about it. Since I rarely like anything musical on yt (I am a bigger fan of sorting stuff I like into music playlists instead), aside from various cosmetic vids and here and there some gardening and rooting plants how to's, this is one of the rare music videos I liked on yt in 2020 and it's not an actual music video but a scene from the movie. And I like this semi live version of the song better than the album version. It just tugs at my heart and is a better note to add to this pl than the depressing Katatonia which also described 2020 better but I didn't want to double on Death's personcore pl. Long story short: I suck at these write-ups and I shouldn't do them at the very last moment.
- 11. David Vassalotti - Mirror
- Submitted by: halo / 11 scrobbles
- Comment: Lol I'm so dependent on spotify for everything that I had to go wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy deep to find something for this one 💀David Vassalotti was for sure my favourite discovery of 2020 who didn't actually put out anything in 2020. I started listening to him by just choosing a random artist when I was visiting petro's lfm profile LOL but I got super hooked. I picked up his 2016 record *Broken Rope* on wax (and wish I got his 2019 followup in the same order... dumb) but *Book Of Ghosts* is a hard one to find— I've only been able to find it uploaded to YT so thank you youtube user Overdrive Arcade for keeping up there. I love his songwriting and the fuzzzzzzzz so much <3
- 12. Jogger - Nephicide
- Submitted by: death / 26 scrobbles
- Comment: Bonus track, this is one of the most unique songs I have heard in 2020 and it's pretty fun. The MV is also something. Metal mixed with indie.
