[14:43] <Tangent> This part of the Overcity seems to be strangely...coherent. The buildings are in neat rows- faded whites and tans with regular rows of balconies and (broken) windows.

[14:44] <Tangent> There are faded street signs written in gibberish and illegible scribbles, and rusting lampposts.

[14:44] <Jinghua> The weather changes. In the distance a thunder-like roar is heard, the clouds cover the sky, then move and make way for a dragon, which is the first magical change to occur.
[14:45] <Jinghua> The dragon strikes the ground like a lightning.
[14:45] <Jinghua> As he whirls around Jinghua, the clothing she's wearing is swapped with a caleidoscope of countless, consecutive alternate outfits, appearing for a few instants and then disappearing, one after the other. Each outfit has its corresponding unique haircut and pose, these metamorphoses continue until the desired outfit is selected.
[14:45] <Jinghua> Dragon Fangs, her double spear, and her armor are conjured out of the dragon's breath, she spins the weapon around, flicks her hair, utters her phrase, and finally poses together with it.

[14:47] <Tangent> The Overcity seems to notice- and respond- to the newcomer. Some of the regular rows of buildings seem to change subtly when not observed, returning to the more...haphazard mix of building styles common to the Overcity. Office buildings rub shoulders with skyscrapers. It's as close to normal as it gets in the Overcity...but there's still a large chunk of Parisian street.

[15:01] <Tangent> The newcomer...seems suitably wary as she picks her way down the street. She's a girl in her mid-teens- short, round faced and fine featured, with light gray eyes the colour of fresh ash. Her long and equally grey hair is pulled into an elaborate braid that had probably been quite well maintained earlier but is now somewhat messy.
[15:01] <Tangent>  Her ornate white and gold outfit's somewhere between armor and a dress, with wing-esque decorations...and she's holding some kind of spear in her hands- albeit a bit clumsily as though she isn't sure how to use it yet.
[15:01] <Tangent> The new girl holds her spear a bit tighter as Jinghua approaches, brow furrowing in clear concern...but doesn't say anything until she gets closer.

[15:07] <Jinghua> As Jinghua's brown hair and red features of her clothing continue to dance in the wind, she replies: "My name is Jinghua, and I am looking for those who protect this city."

[15:13] <Tangent> Claire isn't quite pointing her spear at Jinghua...but she isn't lowering it either. "...I'm Claire." She looks the taller girl over, gaze darting around a bit- she doesn't seem to realize she's chewing her lip in thought. "This...city?" She eventually asks. "Where...where are we? And...you're looking for someone?" There's a strange emphasis on "someone" in her words- and her interest leaks into her reply. "Who, exactly? And why?"

[15:16] * Jinghua inspects Claire with her bright red eyes. "I can do all these things, through the dragons which give me power. And more."

[15:19] <Tangent> Claire backsteps at Jinghua's landing, spear twitching for a moment. "D-dragons? They're...they're real?" She shakes her head. "Never mind, but...The people you're looking for...You...you don't know anyone named Aya, do you?"

[15:21] <Jinghua> "Yes, dragons are real, they are protectors of large bodies of water and the great secrets therein, and messengers of Heaven. I wouldn't know about this 'Aya', but please do tell me more..."
[15:22] * Jinghua , despite the apocalyptic nature of her occupation, has a kind and caring expression of her face, understanding the young woman before her is puzzled as she is

[15:27] <Tangent> "I..." Claire's facade cracks a bit. She slumps, lowering her spear further. "She's my friend. I'm looking for her...The cat said she went here and...never came back after..." She shakes her head, blinking rapidly. "I...Okay....Okay..." She swallows, calming herself with a visible effort. "Just...which way is it to...more people? It's like this place is a ghost town, it just keeps going..."
[15:29] <Jinghua> "If this 'Aya' is one that protects this city, I will accompany you."
[15:30] <Jinghua> There are few things Jinghua fears, and fear itself is one of them.
[15:32] <Jinghua> "I will admit that I am as lost as you are. I assume a direction is as good as any, at this point. Shall we go where the change in the... concrete jungle... is more frequent? Or where it is less so?"
[15:32] * Jinghua assumes she is the one Claire is afraid of, given the amount of people there
[15:34] <Tangent> Claire looks decidedly torn about this, but...nods. Better to have someone else, even someone as lost as she is with dragon powers or whatever...Especially in this strange place. "I...I don't know. This whole place makes no sense. One second it's like back home, and the next, and there's no one here..." She shakes her head. "Right. Okay so...There's nothing back that way, and if you're lost too, we shouldn't go that way..." She looks around as she rambles.
[15:34] <Tangent> "So let's try a new direction and hope for the best, I guess?"
[15:35] <Tangent> She points vaguely with her spear, holding it one handed and lowering it afterwards. "...This way, maybe?"
[15:37] * Jinghua simply nods and begins floating again
[15:37] <Jinghua> "Can you fly?", she asks as if it is the most normal thing in the world

[15:38] <Tangent> Claire gives her new...companion a slightly nervous glance at her...bobbing. "...No?" She blurts then thinks better of it, looking down at her outfit for a second. "At least...Um, I don't *think* so...I'm actually not that sure what I *can* do..." She admits.

[15:39] * Jinghua is visibly annoyed at walking like she's some common mortal
[15:40] <Jinghua> "Claire, what about what you DO know? What are your powers?"
[15:41] <Jinghua> (for the record, Jinghua is NOT a monster girl)
[15:41] <Tangent> (Claire doesn't know what those are yet.)
[15:42] <Jinghua> (Jinghua was informed it's full of magically empowered young women over there)
[15:42] <Tangent> Claire notices...but doesn't comment. She just bobs her head and starts walking- staying within a few meters of the other girl. "I...I'm a magical girl now, I guess? I...I get around faster...I *think* I can do something with this..." She raises her spear a bit. "But I haven't tried that yet..."
[15:43] <Jinghua> "I'm torn between being appreciative of the honesty displayed, and questioning the wisdom of showcasing such weakness."

[15:45] <Tangent> Claire...doesn't seem quite happy at that, but bobs her head and keeps walking. She keeps glancing back to Jinghua. "What...what about you then? Other than running errands for dragons? What powers do you have?"
[15:46] * Jinghua flips her double spear all over her with superlative skill
[15:46] <Tangent> "...Oh."
[15:47] <Jinghua> "I do a little bit of everything, really."
[15:48] <Jinghua> Static electricity is seen around the girl's hair, a sphere of water appears out of knowhere and floats before turning into vapor, and other silly tricks happen
[15:50] <Jinghua> "It is only natural that a creature of such complexity, greatness and might as a dragon would provide such variety. A dragon can hardly be defined."
[15:53] <Tangent> Claire stares, then nods along "How...how did you find them?" She asks.
[15:54] * Jinghua is unsure whether Claire refers to dragons or the powers thereof, but her reply would be identical: "I did't. They found me."

[15:57] <Tangent> "Oh...So you just...said yes because...dragons are awesome?" She hazards, trying to find out more about the other girl.
[16:00] <Jinghua> "I killed the previous Jinghua. Unintentionally."
[16:00] <Jinghua> A single tear rolls down Jinghua's cheek.
[16:03] <Tangent> Claire freezes, wincing. Oops. "...I'm sorry." Clumsily, she reaches out with one gloved hand towards the taller girl.

[16:06] <Jinghua> "Even though she accepted her fate, and I accepted mine, it's too hard for me to accept hers." Jinghua doesn't look as blazingly confident as before. "But enough of me, who is it that find you?"

[16:11] <Tangent> Claire gives Jinghua a pat on the arm, then pauses. "It...It looked like a cat. It told me about...all this. Magic. A city...It said Aya'd agreed to go find...monsters for it...And that she hadn't come back...And that I'd have to do the same thing to find her..."
[16:12] <Jinghua> "I take it you too are tasked with protecting the city? Anything about monsters being here?"
[16:12] * Jinghua has a sly "I knew it" look on her face, especially the lips
[16:15] <Tangent> "I...I guess so. But...I'm just here to find Aya. All that can wait..." It's not like there's actually anything HERE to protect, and even if magical girls are cool...her friend comes first.
[16:15] <Jinghua> "Then I can deliver the message to you as well."
[16:16] * Jinghua unrolls a scroll
[16:16] <Tangent> "...Sure, I'll hear it." She looks curiously to Jinghua.
[16:18] * Jinghua begins to read: "The great menace will strike the Overcity again. Buildings will be toppled. The earth will be shaken. Its name is Walpurgisnacht."

[16:18] * Jinghua looks at Claire in panic
[16:19] * Jinghua is sweating profusely and shaking like a twing during the storm
[16:20] * Jinghua points at something behind Claire
[16:20] * Jinghua is about to cry
[16:21] <Tangent> Claire listens in mild worry- that gets a lot worse when she sees Jinghua's state. "J-Jinghua? What...what is it?" She reaches towards Jinghua...then spins around, remembering to raise her spear a moment later.
[16:22] <Jinghua> "AAAAAAAARRGH!!!!", yells the Asian girl
[16:22] <Jinghua> Claire sees nothing worth freaking out
[16:23] <Jinghua> There's a digital clock that found its way there for some reason, Overcity being Overcity

[16:24] <Tangent> "H-huh? What....It's okay...It's just a clock..." She tries to reassure Jinghua.
[16:24] <Jinghua> That's what Jinghua is scared of, apparently
[16:25] <Tangent> Claire blinks as she comes to a realization. "Um. Wait. Does...uh...does that menace have an...arrival date?" She gulps.

[16:25] <Jinghua> Jinghua points at the date on the scroll. The scroll is full of incomprehensible Chinese characters, but the numbers say: 30/04/2016

[16:29] * Jinghua 's face is red and begins to float away
[16:30] <Tangent> "W-wait, d-don't just leave me here!" Claire protests. "Jinghua!"
[16:32] <Jinghua> "Excuse me but I am late, as in MONTHS late, specifically! So I'll have you forgive me because my bosses most probably won't!"

[16:34] <Tangent> "Forgive? You're just leaving me here!" Claire protests. "F-fine! Go run off to your dragon buddies, then! I...I'lll just have to find...find her myself before..."
[16:34] <Tangent> She stamps her booted foot down, sending up a shower of sparks and starts running. She's not sure where to, but...she has to find her.
[16:34] <Jinghua> "Farewell, and good luck in your quest! We'll see each other one more time... in this life or in the next..."
