- Lohan stumbled as he was pushed forward further into the glade. He felt several pairs of eyes upon him, and when the man behind him roughly grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and tilted his head upward he met the empty gazes of the group in front of him. He gritted his teeth angrily, without saying a word.
- After a moment of pressing silence, the man who held Lohan started speaking in the ancient tongue Lohan hadn't heard in a long time.
- "Found him at the glade's opening, elder", he said. A thin man with a long, brown mane of hair stepped forward to look at Lohan with an expression of utter disgust.
- "Perhaps you thought that we would not notice," he said as he walked forward. "Perhaps you thought it would not matter." He kneeled down to be face to face with Lohan, and harshly grabbed his chin, forcing Lohan to look straight into his eyes.
- "I want to hear it from you, young one. You have a name now, don't you? Given to you by the human?"
- Lohan didn't respond, even though an array of colorful insults sprung up in his head.
- "Tell me!" The man screamed, throwing Lohan onto the ground, again. "Tell me now! What did you do with her?!" Lohan didn't respond. The man threw a jumble of textiles in front of him. Lohan knew exactly what it was. The clothes Éline had given him.
- "It's hilarious, really! She gave you garments! Like you're one of them. We do NOT associate with humans!"
- "Stop it, stop it!" A shrill, female voice rang out from behind the brown haired man, and a young woman ran forward.
- "Don't hurt him, please!" She said, her eyes wide with fear.
- "Sister..." Lohan muttered with a dry voice. A part of him was happy to see her, but another part felt devastated about having her see him like this.
- "Hurt?" The brown haired man scoffed. "If it was acceptable to hurt our brethren, I would've skewered him long ago! But you see." His voice became soft, dripping with toxin. "I follow rules."
- "Tell them, young one." He stared at Lohan. "Tell the herd that you learned the ways of humans. That you learned their language. That you mated with one of them." Gasps were heard among the group, and the woman held her hands to her mouth, unable to process the information. Lohan stared at the ground.
- "Yes" he said. "I did that."
- "Oh, but that's not all, is it? She's not even a pure human. She's a vampire." Another loud gasp was heard. Lohan's sister was now in tears. "That's right, everyone. Our brother mated with a vampire. Amazing, isn't it? The purest, the most holy being in the world - a being who bleeds liquid gold! Together with a dark unholiness, shunned even by the pitiful humans themselves!" The man grabbed Lohan by the hair and lifted him to his feet.
- "And you seriously thought you could still be considered one of us? No, no. I will give you what you want. Permanent exile from the glade! The glade will remain closed for all eternity, and you will never see your true brethren again."
- "Brother, no!" The woman shouted. "Please, there must be another way, there-"
- "He mated with a vampire, girl!" The woman fell silent. The brown haired man let go of Lohan.
- "Escort him out."
