  1. ~Southern Archipelago~
  2. The Southern Archipelago is the last-settled of the archipelagos of the League of Fifty Islands, for the simple reason that it’s the farthest away from the Old Continent, which is (mostly) in the northern half of the world. Though enough time has passed that it’s no longer a frontier, the new nature of the Southern Archipelago shows itself: the culture between its islands is far less unified than that of the other archipelagos, and its political loyalties looser.
  3. The Southern Archipelago consists of Corolla (by far the most populous and dominant island in the archipelago), [and the other fucking islands I haven’t written out]
  4. Corolla: The most populous island of the Southern Archipelago and indeed of the whole League of Fifty Islands, Corolla is a powerhouse that leaves a notable splash in the country and that economically and politically dominates its archipelago.
  5. Corolla may not necessarily have quite as much land area as the space it takes up would seem to indicate, as it consists of an area of central land with four long peninsulas branching out in each direction, hence the island’s name (Corolla means the petals of a flower). The terrain is varied: the center of the island is mountainous and rich in gold, whereas the peninsulas range from cool, flat coastline to hills and forests.
  6. It’s hard to pin down a short, sweet summary of the whole island of Corolla, as because it’s so large and populous there’s quite a bit of variance within it. On the southern, temperate peninsula of the island lie the Three Cities, three cities of varying population, which are at the forefront of magical research in the League (one school each) outputting magical artifacts and devising new spells. On the warm and unceasingly sunny eastern peninsula, there’s Maradona’s Miracle (or just Miracle), one of the largest cities in the country and a center of wealth and culture, with its nearby port making the area a center of maritime power. Even on the semi-arid northern peninsula, there are two fairly large cities and tons of farmland that provide the food for much of the League, and a tightly-knit (and large) set of farmer communities. The heavily forested western peninsula is the only one that’s particularly sparsely populated, but even then there’s some spillover from the cities comfortably nestled in the gold-rich, greed-fed mountains in the center of Corolla, which holds the island’s capital, Discovery.
  7. If there’s any single thing one can pin down as common for most of the island is that there’s a sense of primacy in the air – that Corolla is on the up-and-up, and that it is important and on the bleeding edge of the future, or at the center of the issues of the confederation. This isn’t necessarily incorrect, considering the many rich contributions of Corolla to the whole league, but it is often a source of annoyance to the other islands.
  8. More than in any other island in the League, the people Corolla puts out are from all walks of life. Perhaps someone hailing from that island is a mage who eagerly studied with their compatriots in the Three Cities, perhaps they’re a wyvern rider patrolling the skies above their claim in the central mountains. Perhaps they’re a sailor who used to ply their trade in Miracle or a farmer from the north turned soldier. Everything is a possibility.
