- [3:09:17 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): I stongly doubt EG would have given them the same offer they gave them 8 months ago NOW too.
- [3:09:22 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): strongly doubt it
- [3:11:09 PM] Justin "theprodigyrlx" Whitman: lol, the way the put it is as if the EG sponsorship offer was a joke at first
- [3:11:18 PM] Justin "theprodigyrlx" Whitman: which under my understanding it wasn't at all.
- [3:13:04 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): It wasn't; but to the incredibly spoiled Halo community it was.
- [3:13:47 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: no it wasnt a joke
- [3:14:07 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: they understand what it would of meant to represent eg
- [3:14:20 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: but eg wouldn't let them work with anyone outside of the org for personal sponsorship
- [3:15:49 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): Of course not; to allow them to do that would be stupid of EG. The fact that Eon allows it proves they have no idea what they are doing right now unfortunately. You can't sell yourself and your endorsement to a company, when they can simply go behind you and get your players individually for a ridiculous amount less.
- [3:16:22 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: I think they also went with eon/optic gaming cause of the followers they can get out of it from their social media
- [3:16:30 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: and since these guys a big streamers
- [3:16:45 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: thats going to help them make more money off that as well
- [3:17:10 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: roy will probably go up from his 800-1500 viewers when scrimming on stream
- [3:17:37 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): It's definitely good to have that; but that being said none of that matters when/if Halo is dropped lol.
- [3:17:53 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: thats also the understand that they have with eon
- [3:18:11 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: these guys arent just good halo players they are going to branch out to other games if halo isn't on the circuit
- [3:18:20 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: whether it be bf3 with my team cod or whatever
- [3:18:28 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: and in bf3 we are the best
- [3:18:38 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: it kinda sucks though cause we havent gotten a scrim in over a week now
- [3:18:41 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: cause everyone boycotts us
- [3:19:39 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): Gonna have to branch pretty far lol
- [3:19:51 PM] Justin "theprodigyrlx" Whitman: curt
- [3:20:04 PM] Justin "theprodigyrlx" Whitman: do you think if CSGO is picked up by MLG that means no console FPS at all?
- [3:20:09 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: if halo gets dropped they will pick up another console fps
- [3:20:13 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: and these guys will be good at it
- [3:20:50 PM] Justin "theprodigyrlx" Whitman: probably
- [3:21:07 PM] Justin "theprodigyrlx" Whitman: gnome looks like a freak of nature btw in battlefield3
- [3:21:19 PM] Justin "theprodigyrlx" Whitman: soooooooo good
- [3:21:43 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: yea
- [3:21:54 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: hes actually already pretty good at halo too
- [3:22:09 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: like roy and ogre2 were impressed he picke dit up that quick
- [3:22:14 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): CSGO won't be picked up unfortunately
- [3:22:20 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): so it doesn't really matter
- [3:22:22 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: for console or pc?
- [3:22:26 PM | Edited 3:22:40 PM] Justin "theprodigyrlx" Whitman: reportedly valve and mlg are speaking
- [3:22:34 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): They have talked before
- [3:22:38 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): Doesn't mean Valve is going to give them money.
- [3:22:50 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): which is what they would demand.
- [3:24:21 PM] John "J.p." Perdicaro: Wait isn't it the other way around?
- [3:24:31 PM] John "J.p." Perdicaro: MLG gives Valve money
- [3:24:40 PM] Justin "theprodigyrlx" Whitman: rofl
- [3:24:40 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: highly doubt that
- [3:24:49 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): Lol, no.
- [3:31:07 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: speaking on what u said earlier curt, most of the halo community is spoiled even though the mlg has never raised the prize money on their events. They do get alot outside of mlg from drpepper/redbull/stride whatever. You can't argue that they arent deserving though. I've still only known these guys for 4 months or so now.
- [3:31:43 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: I think when you have history at main events as this
- Main Event
- 68 national level tournaments
- 42 main event 1st place finishes out of the 68
- 11 2nd place
- 5 3rd place
- 1 4th place
- 5 5th places
- 1 7th place
- 1 8th place
- 1 9th place
- 1 10th place
- main event win percentage of %62
- [3:31:56 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: you deserve pretty much everything u get
- [3:32:04 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): Couldn't disagree more
- [3:32:06 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: especially since they do try to help the community also
- [3:32:18 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: maybe not as much as other teams
- [3:32:46 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): MLG tournament structure grew top teams, STAYING top teams...plain and simple. A lot of the times if you were filtered into championship bracket you couldn't even get less than like 9th even if you didn't play every fucking match lol
- [3:33:09 PM] Rob Jiang: JP
- [3:33:13 PM] Rob Jiang: think about who benefits
- [3:33:21 PM] Rob Jiang: by having Starcraft or CSS as an MLG game
- [3:33:47 PM] Rob Jiang: your talking thousands of people, watching, following, .. buying the game
- [3:33:55 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): Not saying the teams are bad, but it doesn't mean they are deserving of the kind of money they were getting from MLG and personal endorsements. They are a smart community, but they didn't know when to fucking stop and actually accept that they are not the end all-be-all. Once Starcraft came in they should have said, "Oh shit..we should probably lower our EGO flags a bit and accept a little less than we usually would."
- [3:34:26 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: ok and that goes for most teams but instinct and final boss won like every event for awhile without dropping rounds.
- [3:34:29 PM] John "J.p." Perdicaro: ah good point Rob
- [3:34:41 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: the halo guys I play with understand mlg would be nothing without starcraft now
- [3:34:44 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: probably
- [3:35:05 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: mlg was starting to decline before starcraft came in
- [3:35:25 PM] Justin "theprodigyrlx" Whitman: example for me
- [3:35:29 PM] Justin "theprodigyrlx" Whitman: I've bought cod4 5 times now
- [3:35:35 PM] Justin "theprodigyrlx" Whitman: I lose my discs lol :(
- [3:35:51 PM] Justin "theprodigyrlx" Whitman: at least sc2 you keep if you lose the disc by your account lol
- [3:36:41 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): Not sayin they are bad guys, or don't deserve anything..saying that eventually it has to hit them that they might have went a little overboard with the ego and what they "expect" from sponsors or teams. Any SMART team would not allow an individual player endorsement like that from an outside sponsor.
- [3:36:52 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: they really don't have as big as an ego as you think if ua ctually got to know some of them as was seen when I started playing bf3 with them it was never like listen this is our team now we will pick up whoever we feel well help us win. They understood it was our game even if they were just as good as us that they wouldn't be where they are in other shooters if it wasn't for the knowledge of the game
- [3:37:18 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: yea I guess
- [3:37:23 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: they mainly wanted sponsors for their team
- [3:37:29 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: not for just each player
- [3:37:33 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: cause they do things as a team
- [3:37:39 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: so they have something to fall back on
- [3:37:47 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: if they get dropped like they were once before
- [3:38:11 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: im sure eg would drop them in a heartbeat if halo was not on the circuit
- [3:38:19 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: eon/optic gmaing wont do that
- [3:38:50 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): No, Eon/Optic will just die lol...what are they going to do if Halo and Cod don't end up on the circuit?
- [3:39:17 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): Hastr0 will go back to an individual coach somewhere, and Hecz will go back happily to Youtube lol
- [3:39:39 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: the one guy from optic that runs their social media shit has like 158 million views, and over a hundred thousand subscribers if im not mistaken
- [3:39:48 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: they get by on social media alone it seems
- [3:40:36 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: it's just a 1 year contact with either team as well
- [3:40:38 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): Of course....but they "get by" on social media and Youtube income but if their only teams are not actually attending any events anymore..why do it? And it's not like they are rolling money either..they don't want to jump in Starcraft.
- [3:45:39 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: yea I'm just speaking from an outside perspective the ego with other players such as tsquared and other teams is definitely there I dont feel that with instinct though and some of their players have like 40+ first place finishes at mlg
- [3:46:10 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: according to tom eon/optic is actually looking into starcraft
- [3:48:11 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): Exact quote from hastr0 when we spoke to him a few days ago
- [3:48:22 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: oh yea I don't speak on hastro
- [3:48:25 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: he has an ego
- [3:48:33 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): "Your community is fucking expensive. Would love to get into Starcraft but it's just too expensive."
- [3:48:40 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: ah
- [3:48:54 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): So, if they are getting in it they aren't exactly making a splash..and it would just continue to prove to me just how confused they are lol
- [3:49:02 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): I mean
- [3:50:15 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): The whole reason this was made was to supplement Youtube stuff, get that even better, make an emerging big console brand...it just looks like they don't really have any direction at all right now.
- [3:50:34 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): I did like the gunnar lan though
- [3:50:53 PM] KeyHunt ( Curt C. ): was a good choice; and looks like it didn't cost them too much
- [3:51:04 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: yea
- [3:54:20 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: my whole thing I was getting at just from these guys not other halo pros and teams.Basd on what they have done in halo they really don't have the ego.that you think they carry they try to help the community.I think they are deserving of what they get and I agree they should of probably gone with eg. Although I'm sure they felt if they did go with eg and mlg drops halo and they tell eg they would like to play whatever other console shooter that has a competitive scene at mlg and whatever other events.
- eg would drop them in a second and they didn't get that feeling from eon.
- [3:54:45 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: but yea eon/optic gaming probably doesn't know their direction like eg does
- [3:58:04 PM] Justin "theprodigyrlx" Whitman: hastr0 knew about cod being dropped before anyone
- [3:58:10 PM] Justin "theprodigyrlx" Whitman: he let stainville know
- [3:58:16 PM] Justin "theprodigyrlx" Whitman: that's why stainville quit playing
- [3:58:20 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: ah
- [3:58:36 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: yea the halo guys thought it was going to be dropped until the very mintue
- [3:58:38 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: minute
- [3:58:41 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: they announced it
- [3:58:53 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: cause they were getting msgs from halo staff
- [3:59:00 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: what would u do if halo wasn't on the circuit
- [4:00:19 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: believe me I'm not saying eon/optic is more professional the better choice
- [4:00:23 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: eg would of been that
- [4:01:01 PM] Vincenzo Cartiera: I think they just felt for their better good for a 1 year contract they would get more out eon especially since they may not be gaming that much longer and they want to play other games outside of halo and have support
