- distantScholar
- you have to ruN the clieNt file
- or was it the server?
- ocularDichromatic
- i
- wh^t??????????
- did you do this before?
- distantScholar
- No, its the server because i aM the clieNt
- yes
- ocularDichromatic
- ^lright
- -=-=-=-
- I click the server button.
- distantScholar
- with aNother troll
- dm
- it asks for you to enter handle
- ocularDichromatic
- I type "distantScholar".
- distantScholar
- Reytra runs the client file
- dm
- assuming Reytra has the client running it just kinda disappears for her. You however get a hud with multiple items to deploy and apparently a cursor. You are looking at Reytra and another very young troll missing an arm in what appears to be ancient ruins but with a big computer. All underwater
- ocularDichromatic
- My eyes widen, and I scurry back slightly, startled.
- distantScholar
- is it workiNg oN your eNd?
- ocularDichromatic
- why do you h^ve ^nother troll with you?
- distantScholar
- i Met her today
- she lives here
- ocularDichromatic
- ^lright
- sorry
- i need ^ moment
- distantScholar
- Not sure if we have tiMe for that
- ocularDichromatic
- oh
- right
- meteors
- so wh^t now?
- distantScholar
- place dowN all three MachiNes aNd the puNchcard
- ocularDichromatic
- wh^t m^chines?
- distantScholar
- its oN the display
- ocularDichromatic
- I start clicking on the buttons one by one, trying to find the machines that Reytra specified.
- dm
- there are about 5 but only 4 are free and the rest require "grist" which you don't have. It seems to be a drag and drop system
- ocularDichromatic
- I click the first machine, the Cruxtruder.
- dm
- there is a little bit of room here, but just enough for one
- distantScholar
- "Peircy, get ready."
- ocularDichromatic
- I drop the Cruxtruder.
- dm
- "Fer wat?"
- dm
- it falls in place next to the computer
- distantScholar
- "that."
- Reytra tries to open it like she saw Otomus do
- !roll 1d20
- Kaiserbot[Dice]
- rolled 1d20 --> [ 1d20=1 ] | {1}
- dm
- you break the wheel off and it seems to somehow get tighter
- ocularDichromatic
- Can I have a description of the ruins, and what's inside it?
- distantScholar
- She tries again
- !roll 1d20
- Kaiserbot[Dice]
- rolled 1d20 --> [ 1d20=1 ] | {1}
- dm
- it, uh. Closes. There are no dowels
- and yes
- distantScholar
- i Need you to opeN this for Me
- dm
- Currently they are on a small platform with a giant computer screen, there is a hallway on one side, and the cruxtruder is on the other. In this instance you actually have an arrow on the side that will take you to a different point of view as well
- it is entirely underwater
- ocularDichromatic
- I grab the giant computer screen.
- c^n i just
- borrow this?
- distantScholar
- Not Mine
- ocularDichromatic
- oh
- ^lright
- dm
- you manage to tear it off the wall, taking a piece of ruins with it and making the whole place unstable
- ocularDichromatic
- no
- nonononono
- distantScholar
- just go
- please
- ocularDichromatic
- I drop the giant screen on the lid.
- Everything's going wrong.
- No.
- No.
- "no, no no no nonononononono"
- Calm down.
- I take a deep breath.
- dm
- The whole platform goes and lands on...well another platform a little further below it. Dowels fly everywhere and a small orb shoots out. Thankfully our two trolls here are the aquatic type and just sort of swim in place and watch
- distantScholar
- Now place the other oNes
- ocularDichromatic
- I try to place the other machines.
- distantScholar
- She grabs a dowel
- dm
- but where?
- distantScholar
- "fiNd soMethiNg for the orb!"
- dm
- if only there was like, someones room to go to
- ocularDichromatic
- I view the hallway, and "move" down until I reach another room.
- if... there is one
- dm
- yes
- ocularDichromatic
- I then place the Totem Lathe.
- dm
- there is a large room with a recuperacoon and a few old beat up toys floating around, crude drawings are scrawled on the wall and theres uh, a dead shark here
- ocularDichromatic
- ^lright, i pl^ced the totem thing
- dm
- the totem lathe doesn't do anything. it appears to be missing something
- distantScholar
- Reytra swims over to Peircy's room, it being the only other option
- When she reaches it she puts the dowel on the lathe
- dm
- it again does nothing
- distantScholar
- puNchcard!
- ocularDichromatic
- I place the punched card.
- distantScholar
- put dowN the last oNe aNd check oN the orb
- ocularDichromatic
- I put down the Alchemiter.
- dm
- the orb is an orb
- distantScholar
- Reytra grabs the punchcard and puts it in the lathe
- it Needs soMethiNg iN it
- dm
- the lathe carves some sort of abstract art looking thing out of the dowel
- distantScholar
- She takes the carved dowel over to the alchemiter and places it on it
- dm
- it creates a cube, which seems hollow to the touch
- ocularDichromatic
- Meanwhile, I move the camera back to the orb.
- distantScholar
- fiNd soMethiNg for the orb
- ocularDichromatic
- I grab the computer screen from earlier.
- distantScholar
- Reytra grabs the cube and examines it
- dm
- you manage to pick it up again and create more dust floating around
- The cube is very bland and cube-like still hollow
- meanwhile Peircy pokes at the dead shark with her toy trident
- distantScholar
- "aNy ideas?"
- ocularDichromatic
- I then drag it over to the orb.
- dm
- The orb flashes brightly for a second before...rejecting it. huh
- "Idea for wat? Wat's happening Rey?"
- ocularDichromatic
- I drop the screen.
- distantScholar
- "we Need to do soMethiNg with this cube."
- ocularDichromatic
- I pick up the dead shark.
- ocularDichromatic
- Then I drag it over to the orb, just like I did with the screen.
- dm
- Peicry jumps and swims over to hug Reytra tightly when it starts moving
- distantScholar
- "its Not alive"
- dm
- the orb flashes for a second time, then it is a shark
- she doesn't respond. just clinging on
- distantScholar
- "she's just MoviNg it"
- Reytra tries to break the cube
- dm
- how so?
- distantScholar
- Smashing it on the ground
- dm
- roll STR
- distantScholar
- !roll 1d20
- Kaiserbot[Dice]
- rolled 1d20 --> [ 1d20=5 ] | {5}
- dm
- it lands on the ground with a thud
- try again?
- distantScholar
- Yes
- !roll 1d20
- Kaiserbot[Dice]
- rolled 1d20 --> [ 1d20=8 ] | {8}
- dm
- it cracks a little this time, it appears to be working
- distantScholar
- Again
- !roll 1d20
- Kaiserbot[Dice]
- rolled 1d20 --> [ 1d20=10 ] | {10}
- dm
- the crack widens and Peircy tries to help with the trident
- !roll 1d20-2
- Kaiserbot[Dice]
- rolled 1d20-2 --> [ 1d20=15 ] | {13}
- dm
- not much else happens though
- distantScholar
- Almost there. She tries again
- !roll 1d20
- Kaiserbot[Dice]
- rolled 1d20 --> [ 1d20=15 ] | {15}
- dm
- and that'll do
- the last thing you see before a flash of white is that there wasn't anything inside
- Aoxola's computer...bluescreens? is that a thing trolls have?
- ocularDichromatic
- I stare.
- "reytr^?"
- "reytr^"
- "no."
- "no, this c^n't be h^ppening-"
- I shake the monitor lightly.
- dm
- nothing
- ocularDichromatic
- I curl up into a ball.
- Then I sob.
- It's my fault.
- dm
- good
- ocularDichromatic
- It's my fault.
- It's my fault.
- It' s s my f ffaul tt
- I t' sl a ll my ym afault
- The ghost in my head speaks. The demon inside me. You killed them, it says. Now they're gone.
- dm
- Reytra however is in a white void with no means of communication. facing down a green glowing troll with no facial features and is floating off the...ground? it's hard to tell in a void
- ocularDichromatic
- I sob harder.
- And harder.
- distantScholar
- "aM i dead?"
- dm
- when she speaks you hear it from every direction
- "No. Net yet."
- distantScholar
- "yet?"
- "aNd where aM i theN?"
- dm
- "Well, no where to be honest. It's a bit complicated."
- ocularDichromatic
- How does it feel screwing up everything? It must feel terrible, the demon says.
- And the best part? You did it!
- It was all you!
- dm
- "But you CAN be in a new universe, shaped to your liking, with infinite possibilities."
- distantScholar
- "theN why aM i here?"
- ocularDichromatic
- No.
- No.
- distantScholar
- "how?"
- ocularDichromatic
- It can (not) be true.
- You are (not) lying.
- I think a bit to myself.
- Was I really at fault?
- Is she okay?
- Is anyone here?
- Please.
- dm
- "Because I brought you here. This is the toll station and you have to pay to get by."
- ocularDichromatic
- Someone.
- distantScholar
- "why?"
- dm
- "What? Because I'm giving you a universe, that's not free."
- distantScholar
- "theN why give it?"
- dm
- "Do you not want a second chance at life?"
- distantScholar
- "i waNt to uNderstaNd what's happeNiNg right Now"
- dm
- "Your world is doomed. I chose you, and a few others, to come make a new one."
- distantScholar
- "why?"
- dm
- "Wow, can I go back to the dead guy? He was so much easier. Look. You have to do this if you want to live. It's really not a choice for you. Well it IS, but it's kinda an obvious one."
- distantScholar
- "well soMe of us Need to kNow what's happeNiNg before decidiNg..."
- dm
- "I told you. Your world is ending. Were the falling space rocks not clue enough? I'm offering you a second chance to save yourself an your entire species in the process. That's all you get to know. Now are you going to pay me or not?"
- distantScholar
- "what do you waNt?"
- dm
- "Gimmie the girl."
- distantScholar
- "No"
- distantScholar
- "take soMethiNg else"
- dm
- "Really? But she's so little, what good is little miss pink lemonade to you?"
- distantScholar
- "doN't"
- dm
- "What? You barely know her, and she's nothing but trouble. As the empress she'll just grow up to be a merciless killer. You know this."
- distantScholar
- "i said No"
- dm
- "Wow, fine then. What do you offer?"
- distantScholar
- "what do you take?"
- dm
- "Uhg, why??"
- "Always with this, it's your choice"
- distantScholar
- "i waNt to kNow the paraMeters"
- "that doesN't aNswer the questioN"
- dm
- Something that matters a lot to you
- distantScholar
- "fiNe.... what about..."
- "My collectioN"
- dm
- "The one that got burnt? OH! That actually works quite well. Your price will be knowledge."
- distantScholar
- "what does that MeaN?"
- dm
- "I will take everything you have learned from those books of yours."
- distantScholar
- ...
- dm
- "Of course you'll keep your common sense and ability to read and such."
- distantScholar
- "what's the catch?"
- dm
- "NO! Keep the knowledge and give me your ability to read! That would be perfect for you!"
- distantScholar
- ...
- "why do you eNjoy torturiNg Me"
- dm
- "I'm hardening you for the road ahead. It's needed."
- distantScholar
- ...
- "i will oNly lose the ability to read aNd NothiNg else?"
- dm
- "Sure, there'a always a catch. But it's a lot more fun if you have to figure that out yourself."
- distantScholar
- "i doN't waNt to Make a deal if i doN't kNow the outcoMe"
- ← ocularDichromatic has quit (Quit: Leaving)
- dm
- "You know the outcome, I'll just add some fun to it."
- "Your friend the limeblood had the same thing happen."
- distantScholar
- "theN it isN't the saMe outcoMe"
- "i doN't kNow aNy liMebloods"
- dm
- "Oh right. That was probably a secret. Oh well that stupid caste system doesn't matter anymore."
- distantScholar
- "actually..."
- "take the kNowledge"
- "but oNly the stuff froM the collectioN"
- dm
- "Wow, changing your mind huh? Alright then it's a deal. Keep the royal juicebox and I'll take from you the gift of knowledge. Have fun out there!"
- dm
- And then everything goes...white-er. And you are suddenly at the bottom of an ocean, only there is no ocean. Old coral sits white and brittle, being dried by the sun, that doesn't burn you, and everything thing seems wrong.
- Scratch that....five suns
- cause you are now on the world of Seas and Suns
