Born about 30 years ago to a pair of rogues, Eogan was forced to grow up remarkably early. He ran away from home when he was about 10, after an overly aggressive argument with his mother. Until about 14, Eogan lived the usual life of a street rat, when an incident with a cart lost him a leg mid-thigh. Fortunately, a scientist (Sieglinde Grendelsbane) happened on the scene soon enough both to secure medical treatment for the boy and the boy's cooperation...for a while, at least. They soon became friends, though their relationship was mostly platonic and mother/son in nature.

Sieglinde, as it turned out, was a cyberneticist looking to demonstrate the utility of magically-enhanced robotic prosthetics. After several months, she was able to convince Eogan to not only let her adopt him, but also assist in her experiments as a sapient lab rat. Before the year was out, Eogan Grendelsbane was once more bipedal, one leg near completely comprised of magically-enhanced, plated robotics. At 16, with Sieglinde's encouragement, Eogan enlisted in The City's irregular militia.

Eogan's facility with robotics and hand-to-hand combat propelled him to the rank of Seargent by the time The City became fully independent. Since then, he's been involved in several skirmishes, the most recent of which (about a month ago) has resulted in medical leave. Eogan's recently reported to duty once more, though at the moment he's been assigned light duties (i.e. deskwork) while his prosthetic leg's in the process of being replaced with a newer model thought to be better able to withstand combat.
